My girlfriend kept telling me how great this pizza is, so I decided to try. Pizza tastes great, one of the best around. Garlic knots tasted mainly like bread. Communication over the phone was hard, but won’t stop me from ordering more pizza.

Omg!!! Sooo good!!! Close to the pizza i would get back home in Mass! Our pizza is just a bit thinner and a tad more butter on the crust… But this is very close!!! Now for anyone visiting from up north… After living here for 18yrs… Ive had a few slices in the NoVA, RVA and VA Beach areas… This is IMHO really good for south of the Mason Dixon!!!

I AMBEYONDPISSED!!! We called in our order at 10:45am to be delivered at 11:45am.(to ensure we get it in time for our short lunch break from 12 – 12:30) At 12pm called the location and they stated it was on the way 5mins. It did not arrive until 12:25pm! When I called the manager, he didn’t offer any discount/coupons nothing! When I asked would we be compensated in anyway since our lunch break was ruined, he said no. Instead he rudely stated they were busy and all he can do is apologize. OH and not to mention most of our food was disgusting!!! Do NOT order from this place!

The Pizza is excellent when your order a whole pie fresh. The slices not so much when re heated. Their extra large pizza is gigantic. The subs are really good too. Although they are pricey, definitely worth it over most of the crap pizza places in Richmond.

Honestly not the best pizza I’ve ever gotten. Pretty average. Got a pepperoni and it was sparsely populated with ronis. Not much flavor. Will not go back.

Great Little place enjoyed sitting on the patio — ordered a Stromboli that was bigger than your face, I was great and enough left over for two lunches. The staff was super friendly. They also serve by the slice, it will be on my regular go-to list.

Crumbly«cheese» that didn’t melt very well. Crust a bit matzoh-like on the bottom but undercooked under the«cheese». «Sausage» consists of little bits of unidentifiable meat-like substance. Which has me asking if food-making people in the confederacy — no matter their nationality — have ever had a pizza north of Richmond? I am recently displaced here from NJ and am continually astonished. The search continues. P. S. The pizza looks nothing like the posted photos. Which reminds me of the old saying, «there’s nothing like a good pizza, and that was nothing like a good pizza.»

This is an excellent little spot that I’ll be glad to go back to many, many times. It’s worth five stars in the category it’s in — local pizza joints. There’s a beautiful, gas burning(?) oven in the back that turns out delicious pizza. It’s not thin, NY-style, nor is it too thick. It’s somewhere in the middle and delicious with just the right amount of grease. The veggies were super fresh and crunchy still coming out of the oven. We also had the Greek salad — and the dressing makes that a five star dish, too. The zucchini fries left a bit to be desired. Friendly staff and decent prices rounded out a great visit!

The pizzas are made fresh, the wraps are delicious and the service is friendly. Price is reasonable too! My kids love their spinach pizza and I get to feel less guilty about them eating fast food.

I got the large Caesar salad with chicken and it was delicious. The Romaine lettuce was cold and crisp and the chicken was hot and flavorful. The dressing was good too. Next time, pizza.

The wait for a slice of pizza was quite a while, however it was worth the wait! I had a slice with spinach and sausage and it was sooooo good! They had a variety of things to choose from including wings, and subs. there were 2 tvs in there to watch, and they have a special on Mondays that for 18.99 you can get a meal for 2 including salad. So I will be back!

«Meh. I’ve experienced better.» That’s essentially the way I felt after my visit to Apollo’s tonight. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had worse pizza in my life. Just… not in the last few months of my life. –Food: We had a small order of 6 garlic knots and a large half cheese, half pepperoni pizza. — Garlic knots: We didn’t see it listed, but they come with romano cheese sprinkled all over them. The problem with this is that the cheese absorbs the buttery garlic liquid(which is normally the sinfully good part of garlic knots), and we were left with slightly dry and less flavored garlic knots. My fiancée doesn’t even like romano cheese and brushed it all off. — Pizza: I’ve said it in prior reviews, but good pizza(to me) falls in one of two categories. 1) Thin crust pizza with a crispy crust. 2) Deep dish with a buttery crust. The pizza at Apollo’s is a thin crust, but only the very end resembles anything near crispy. The first slice out of the oven had a firm-at-best crust, but the second slice after having sat a few minutes was really quite soft. If you happen to like thin, soft crust, I think you will strongly disagree with the 2 star rating of this review. I won’t cut credit where credit is due; there is a perfect amount of cheese and the pepperoni had a nice spice to it(albeit a bit greasy). It wasn’t a bad tasting pizza, but it’s hard for me to acknowledge the taste with the texture of the crust. There are a lot of other items on the menu as well, and it’s possible that I’ll try some other ones at a future date. I particularly like Steak and Cheese, so that’s something I could see happening. –Cost: Above food came to ~$ 15. I’d say about average for a pizza and a bread side. –Atmosphere: Nothing too out of the ordinary for a pizza place. There were two TVs playing America’s Got Talent with about 8 people dining in. Place was pretty clean. –Service: We ordered and had our pizza in about 15 minutes. Garlic knots came sooner. They do give generously sized Styrofoam cups for water. Staff was nice enough. –Overall: As it’s right down the street from where I reside, I wanted to like Apollo’s more. It has the right foundations for a good pizza in my opinion, but I just couldn’t get over the crust. If a soft, thin crust doesn’t bother you or is preferred, by all means, give them a shot. I personally think I’ll be sticking to Capriccio’s which isn’t too much further down the street, but I don’t regret coming here.

I enjoy their stuffed veggie pizza, their white pizzas, and service. They’ve always delivered quickly, and when I go in to pick up my order, they are always friendly and welcoming. The fettuccine was a bit bland, but nothing I couldn’t fix with some s/p, garlic, and basil. I can’t say I’d order that pasta dish again, but I will continue to order their pizza. This is the only pizza place in Richmond that I’ve been to. I can’t compare it with other establishments. Then again, they’ve given me no reason to want to go anywhere else.

Their Italian food is decent BUT you have to come here for the pizza! The sauce is just sweet enough and the crust is perfect!

Before I start this review, you have to know this is a pizza only review. If you’d like to know about their pastas, I can’t really comment. Besides, if you want pasta, you should get it in an authentic Italian restaurant, not a pizza shop. So, I have been eating here for many years now, and i can honestly say it is a pizza that I truly enjoy. The fact of the matter is that there is kind of a love it or hate it mentality in people for Apollo’s. One of the reasons I believe that this exists, is because so many people are still used to the corporate hash that they concoct at pizza hut, dominos, etc. Listen, richmond is not a central hub for pizza lovers. In fact if this is the only place you have had pizza, you can’t really make a sound decision for what is and isn’t good pizza. I will take a Fornino’s, Lombardi’s, Grimaldi’s pizza from NYC over your finest decadent lobster dinner. But we are in richmond and not NYC, so you have to go with what you got. What this place has is the only thing that comes close to a fresh flame oven pizza. The sauce has a sweetened flavor that doesn’t clash. The cheese is moderate without being heavy. And all in all they make a pizza that is respectable and better than anything in a 20mile radius.

Stopped by here late(10:30 p.m.) Saturday night when everything else was closed and got two slices of pepperoni. Huge, thin, New York Style slices. Good. Pretty big menu of pizza, pastas and sandwiches. Slightly high prices. Some outdoor seating. Real Italians who speak Italian run the joint.

I seen Apollo’s on the way to Short Pump. I decided to try their pizza. I’ve been to Apollo’s off and on over the past 2 years. I actually like Apollo’s pizza. It’s good pizza but not the best I’ve eaten. The pizza at Apollo’s is more like New York style. I usually get the peperoni and sausage pizza. The pizza is good enough for me to come back. The last time I went to Apollo’s I decided to get a steak and cheese sub. The steak and cheese sub was really good. I was surprised that the steak and cheese was delicious. I didnt have high expectations but I was caught by surprise. Usually at pizza spots the steak subs are average. I had the garlic knots for an appetizer and I wasn’t impressed. The garlic knots lacked some flavor. My food always come out hot at Apollo’s.Whenever I go to Apollo’s, I eat in the restaurant. The atmosphere is laid back with a family feel. The employees are nice and friendly. Worthy spot to enjoy pizza. I give Apollo’s a 3.5 rating.

Apollo’s was my no-cook dinner stand-by when I lived in an apartment almost across Broad Street from it. The pizza and calzones served here aren’t the very best in town, but they are pretty darn good. The Greek and Garden salads are both simple, traditional and good. I also really like the Veggie Combination pizza, which is topped with mushrooms, green peppers, tomatoes, onions, black olives and mozzarella. The Greek, topped with fresh chopped garlic, black olives, tomatoes, feta and mozzarella cheese, is also a great flavor combination. I also like the Apollo’s Special — Gourmet Veggie white pizza with olive oil, fresh chopped garlic, spinach, broccoli, mushrooms, ricotta, mozzarella and Romano cheese. The calzones and strombolis are also very good. Apollo’s offers carry out and delivery. You can also eat in, but there’s not much in the way of atmosphere. I’d recommend it for a tasty dinner in.
