Was here a few months ago with a friend who’s Porsche broke down while we were on a road trip.
Robert and his team quickly diagnosed the common problem, water pump. He took into account that we were on a road trip and fit is in that day. We picked up the car the next day and were on our way. It was a pleasant experience dealing with Lufteknic given our situation. If I lived in the area and drove a Porsche this would be my new shop. Thanks guys!

I’ve been a customer and supporter of Lufteknic for about 8 years. I brought in my ’91 Carrera 2 for servicing and tuneup after purchase. Robert and his team were honest about what it needed most, what could wait, and what to do in the future. They performed a valve job, suspension upgrade, wiring replacement, tire balancing, etc. Basically they took it from a rough-​around-​the-​edges find into a sturdy, reliable automobile I was able to drive from D.C. to Los Angeles in five days with no trouble. Moreover, when my car was stolen off the street in L.A., Robert himself contacted friends and colleagues all over the west coast to see what help he could provide. These days I happily make the drive from D.C. to Richmond for work on my E39 M5 (which Robert helped me track down). The Lufteknic team took care of every warning light and little issue while keeping me updated throughout the process. If you have a German car you’re passionate about — one that you maybe want to tastefully upgrade, drive daily, or pass down to the next generation — do yourself a favor and bring it here. The reason that their work takes time is because they do it right the first time.

Robert and the family at Lufteknic continue to amaze me with their patience and knowledge. Lufteknic spent over 2 hours inspecting a pre-​owned Porsche for me. They reviewed the machine end to end and provided detail on the good and bad, as well as went over the machine diagnostics with me. He has seen various conditions of these cars and had so much perspective to offer. He was honest about the features and condition of the car.
I do not know my current car at this level of detail He knew what to look for — and could flag non-​obvious signs of wear, impending replacements, leaks, extra features, etc. he was able to reveal history of the automobile — the bumper was replaced, but it had original paint, and bolts etc. I was intrigued with all of the details.
They provide expertise details about the car that enabled me to move forward with questions answered.
I rely on their honesty, professionalism. He’s more than a mechanic/​owner –more like a subject matter expert. Lufteknic minimized the risk of purchasing a pre-​owned car by uncovering facts during the pre-​purchase inspection!

After having my car for more than 5 weeks, I did not receive a single phone call from them. Communication was non-​existent until I called them, and even then they didn’t call me back like they said they would. No apologies, just said that they were «really busy.»
They could not diagnose the problem with my car. They said it might be a broken valve spring but it would cost about $ 3k just to open the engine up and figure it out (would require replacing timing belt and rollers, etc). So they charged me $ 240 for what «could be» a broken valve spring. I opened the engine myself and found no broken valve springs after disassembling the head. They supposedly checked out the entire fuel, ignition, and computer system but I highly doubt if they did. Now I don’t know what to do.

Spent $ 5k on repairs here. Car ran so badly when I came to pick it up that we had to push it on the trailer.
