Decent BBQ, but disagree with the people who say it is better than Austin or KC. It’s no Franklin’s and it’s n Gates or Jack’s Stack or Arthur Bryant, but it is acceptable BBQ. Ways to improve: Brisket was dry and the smoke ring was almost non existent. Pulled pork was good but not amazing. I like a nice dry rub on the exterior with a little heat and a little sweet. No burnt ends? What happened to that part of the brisket. No sausage or turkey? I wish they had a true sampler platter, I didn’t get to try the ribs. Sauce was good, but most BBQ joints have 3 or more varieties. They only had one, so if you didn’t like the style you are out of luck.

This is by far one of my favorite BBQ joints in the world, and yes, that is even after a weeklong road trip to Austin hitting up every BBQ place we could find between there and DC. I drive down from DC for special occasions and would bath in their BBQ sauce if I could. Some folks might struggle to categorize this kind of BBQ… It doesn’t really fit into the traditional KC vs NC vs TX vs whatever mold. It sort of takes a little from column A, a little from column B, and so on. And I’m pretty sure that’s why I LOVE this place. Looking forward to them opening a spot here in DC(Note to owners: PLEASE make this happen. Richmond is so far away, and I’d work there for ribs!)

The best ribs I’ve ever had. Probably worth driving from DC to Richmond just to eat here.

We showed up at closing time hoping we could still eat. The service was great and the food was delicious. We tried the hush puppies, cornbread, slider sampler meal & fried pickles. Only complaint was that the brisket I had was pretty much just fat. Will definitely return when we visit Richmond!

Prices went up and they CHANGEDTHESAUCE. It’s vinegar based not sugar based now. When i asked«When did they change the sauce?» the waitress(who’s been there for years) said«People keep asking that but they haven’t changed it» LOL ok if multiple people are asking then somethings different DUH. The sides are always delicious though and the staff is always friendly.

The brisket here is top notch and their sauce is sweet and spicy. Also has the greens and the hush puppies which were amazing. This is a lively place with good beers and great service. You won’t be sorry you went here.

Went here for lunch today. Very disappointed. Asked for cole slaw on the sandwich but received it separately. Pork barbecue was dry. Ordered coffee. It tasted burnt, probably sitting in pot for awhile. Server asked if I wanted cream for coffee. Never brought it. Waved to another who said they didn’t have any cream! Their restaurant on Boulevard is great. Always have had a good meal there. Maybe the Parham location is a franchise. Anyway management would seem be somewhat slack at Parham location. Maybe word is out — hardly anyone there at Noon on a Monday! Recommendation: Go to Boulevard one, you will like it.

I will preface this with: I ordered delivery Strike 1: It took OVER1.5 hrs. That is not an exaggeration. On a Tuesday evening… Strike 2: Got the combo(pulled pork/brisket) no bbq sauce was sent on the side. Strike 3: No utensils included. I’m in a hotel… so I sort of need that. The pros: Mmmm collard greens were good and travelled well. The onion rings, although not GREAT on arrival(no longer hot and crispy) had all the potential of being great and probably are if you dine-in. The cons(ish) — Pork… meh. Brisket, meh. I’ve had better. I thought the bread pudding was pretty decent minus the bourbon glaze. I got a bite that tasted really burnt/bitter. I thought it would have been really yummy with choc chips(just an idea :)) All in all, sad I had to pay what I did and wait that long to be left feeling really underwhelmed(and i was STARVING, so it could have been epic) :(

DH and I went the other night for dinner. I’ve been here multiple times, but it was a 1st for him. If you haven’t gone before it may be confusing. You order at a counter, pay, and take your receipt with you. They have a full bar and you can buy drinks from the bar or at the counter when you order your food. After you choose where you want to sit, a food runner will come and get your receipt so they know where to deliver the food. WARNING — we purchased our beer at the same time as our food instead of walking over to the bar and buying it directly from the bartender. Our beer did not arrive until after the food. We were told that the person at the counter sold us a beer they no longer had, but no one came to tell us that until AFTER the food arrived. Just make it easy on yourself and order at the bar. We had some fried pickles to start. Y’all know how I am about my pickles and these are pretty good. The advertise them as Cajun spiced and while you can SEE the spices, I have never tasted them. I had the chicken sandwich with potato salad and plussed up my other side to onion rings. I certainly was in the mood for fried wasn’t I? Now, I like the sauce it comes with, but I always add more at the table because I like a lot. DH had the pulled pork with mac ‘n’ cheese and fries. He was not sure what to do at 1st when the pork came since you dress it yourself at the table. He added some hot sauce 1st and then the BBQ sauce. And he ate the entire thing. I like Buzz and Ned’s when I am over in that area of town, but probably would not make a special trip for it when I can just walk to Alamo.

B & N’s bbq is one of my favorites in Richmond. I first fell in love with their food at their N Blvd location when I lived in Northside, so I was psyched when this new one opened up close to where I live now. As everyone says, this location is much bigger! There’s a good sized bar and a huge dining area, which is nice if you like sitting away from other people, like me. Their food is still super satisfying, specifically that Mac &3 cheese side. Seriously, best Mac & cheese from a BBQ joint in the RVA. My only gripe is that when I was there just now, I saw a Hard Root Beer Float on the table menu. I’m not normally drinking liquor at noon, but with a tres leches liqueur, hard root beer and a scoop of vanilla ice cream, I had to try it! I order it from our server, and she comes back a few minutes later to say they don’t do the root beer float anymore. Okay… why is it on the f@&#ing menu then? I was disappointed for sure. Despite this little menu snafu, I will still continue to enjoy the BBQ at Buz & Ned’s. Take a hike, Mission and Alamo! ;)

Get your motor running… Head out on the highwaaaaaaaay! Looking for adventure… In whatever comes our waaaaaaay… wait, barbecue you say? And barbecue it is! My wife sniffed this place out just from the pits on the side of the building, so we thought: «Why not?!» Upon entrance, we see a big sign saying: «ATTENTION! This is NOT fast food!» And man were they right. We both decided on pulled chicken sandwiches with sauce and whatever sides we desired. May I add the Mac and Three Cheese was on the menu? The waiter was the most awesome guy ever… we didn’t wait long, he was very courteous and it’s nice to see the girls buzzing around to make their customers happy. The sandwiches were the best! The flavor coming off of this meat was as if they grabbed it right off the grill, and not the one from your backyard. I’m talking smokey-make-love-to-yo-*insert* it was so sexy! It’s about the best bbq I’ve had in years. And to top it all off, I had NO idea this was the establishment that won Food Network’s Throwdown with Bobby Flay!!! SCORE! At any rate, I was so impress, especially with the Mac and Three Cheese, I took some to go to eat after my workout. Buz and Ned’s, I am SO driving back down to get my hands nasty with yo ribs babbaaay!

We stepped out of the car on a rainy day to be immediately greeted by the sweet smell of woodsmoke. I knew it was going to be amazing and it was. I had the brisket sandwich with okra and hush puppies, the husband had the slider combo with beans and hush puppies, the kids had Mac and cheese and a hot dog. Brisket was fabulous but a bit salty and fatty in bites. The okra was amazing and perfectly cooked. The husband devoured his sliders and I wish I had ordered that as you can get three different choices of meats to sample. The kids liked theirs so no complaints there. Service was good and the table waiter was awesome. The girl taking orders up front was a bit cold and unwelcoming but whatever. Ambiance is awesome with wooden booths and casual stools around wooden tables. Great for kids.

I feel like it’s hard at times to separate eating BBQ and the experience of eating BBQ. I’ve had some good BBQ but by no means is my list of BBQ joints exhaustive. But I’m certain that when you’ve eaten good BBQ, you just know it and this place didn’t quite do it for me. First, the pricing for the ribs was a bit on the pricey side for what you get. It says«half rack» on the menu but I observed the cooks counting the ribs and cutting off some so you get specific amount(he took a whole rack, cut it in half and then proceeded to slice off a rib from each?!). When the menu says half rack, they should, you know, slice a rack in half and serve it… The ribs themselves were alright. Nothing to write home about(I got the baby back ribs); they were a bit in the dry side and didn’t have the smokey flavor indicative of good REALBBQ(ironic). There was one type of BBQ sauce at the table which was quite run of the mill, like something you can pick up at the chain grocery store. The sides were decent but again, nothing too great. I got the fried okra which I had hoped would come out whole fried for dipping but didn’t and the coleslaw which was enjoyable as it was swimming in mayonnaise. It is a sad experience when you have mediocre BBQ!

This review is for great customer service. I was waiting on my to go order for 15 minutes. the manager noticed and asked me for my ticket so she can check on it. turns out there was a mix up and my food wasn’t ready but she offered me a fill refund and brought my food our shortly thereafter. I frequent this place, so I’m glad they were such an excellent staff.

We have had to make weekly trips to Richmond every Saturday for a doctor that my wife sees, so we have been taking advantage of trying new restaurants while we are there. We had seen signs for Buzz and Neds and tried to keep them in mind for one of our trips. I’m so glad we finally got to try this place. Seriously some of the best BBQ I’ve ever had! Wasn’t sure what I wanted when we went in and one of the staff approached me to offer help. Fortunately, I took his great advice and ordered the 3 slider combo(brisket, chicken and pork) and I ordered a half-rack of spare ribs. This gave me a nice way to sample a lot of different meats(and it didn’t beak my wallet!). Oh, and I ordered a bowl of chili(loaded with 6 types of peppers and 4 kinds of meat). I had to take a lot of this food home, because it was WAY more than I could eat. So looking forward to eating those leftovers! Did I say I ordered a half-rack of ribs? When they came out they took up a huge plate. I had to make sure the waitress knew that I only ordered half not full. Could not imagine what a full rack looks like! I can’t say enough good about the food and I can’t say which type of meat I ate was my favorite — it was ALL so good. Even the sides. We ordered baked beans, cucumber and onion salad, mac and cheese, fried pickles and fried okra. The cucumber and onion salad is something like I make at home, except theirs is a little sweet. Loved it! The waitress offered a sample of the collard greens to my wife and she swears these are the tastiest ever! If I had to offer any critical remarks, it would be that the coleslaw was good, but I do like what my mother and mother-in-law make better. I prefer a sweet coleslaw. But, I’m not saying it was bad. So, to make sure other people agreed with our love of the food here, we took home a pound each of the following: brisket, pork, cucumber/onion salad, baked beans, cinnamon bourbon apples and collard greens. We shared this with our in-laws(who are also BBQ connoisseurs, and they fully agreed that this was some of the best food they’ve had. Not only was the food great, but the atmosphere was fantastic, the staff was so nice and helpful(we met the floor manager, Victoria, who actually waited on our table). She was so nice and gave us the history lesson on the place. We even had a great conversation with Stacie, the Ops manager. We were telling her that Buzz needs to open a location in Hampton Roads! Please, Buzz!!! Do yourself a favor and stop in for some amazing food! And, as a final word, they beat Iron Chef Bobby Flay in a throw-down!

Went here with a friend midweek for dinner. Place not too crowded. I absolutely love the big sink with multiple spigots upon entry. You can wash your hands as soon as you enter and after eating those yummy ribs. The place is well lit and open and airy. It has a good vibe. We sat at the bar. Our bartender was friendly. Drink was good. I wasn’t exactly sure about the difference in the ribs so we walked up to the cooks and asked. They showed us the different ribs and explained the different fat content etc. I got the regular pork ribs. The BBQ itself was delicious. And the extra BBQ sauce my weakness. My side of cole slaw was a bit too mild and the baked beans deliciously smoky. Although I prefer them sweeter, they were good. If I was in this area again, I would definitely return!

Stopped in specifically for Brisket tonight since I usually get the baby back ribs. Brisket was pretty good overall but not 5 star. Sides are starting to disappoint here as tonight I got 6 cold hush puppies and the baked beans were nothing special. The most inexpensive thing to make in this restaurant has to be cole slaw and they continue to tease you with fork size cups that barely allow you to taste it. Tonight the brisket satisfied and my server Julie was great. Everything else was forgettable. I love this spot but I have to call them like it is. Please lose the awful black plastic utensils. I am going to start bringing my own real utensils.
