Muse Creative Workspace is a 5,000 sq. ft. renovated warehouse, equipped with ambient lighting, sound, baby grand piano, bass and drum set. The venue offers transitional seating with spacious upper loft and intimate atmosphere. This facility is perfect for gallery showings, live performances, recording/​rehearsal space, on going classes/​lectures and cultural community events.

The facility has 2 areas available for public use as priority is given to activities that are suitable to Muse Creative Workspace’s artistic mission and role as a cultural arts facility.

Our facility also houses several professional and youth jazz ensembles. These ensembles are perfect for concerts, educational workshops, festivals and event entertainment. Our ensembles provide high-​quality performance and create a culturally enlightening experience for event attendees.

History

Established in 2007.

Muse Creative Workspace was created in 2007 by composer, pianist and social entreprenuer Ashby Anderson. The renovated warehouse serves as Ashby’s studio and production space for his original creative works.

Muse dually serves as a music education and cultural arts facility; offering performance, rehearsal/​recording and meeting space for community/​public use.

Meet the Business Owner

Ashby A.

Business Owner

Ashby Anderson is a multi-​faceted artist who explores music theory, composition, performance, music education and entrepreneurship with a passion. Like a modern day Picasso of music, he works out of his renovated historic warehouse for artistic inspiration. Ashby creates, produces and presents his original works at his Shockoe Bottom studio. He believes in sharing his talent and love for music with his community, thus using his space to host community concerts, music education programs and workshops/​forums.
