If you can afford to stay anywhere else, do so. On the plus side, they cleaned the leaf filled pool when I asked.

The bed was comfortable and right of the 95 extremely convenient. But that’s it! Nonsmoking room had cigarette butts all over the patio and once the heat went on you could smell everything. The room needed serious upgrades. Free coffee, yes but it came with ants. Not me again in this one.

We booked this hotel last minute while on a road trip.
The Good: The hotel is conveniently located off Route 95 and near the CVU (Commonwealth Virginia University) campus. The room itself is clean and beds comfortable. The University location offers lots of nice dining options within a 5 minute drive.
The Bad: It is located right next to Route 95 and it is extremely noisy. The hotel itself also has a bar and banquet halls. The bar was playing loud music that resonated in our room. The rooms are in a separate building directly across from the check-​in area, banquet hall and bar. The two buildings are separated by the pool and people were hanging outside and talking loudly. We also smelled pot smoking. Neither of us got a good nights sleep.
Had we known the hotels proximity to the highway, we would not have booked this property. We would not stay here again due to that reason alone.

Very old and run down.
Would not recommend it if you have children. Buildings feel unsafe.
Equipment in workout room didn’t work, ice maker and other items not working.
I paid 89 a nite, however I thing 49 would be fair.
Only go if have to.

Everything that they say about this place is true and then some. The most disgusting, abhorrent experience I’ve ever had the displeasure of experiencing at a hotel that I’ve paid to stay at.
Dirty. Noisy. Old. Filthy. Non-​existent service. Unfortunately, my wife and I didn’t really have a choice of where to stay during our road trip. This Clarion was our only choice for a reasonable price.
Let me tell you something right now. Pay whatever you have to pay to NOT stay at this place. Whatever deal you find for this place, even that’s overpriced for what you get.
It’s not a joke when they say this place is a transient hotel. Or that there’s active prostitution going on here. Or active drug deals. It’s all true and then some. You will experience the very lowest of humanity when you stay here. Make sure you also lock your car in the parking lot, because there’s a chance it won’t be there when you wake up otherwise.

One star is way better than this rat trap deserves. One of the beds had a huge stain from the leaky ceiling, dogs barking, annoying rap music next door and drunk people yelling and running down the hall at two in the morning. Stay away from this turd of a hotel.

Definitely not the place for a solo female traveler to feel secure. When I was checking in, the guy behind the counter wrote my room number on the little envelope, and instead of just handing it to me and giving me directions to the general area, he LOUDLY announced my room number, advertising to the other guests in the lobby where I was staying. Protecting guests’ privacy is so basic! I should have asked to switch rooms right there (or just cancel and leave…) but was a bit stunned!
I was looking forward to a good night’s sleep but got woken up by loud neighbors at 1:30. I tried to call the front desk for about 15 minutes to complain, and i couldn’t get anyone on the phone. I was not about to wander out of my room to pound on doors myself. The rowdy neighbors finally shut up around 2am.
The room itself was clean enough and the bed quite comfortable, and I had an OK meal at Nacho Mama’s. The layout of the separate buildings was a bit confusing, and there was not a lot of light along the walkways. Overall, I’m glad I only stayed the one night and will not be back.

Run!!! Bed bugs ate me up. I went to the front desk to show them my skin. Kevin said bed bugs don’t bite like that. So I decided to inspect the room with the agent. After removing the mattress and the bed skirt we found a whole family living in there. My arms, legs, back and face ruined. I didn’t pay for the room. Still waiting on a call from a manager… tear this place down!!! Room 201 yuck!!!

No doubt, the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had in my life. I walked in and waited for 15 minutes. No one came to the desk. I called the phone and nothing. A maintenance worker came by and I asked her. She said she didn’t know and walked away to take a smoke break. After 15 minutes a man came out but did not apologize, explain or even acknowledge that I had been standing there waiting.
I asked to check-​in and had requested an early check-​in two weeks ago when I booked and again early that morning. He said he could not assist. I understand it’s not guaranteed but was not apologetic or even seemed like he cared. I
More importantly, the hotel lobby was disgusting. The parking lot was in bad shape, a guest standing out front with his shirt off (???) and it smelled like smoke.
This 20 minute experience was so bad that I literally walked out the door and drove away with my wife. I contacted choice hotels and they sent this hotel the message and asked to reach out to me. After three weeks, we heard nothing. They clearly don’t care.

I’m not one to ever give bad reviews but this is the most disgusting hotel I ever stayed in. We checked into our first room and found stains all over the bed and a chicken bone. After complaining they sent us to another room where we founds blood stain on the sheet and what looked like poop stain on a towel. After complaining again they moved us back to our original room with new sheets. I am so grossed out to even be staying here it’s crazy. Our shower water has an awful smell and the toilet paper literally feels like using card board. After the room service came in they forgot to give us new towels so again we went to complain and were told the washing machine is broken and we would get towels eventually. Really. Never ever staying here again. I feel like I need a can of Lysol and a hiv shot after staying in this room. Disgusting.

Been staying here for years for the spring Richmond race, unfortunately, I won’t be back. I have several large welts from what I believe are bed bugs.

We didn’t know this place had such unfavorable ratings until we had already booked it on a special.
The layout is a little strange since you walk into the lobby but you’re immediately shown outside to get to your room.
Passing by the pool we noticed that it needed to be cleaned and there was no real lock on the gate so children could wander in. A little scary!
Parking is «okay» but there seems to be residents actually living at the hotel so there is limited space.
The hallways to our room had me a bit panicky about just exactly what I’d find but the rooms were surprisingly above what I was expecting. Maybe I was setting my expectations too low? There were no bugs, no weird smells, the bathroom while tiny was clean, the carpet wasn’t dingy, it felt «secure» enough in our room and we had tons of pillows which always make me happy. My only complaint was since we were on the side by the restaurant inside the hotel it was very loud. They were having an event with loud music and when we called the place to ask when they’d be done, they hurried us off the phone with a lame «Uhh…like 8?». Well past 9:30 they were still bumping and thumping but eventually tapered off.
We didn’t need much in the way of amenities since we only stayed two nights but on on our second day while we were leaving we noticed that the police were at the property and from what we gathered it appeared someone had broken into someone else’s room and stolen some items. Thankfully nothing like that happened to us.
Is this hotel good? It’s just good enough to stay if you’re passing through for a night or two, otherwise I’d say stay somewhere else a little nicer.

Please do not stay here. One if the worst places we have stayed. We had to put a garbage can under the sink to keep the drain water from running all over the floor. There were cigarette burns all over the comforter. Room was dirty. Stairwell was discussing. We came back to our room after the race and none of our room keys worked and neither did any other guest in the hotel. The front desk clerk acted like it was something we were doing wrong. He never asked for ID to prove that we were the guest in that room and just gave us we keys. We went to check out and complained but the clerk just yawned and said nothing. None of the emergency lighting was working. Just glad we didn’t need it. No towels or sanitizer in the «fitness center» only one treadmill worked. The pool is just a large bathtub. All the lounge chairs are falling apart. It is apparent that the owners don’t care.

While visiting with a large group, our friend’s hotel room was given access by the staff to someone else.
He arrived back to find his room ransacked, his belongings had been strewn across the room, his food had been eaten and there was drug paraphernalia and residue on the bed.
As bad as all that was, the hotel staff seemed to be not too concerned. At first they claimed they had accidently given access to the room to a blind man. As the story changed over and over, they refused access to video and were rather unfazed by the seriousness of the situation.
They did offer to comp the night. WOW! Can horror stories like this happen? Yes, if you decide to stay here!
Please take this as a warning! This is not an merely act of someone breaking in but that the staff themselves allowed access to either a stranger or other employees.
Clarion, please consider doing an audit of this property and remove your name before the chain becomes liable for future transgressions.

I hate to leave bad reviews, but this hotel was terrible on so many levels. Cigarette burns in our sheets, ants in our room, bright pink stains on the towels, and wireless that doesn’t connect. When we called about the wireless, the hotel employee said «hold on while I reset it to kick everyone off, so you can sign on.» When we were kicked off multiple times shortly after and unable to reconnect, I can only assume that someone else called and he did the same.
Worst was the customer service when I called back about a pair of shoes I may have left in the room. The employee told me he’d go check without even asking me my room number, and when I offered to provide it to him, he acted annoyed and huffed «I can assure you they are not in the room.» I’m pretty sure they are, but I won’t be coming back to find out.

Well, we waited for a long time to check in to our room. We stayed here on our way to the Outer Banks on our road trip. The front desk was not equipped to handle money, customers or do anything an infant monkey could do. Our «non-​smoking» room REEKED of cigarette smoke. The hallways were loud. We both woke up with our lungs bothering us from the stinky room. We would NEVER recommend this for a stay. We stayed here 7÷4÷14.

A solid 3-​stars. Very solid. Nice pool and on site restaurant. Room was clean and plenty big. Workout facility was not much to speak of — a couple of cheap treadmills and a stationary bike. Pool was a little small, but really nice. A very good motel, especially for the price. It’s not luxury, but don’t expect that for the price.

If possible, I would say a zero star-​rating is generous.
Pulled in drive way & first thing I see is a large man in a doorway of a room doing, what I can only assume is, pimping. Later that night, he’s got a large & lovely lady standing in same said doorway in short shorts smoking a cigarette. CLASSY.
Turned my head right, and the balcony of the CHAIRMANS tower (where we were located) had screaming children on it.
If this is the CHAIRMANS Tower then I would hate to see who the chairman is… he’s obviously chairman of the crack board.
The neighborhood… reminiscent of EAST OAKLAND.
We walk into the sliding door into the foyer where the elevators are, and get assaulted with a fog of gas? roach killer? Dead body? Whatever it was, it complimented the stench in the elevator.
The room… standard, basic… no frills.
Worried about my Audi in the parking lot all night.
