Jim Weaver is VERYEXPENSIVE and might not actually do much. I just bought a house, first day I’m in it the stove starts leaking gas. I hired a fabulous plumber to replace the gas line to my 1970s O’Keefe and Merritt stove and she recommended Jim/All Gas Appliances to check the oven because she thought it wasn’t working properly. *Note: at the last place I lived we had a 1950s Wedgewood stove. I fixed all the pilots on that stove myself. I can do small repairs but don’t want to mess with gas lines. I would never have called him if I didn’t think the oven was broken/potentially leaking. I called Jim, he showed up within an hour. From there I’m not sure why I bothered asking him to come. He never asked what the problem was, just started futzing around. Replaced 2 oven door springs without asking. What he did ask were super invasive questions about how much I bought the house for and then proceeded to wander through the whole house just to look and comment on it. As a young woman alone in her house, I feel extremely creeped out by this. In the end, Jim said«doesn’t smell like it’s leaking»(never confirmed this with any spray or soapy water like PGE + the plumber did), replaced 2 oven door springs(which I didn’t ask for), and checked the oven temperature(which I also didn’t ask for and already knew). He spent about an hour in my house and charged me $ 223. Those two springs each cost $ 23. I could get springs from the hardware store for under $ 5. I’m very unhappy.

We have an O’Keefe & Merritt range that needed to be repaired. Both ovens were not lighting up. Mr. Weaver knew exactly what needed to be done to get them going again. He’s extremely knowledgeable and professional with his craft in repairing«classic» gas ranges.

I dropped a pot & broke the cast iron rings on my old stove, and drove to urban ore who had some around $ 5 but that were not an exact fit. i tried an appliance store on san pablo and then omega salvage who gave me referrals to three places. i called jim weaver he said he might have it so i drove out to richmond. he spent half an hour raking through hundreds of gas rings til he found a match then declared it was an antique therefore worth $ 60. I think he bases his prices on assumptions about how well-off you seem. Still looking.

This stove repairman, charges $ 200 per hour, at least in my zip code! Be sure to negotiate a price or rate BEFORE he works for you. When I asked, «Can I afford this repair?» he changed the subject and kept on working. We have a 1920 Wedgewood gas(and wood) stove, fairly primitive, but you need to know your way around such an old beast. Mr. Weaver came the day we phoned him, so very prompt service. We needed to have the burners cleaned and adjusted, and the knobs needed to turn more easily. He disassembled the stove top, cleaned the burners with an ordinary piece of wire, and a razor blade that I supplied to him. He borrowed my wire brush(and would have taken it with him), and requested rags and oil(I furnished W-D 40). His extra large tool box was overflowing with small parts and tools, but I don’t recall that he used anything more complicated than a crescent wrench or pliers. He supplied no parts. He finished in about 50 minutes and charged $ 190. The stove works great, and the knobs turn easily for the first time in the 30 years we’ve had the stove. But WAY too expensive.

I have been very happy with Jim’s work. He completely rebuilt our very old(1918 ish) Wedgewood stove about 9 years ago when we remodeled the kitchen and has been out a couple of times since. Once he came to level it and today he came because the oven had stopped working when our water heater was moved(turns out that shutting down the gas to the water heater did something to the stove safety valve). We love our old stove and we are very happy to have such a reliable, honest, hardworking reasonably priced artist to keep it alive and«cooking with gas.»

Needed repair on an older no longer made 2 oven 6 burner Crown stove — both ovens had issues. Called Jim — he came by later the same day. Quickly figured out the problems with both ovens — fixed them, also replaced a broken door spring with a used replacement and supplied a missing gasket. He used part of a used control unit to fix the one one my stove. Time: about an hour and a half. So far, all fine. Next — the invoice: $ 705.00 Wow. Half parts, half labor. WOW. For half the price it would have been expensive but an OK experience. While the work is fine, $ 700+ is NOTFINE for minimal parts and an hour and half of time. Will not use again or recommend.

I had a 50s Western-Holley which quit baking. I called two local places in Berkeley who never returned my calls; I spoke to one vintage stove«expert» who said he didn’t like Western-Holley and wouldn’t even look at it. Another highly regarded repairman came over fiddled with it for a few minutes and said he couldn’t fix it. Then I called All Gas. It was afternoon and he came by the next morning. He has the knowledge and had the parts to fix it right away. He also refurbishes stoves and sells vintage stoves from his shop in Richmond.

We have a late 50’s model O’Keefe & Merritt gas stove that we needed repaired — Reliance Appliance recommended Jim. He answered my call and was able to come out 45 minutes later and fix the problem within a little over an hour. My family had been without an oven/range for almost 3 weeks while I tried to find someone to fix the problem(thermostat was broken and we broke the oven knob, creating a gas leak, trying to turn off an overheated oven) — I wish I had known about Jim in the beginning! I will definitely call All Gas Appliances & Repairs when/if we decide to have the oven fully restored.

I talked to Jim, the owner, about a problem with our old Wedgewood range. He came out the same day and was great at finding, explaining, and fixing the it. Fast, courteous, and professional, five stars!

We got a Wedgewood double-oven, 4 burner w/griddle classic stove from All Gas Appliance and totally love it… just like I grew up with. When it comes to antique gas appliances, James knows his stuff and has virtually every part you could want, from replacement knobs to salt and pepper shakers! Prompt and reliable, we’ve called him back a couple times to check the stove when we weren’t sure if it was working quite right. A definite«recommended!»
