I know anyone reading this is thinking«4 Stars for Dillard’s?» but my reason is simple: this town lacks good shopping options. This store has the best options in a 30 mile radius(that I could find) for suits and dresses. If your traveling here for business, pack any clothing item you«might» need. Otherwise, your options are Kohls, JCPenney and Sears– that is all.

I love Dillard’s and it is by far the best store Richmond has in the mall. They have great sales although they are not all that often. New Years Day is their very best sale of the year. I’ve been shopping there for years and will continue to do so.

I often forget Dillard’s is here in Richmond because it’s tucked so far behind the«mall». It’s your standard Macy’s-type department store but on a smaller scale. Every February they have an awesome shoe sale where I’ve been known to walk out with 3 or 4 pairs of shoes and boots for under $ 100 total(honey, I’m «spaving“‘ spending and saving at the same time, amazing!!). There’s supposed to be a crazy after-Christmas sale that’s boasts 50% off and more. I need to check it out. Otherwise, glad to have a decent department store in humble Richmond.

I’m on the fence about this particular Dillard’s. On one hand, they have great sales. I just got a dress there for 80% off, making it right around $ 15.00. They always have gorgeous clearance jewelry, housewares and formal wear, and it’s the only local place I can find dress shoes in my hard-to-find size(5 ½). With a few exceptions, however, the staff here is horrible. They are either completely dismissive or outwardly rude. The 80% dress I mentioned had a couple deodorant streaks on the skirt from someone else trying it on. It was on a rack where everything was marked at 70%, but I asked the girl who rang me up if she could take an extra 10% off for the stains I’d have to remove myself. She rolled her eyes, sighed and called a supervisor to get permission. Lovely. Another woman at the Estee Lauder counter flat-out lied to my mom about the price she promised to give her on an item that had to be ordered. When we came to get it, I asked about a lip gloss color that was also out of stock. She said«We’re all out» and that was it. No offer to order it or anything. I called to complain and was put on hold for 15 minutes before I finally hung up. Several other times, I’ve needed to ask a question about a price or a size and either can’t locate anyone in a department or get a similar reaction that I got from the girl in the junior’s department about the stained dress. But since we don’t typically have to deal with the staff at Dillard’s in order to take advantage of their great prices, it gets three stars from me.
