KimKim sauce was started by Steven Kim(previous owner of Kimbo’s by VCU). The sauce is like ssamjang, and he had it available at one of his dinner garden parties, which became a hit. It was adapted from his mom’s recipe, and he supposedly wrote ‘KimKim’ on the bottle with a Sharpie and ta da! I love the fact that it’s a local sauce(Kim is a W&M grad, and he’s in Richmond), and it’s not too spicy nor too sweet. Most ssamjang sauces are on the sweeter side, but adds a nice Korean flair and pizazz to any dish(I had mine on a pig’s head eggs benedict and it was MONEY!!!) — you can add it to noodle dishes, mac n’ cheese, scrambled eggs, a dip for meats or bbqs, etc. It is also a winner of the ’12 Sofi Gold Award — woot woot! You can find this sauce at Harris Teeter(VA/MD), Taste Unlimited(VA), The Williamsburg Pottery(VA), Feast(Charlottesville), Whole Foods(Richmond & Charlottesville), and Bennett’s Creek Farm Market(Chesapeake). Check them out! :D +KimKim sauce
