Huge selection, even the older books are in very good condition. Had a particularly good find of a 1915 print of The Age of Reason for only $ 8. The proprietor was extremely friendly and helpful, and also let me barter on the books which had been on the shelves for some time. Will definitely go back again.

As Michelle said below you can easily get overwhelmed as soon as you walk into this bookstore. It’s well worth it though if you’re an avid reader or you like getting lost in a bookstore for hours like I do. I spent two hours in there and I still feel like that wasn’t long enough. The books were on tables outside, in boxes, and there were old folding maps beside them that were selling for 75 cents a piece. You walk in and it’s floor to ceiling books! This was my ultimate dream store. There were used books, autographed books, books by local authors, and new books under every topic imaginable. The nice lady running the store was very knowledgeable and was able to recommend a few books if you knew what topic you were looking for. If you’re willing to search through the racks, shelves, cluttered hallways you just might find a gem or two.

Um, this place is ADORABLE and overwhelming all at once. It’s one street away from the intersection of Patterson and Libbie, and I almost drove right past it because it looks like a worn down little house! However, the books sitting on tables outside caught my attention, and I realized it was a store. Going inside was like visiting a bookstore in an old movie. There were books EVERYWHERE. Old books, new books, local books, classic books. Just books books books. The lady behind the counter was so nice, she told me flat out that since it was my first time here I’d likely get overwhelmed quickly, and that I’d want to know how things were priced, how to tell if a book was new or used, and how things were organized. She then proceeded to explain all those things, and then she sent me off to hunt for buried literary gold. Here’s the short version: New and old books are mixed together. If something looks old, it probably is. And unless it’s labeled on the inside page with a price, then it’s half the cover price for used books, full cover price for new books. There are lots of discounted books all over the store and it’s entirely likely that you can find a gem for $ 2. She showed me a whole stack of fiction books that she said usually get overlooked, and they were all $ 2… like most bookstores this one is organized by category, and they have all categories covered from cooking to spirituality to self-help and of course there are a good selection of fiction books. They’ve got a ton of autographed books as well as some old books that are a little more expensive… so really whether you want cheap old books or something hard to find, this is the place to go. I found some books of house plans by an architect in McLean for $ 2 apiece, plus vintage copies of Anne of Green Gables and Little Women for $ 6-$ 7 apiece. Plus they carry lots of local stuff, so I bought the story of Miller and Rhoads… I could easily see this store being one of my new regular hang-outs. I could browse for hours… and they have a pretty aggressive schedule of events(I got a quarter sheet with my books that had dates of book signings and even a singles book swap event!) that I appreciate… if you feel at home in old bookstores and like digging around, spend an afternoon here!
