Not really from the area. Frequently here since my BF lives down the block … A Brooklyn native. I know good Chinese food and this ISNTIT ‚. Had chicken wings and pork fried rice. The wings were greasy and bland … They might have been cooked with flour and it was just peeling off. The sight of it wasn’t desirable.. Nor the taste. I’m sure other items might be better. But it just left a nasty taste in my mouth. That I vowed not to return … If you can’t give me a decent tasting wings and rice. I don’t know if I dare to taste anything else.

I really was kind of excited to try something different. From the outside it looked a little dirty but inside was clean and there were two cooks in the kitchen. I actually got excited when I was inside that MAYBE this was a hidden jewel… Unfortunately I will not go back. The quality was not good and it just was overall bland and greasy. I think that Panda Express or any mall Chinese food would have been better. Sorry was hoping it would have been better than just OK ONESTAR-1.5STARS

I lived in the area for a few months when my job relocated me here and this was my goto spot. It was so convenient to walk here as it was around the corner from my apartment so I never ordered delivery. The food was always delicious and fresh. My favorites are the chicken and broccoli and shrimp lo mein. If I’m ever in Kew Gardens again I’ll know where to go for good Chinese food.

The best in kew gardens. Hands down. Try the garlic sauce or the kung pow. Also the fried chicken wings are famous.

Went here to get food for two of my clients who were extremely hungry from taking medication so I googled the nearest Chinese restaurant and this one popped up. The distance was 3 minutes so I said why not. It was a busy strip on Metropolitan but it was after hours so I found parking and didn’t have to worry about any traffic police which was great. Keep in mind that I called about 10 minutes prior and it was a 3 minute drive. So to average it was about 15 minutes. I ended up waiting a total of half an hour for the food and there were people in there who were waiting a long time as well. As far as the setting: the outside of the store lit up nicely and the inside was clean. Not too many tables and chairs to sit and dine in if you’re with more that 3 people. The staff is not that engaged in the customers but I guess. I will not return. It’s too many chinese food spots in NYC to have such. Long wait for frenchfries.

Food is good, but if you order for delivery, the young person who answers the phone has zero manners! She speaks to you like a moron, when it’s clearly her not understanding english! Makes me want to never order from there again!

Do not order from here. Over an hour and 15 mins for delivery after being told multiple times it would be there in 10 mins. Delivery guy became aggressive and hostile when he didn’t receive«enough» money for his tip. Snatched money out of my hand as he yelled at me and then tried to take the food out of my hands bc he wasnt happy with the tip. Went to the restaurant to get his name to file a report and the owner only made excuse for him then tried to re-sell me the food!!! Which means he lied saying the guy wasn’t there. After this not feeling safe at all with these random people delivering the food. Owner claims he doesn’t know the guy and he said«some are just crazy» and they never know who they hire or how long they will last NEGATIVESTARS

Unless you called the order in or order a take out, you will end up waiting an hour or more for your food. They have a complete disregard for walk in customers. Oh, and if you dare to complaint, you will not only hear from the staff, but also from other customers who«called before» and are picking up their food ahead of you. Food is also not worth the hassle.

I have to agree with Beau G. The place has EXCELLENT food for a chinese fast food joint, I mean really top notch. The wonton soup here is unmatched, and the food is always very good and fresh, but lately the service has gone downhill fast. I went in and ordered a large shrimp fried rice, a small order of ribs and a small order of shrimp with broccoli which anywhere else would take about 10 minutes, and which the boy at the counter told me would take 10 minutes. That was 7:44pm. At 8:25pm I had to finally get up from my seat and ask for my food. 40 minutes for fast food is unacceptable. Still, the food is excellent here.

This place has rock star delicious food but lately the service has been ridiculously slow. If you go to pick it up, call it in 30 mins before you go.

I have been living in this area for years and I have to say my usual order(mixed veggies w/curry sauce) is never consistent. Sometimes it’s way too spicy, to the point that I can’t eat it and have to throw it out. Other times it’s too dry and sometimes the«mixed» vegetables aren’t really mixed(broccoli and carrots). The Singapore mei fun is okay and so is the chicken lomein. The worst thing about this place is their delivery man(skinny guy with glasses) He is terribly RUDE. Before you even give him the money he is already asking for tip. If you tip anything lower than 3 dollars he gets nasty and starts cursing. I stopped order from here and started started ordering from Jade on lefferts. The lady who takes the orders is very sweet and their food is really good.

I used to like this place when I first met my boyfriend 13 years ago. We would order from here when they were in the corner if 118th& metropolitan. My boyfriend will loves this place because he grew up right next door abd has been eating it all his life. Not me though. The last few times I’ve ordered they’ve taken over an hour almost two hours to deliver. When I called they asked if I wanted to pick it up because the delivery guy was busy. My food arrived cold. Then the food isn’t that good. The chicken with broccoli had no sauce and the texture and taste of the chicken was off. I ordered shrimp egg too young and that’s a weird yellow color. Their lomein is oily and so was the chicken with vegetables. The shrimp mei fun had no flavor and the shrimp had a funny hate as well. Reason why I gave two stars is because their general tsos chicken is ok.

Never written a review but had to write one today. Took over an hour for delivery and when arrived found a cockroach inside the paper bag where the food was placed. Had to throw the food away when I tried to call the restaurant the lady who answered hung up the phone when I tried to address the matter. Safe to say will never order from here again. Order at your own risk.

As a long time resident of the area I must say this is the best Chinese take out around. The won ton soup is great & that with an eggroll is enough for a meal.

Legendary local Chinese take out food for at least 25 years although much of the time they held the corner of 118 and Metropolitan Ave. The four star rating is given based on the fact that many Chinese food spots all have a hit and miss menu. Finding and separating out the better dishes takes time and money, which isn’t a problem facing Golden Fountain customers, everything is very good to excellent. This reviews focus is on appetizers as the offerings are worthy and review all to themselves, an update for entrees will follow. Soups: I’ve witnessed the wife or mother of the owner stuffing and folding wontons in the kitchen area. The freshly made wantons are stuffed with pork and spinach to the weight just shy of a Beggars Pouch. Sweet and Sour Soup redefines the real sweet meets real sour without that gelatin, out of bucket look and taste. Dim Sum: if your thinking of ordering steamed or fried dumplings but have corridored off only an appetizers amount of space in your belly this is a must order item. Four rice coveted meatballs with much more meat than the wontons, coveted with a sweet soy sauce and freshly diced chives. Boneless Rib Tips: Beautifully chunky tips of pork ribs cooked in a candied BBQ sauce and my favorite appetizer on the next level appetizer menu.

People do not know what real Chinese food really is. No offense but especially Caucasians and Im half Italian aswell. This is the worst Chinese food I ever had and I have from around the world, the rice and rib tips were oily and tasted the same. I ordered fried chicken and didnt even get one hot sause in my bag. The only thing that was good was the won ton soup and the french fries. Also the delivery man looked very upset because he thought he was going to get $ 4 tip. My cousin Guy Fieri would be very upset!

Think about what is around this area. Most Chinese Take Out use old oil. You know because you feel indigestion after each meal. Then they add on MSG and you’re drinking water while burping what you ate for the next couple of hours. Not at this place. Each time we ordered whether for pick up or delivery, the food was fresh. I don’t get a nasty aftertaste. The House Udon is magnificent. Portions are large. The rib tips are done to perfection. The shrimp with lobster sauce is tasty with jumbo shrimp and grounded meat. The fried rice is nice done without an exagerrated amount of onions. I even had steamed Tilapia one time. Pretty good as well. Lots of ginger and scallions. Sadly… they do not offer freebies. In addition, their duck sauce in packets is actually better than the stuff they manually put into little containers. Those are actually watery. You lose a star for this.

I am going to just do the bullet points for my rating. My experience started bad with the delivery. Delivery took hour and a half. Guy then proceeded to mouth off after a 10% delivery tip and cursed at me before leaving. One dish was cooked in old oil and tasted bad. Not ordering from here again!

Never order the sesame chicken. Very disgustingly fried and sauced. When you bite into it, it’s like biting into mushy bread batter and chicken tasted nothing.

Have only ordered delivery, but everything was delicious. Amazing BBQ tips(boneless spare ribs), great soups, noodle dishes… Basically the only downside is that sometimes delivery may take some time– not really surprising, they’re the best by far in the area!
