I’ve lived in the East Bay for over 10 years and I’ve never been able to find a great car wash to bring my vehicles. Since I was 16, I’ve always lowered my cars, purchased wheels and tires, etc., making it impossible to go through a drive-​through car wash. Not only that, but those types of car washes simply don’t do a good job. Furthermore, I don’t exactly have the funds to have a detailer come to my residence every 2 weeks. I needed to find a business that washes hands by car, takes pride in what they do, and doesn’t charge an arm and leg. Enter Chalk’s Auto Salon.
As with just about everything, one day I was looking around Unilocal and came across Chalk’s listing and I was intrigued. It had a near perfect 5 stars and for some reason, I had never come across it before. Everything I read was overall pretty positive and to expect long waits but incredible service. Well, I finally drove my lowered Scion XB to Chalk’s and when I pulled up, I let them know I wanted only an exterior wash, no work on the inside. The young employee took the keys, and told me I could go in their waiting room. I thankfully brought some entertainment on my iPad.
I would say about an hour later, my car was pulled up front where they went ahead and did some last touches and detailing. Even from inside the waiting room, it was obvious this was the best car wash I’ve paid for in years. Once they told me my car was ready, I was stunned at not only the work but what they charged me; $ 10. I immediately gave the employee a 100% tip and told him I’ll be back soon.
Sure enough, I’ve been going to Chalk’s ever since, and have since recommended it to friends and family. Recently my mom purchased a used car and the interior was pretty filthy. I called up Chalk’s to see how much they’d charge to detail the inside and the quote was right about at $ 100, which sounded reasonable to me. I booked the appointment and left the car there for a few hours and once we got the car back, it was a difference of night and day. My mom was just as impressed and if not more.
I can’t say nothing but great things about Chalk’s. There are some drawbacks to the low prices and great service, however but nothing major. The lines can be long, so I suggest dropping you car off and coming back for it a few hours later or coming early in the day before the rush and avoiding the crowds on weekends. Lastly, Chalk’s is cash only so be sure to stop at an ATM before and don’t forget to tip these hard working guys.

Called in for a quote to get the yack smell out of my car… long story short a friend had too much to drink and yada yada yada.
The gentlemen on the phone quoted me $ 165 and said they would need the car for a few hours to treat it, disinfect, etc.
When I got there, I spoke to the owner who was very nice and said they would take care of it. Since the smell was coming from the back seat, he asked if I could lift it up so the person working on the car would take notice and clean that area.
We brought the car in on a Saturday morning around 9am and it was ready by 4pm. When we went to pick up the car, the owner was gone and there was only two employees left. From afar, I could smell a very strong shampoo smell, which is great or so I thought. I took a whiff of the seat and could still smell the sourness of the barf… not good.
We talked to the guy who worked on our car and he said he had no idea that he was supposed to work on the seat. That kind of annoyed me but he was nice enough to call the owner and said we could bring it back tomorrow for no charge. The owner even said he’d drop off our car for us if we couldn’t come back to pick it up!

I brought my Mercedes here to get detailed after hearing great reviews. The owner and staff are very friendly. I had no clue I worked not too far from here. Very convenient location. They do an excellent and thorough job. Very reasonably priced. I will be a weekly customer!

Professional and hard working guys, very friendly and accommodating. Even better, I got into my Subaru toddler wagon after an interior detail and it looked and felt BRAND NEW. There was a miscommunication about the service I wanted, but they washed the exterior and only charged for $ 10 extra bucks. Can’t say enough about Chalks! They are the best.

My auto repair shop in Auburn, CA recommended that I have my Subaru’s engine steam cleaned in order that a complete visual underside check be done. Since my next stop was in Co Co County I booked an appointment with Chalk’s. The price was a fair one and the car was ready at the time they quoted.
Today the car went back to the repair shop for the underside inspection. They were very impressed with the thoroughness of the job — they had me come out to the shop while it was up on the racks to show me how clean it was and stated that there had been oil from one end to the other. Not a spot could be seen today (a week after the engine clean and 175 miles). The repair shop asked who had performed the service in order that they refer all of their clients to this detail shop. Good job Chalk’s team! I will go back for an interior detail the next time i am in the area.

I have three kids, a dog, and a five-​year-​old Prius. I could no longer stand driving my car, it was so nasty. I called my auto repair shop and got referred to Chalk’s. I had the 4-​hour total detail. What a difference! People think I have a new car. They scrubbed everything humanly possible out of the upholstery, shined up the wheels, polished the paint… I feel like I have a new car!

Great deal for quality and price — they totally cleaned every nook and cranny of my car.

It’s kinda easy to miss the spot, because part of their windows are covered up, so at first I wasn’t sure if the place was an operating business.
There is usually a catch to every great deal, right?
Unfortunately this place is cash only and the wait can be long.

Great place to bring your car for a great hand wash! They clean the car very well and are very fair priced. I’m super picky about my car being cleaned & they met my expectations. My only suggestion is to give yourself enough time to wait for the job. I had no wait, but it took close to an hour for one guy to wash & vacuum my car. Honestly, time was the only thing that brought my rating down, BUT THE JOB WAS GOOD! If they picked up the pace a bit I would come here 3x more & pay double, that’s how good they wash. I for sure will return for a wax & detail when I get a free day.

I’m pretty sure they gave me someone else’s truck because mine’s never been that clean! I brought my wife’s car here first and was very impressed. The job on my truck was equally amazing. Great value. Highly recommended.

I’ve taken car of my car decently over the years, but have never had it detailed because I thought it was just an upselling technique for companies to make extra money spraying on some cheap waxes and extra glossy Armorall.
I seriously don’t think I paid enough for what I got in return. I got the full works and now my car is mirror smooth, my interior is stain and debris/​dust free, my wheels look brand new (they removed all the caked on brake dust), and there’s an amazingly glossy finish to my paint.
These guys are truly professional, everyone is friendly, and they definitely do not take any shortcuts. Only caveat is that they are cash only and turn around/​wait times can be hours long.

I would give this place 10 stars if I could. Have been getting my car cleaned here for years and they have never let me down. Prepare to spend a little bit of time but it’s because they do a very thorough job — all hand washed for a very reasonable price. It’s like you get a detail job for the price of a regular wash. This place is a hidden jem and the owner is always nice and pleasant!

I waited three hours so plan to drop the car off for a while. I paid about $ 50 to get the carpet cleaned. Great service highly recommend.

Whoa! I’ve been there twice and by golly, they are hard working folks and the price is just amazing!!! Woohoo! You won’t regret it as their workmanship is solid. Keep in mind that they are popular even car dealership folks are using them, they can be busy. So be patient and your reward will be worthy.

My first time waxing my car I can tell the big difference. It’s more shinny and smooth. The price is really good here compare to other places.

My family and I have brought our cars here for a full detail multiple times over the years and we have always been very happy with the results. The rates are very reasonable for the amount of time they put into the job.

When my truck needed a lot of attention because I hadn’t taken care of the paint in years and the interior had numerous stains on the carpet I heard about this place and gave it a shot. I figured it would take all day so I dropped it off in the morning to let them take their time and planned on picking it up in the late evening.
I couldn’t have been happier with the result!!! The paint felt silky smooth and all of the black rubber parts that had faded were shiny black again. The interior had received the same attention to detail as well. The leather seats had been cleaned and conditioned. The dash, door panels, windows, and trunk were spotless!
After that experience I brought in my BMW M3, my Explorer, my wife’s CRV, my mom’s Jaguar, and my dad’s Mercedes. I’m also considering taking my boat there too for a nice polish.
Highly recommend!!!
