Love the staff and the food. There are no strangers there, you walk in and you feel welcomed. Enjoyed the time I’ve spend there. I’ve heard some great bands there to. Strongly recommend grabbing some friends and hanging out 1 night.

I grew up in the west end of Henrico. All my life the thought of traveling along Jefferson Davis Hwy was akin to thoughts of traveling through the most dangerous jungles with steak strapped to your back, and any thought of actually stopping at any establishment along the way was, well, NEVER considered. Its a different story today along many sections of this historic road, as the Latin immigrant population, although still somewhat lacking in communication skills that would afford them more English speaking patronage, has taken over a lot of the once-run-down shops and converted them into eateries, flea markets, auto shops, etc. that are full of interesting and unique items, clothing, fruits, vegetables and cuisine, and should be visited and experienced despite any trepidation about dealing with a different population than one might find in the malls of Short Pump. Although the flavor and texture of these blocks of storefronts lining the highway have changed, and blended over these recent years, some traditional bars and shops remain. One such neighborhood bar is Mustang Sally’s Pub & Grub, previously«Newmans.» A Classic American neighborhood dive bar with friendly locals, good live Southern Rock/Blues on the Sunday I visited, cold beer, whiskey if you want it, a couple pool tables, some old video games, all in a clean, calm environment with smiling, mostly older than 40 faces, with some young twenties and thirties scattered about, welcoming everyone from every walk of life. It’s a nice, homey feeling, laid-back place to go and hang for hours. The band was excellent. Smoking inside at the main bar is allowed, and although I didn’t try the food the locals beside me attested to it positively. Plenty of car and motorcycle parking out front along this very safe area of Jefferson Davis Hwy. Let go your preconceived notions and go play a few rounds of pool, listen to some blues and have a cold one… Then go back and explore the ethnic side of Jefferson Davis Hwy — Speaking Spanish is NOT a prerequisite(:
