I’ve been seeing Dr. Spurrier as my ophthalmologist every two years since I moved to St. Louis. He’s relocated his St. Louis office a few times, but I wouldn’t dream of going anywhere else. Every prescription(when I need a change, which isn’t every time) is spot on and he has a great chairside manner — professional, kind, and upbeat. I learned about Dr. Spurrier from an enthusiastic referral by a good friend who had just had what she termed a «miracle surgery» performed by Dr. S, and word-of-mouth really is still the best advertisement, because I’ve never, ever had an issue at this office. The staff is smart and professional, I never have to wait beyond my appointment time, and once or twice when I’ve had what I thought might be an emergency(an eye injury or an unusual reaction), I’ve been able to get an appointment the same day. Dr. Spurrier himself is just what a doctor should be – he’s invested in his patients and takes his time, but never wastes his time(or mine) on overzealous marketing claptrap. Conservative and careful in his treatment, but up-to-date with the very latest techniques and technologies(a rare combination, and a good one). He’s also a fine classical organist, and rather humble about it, but if you’re lucky, you might catch him in a local concert in one of the cities where he has an office.(He won’t brag about it, but ask him if you’re so inclined!) I’m careful almost to the point of phobic about eyes and teeth, because they can’t be replaced(well, teeth can, but they’re not as good as the originals!), and I’m confident that Dr. Spurrier is one of the best eye doctors in the region. Wouldn’t trust my eyesight to anyone else!
