First time here, and at lunchtime. I had the 3pc chicken finger meal with fries and a sweet tea. First, lets talk about the chicken… the chicken was super tender and the breading was crispy and delicious. The canes sauce was a good dip for the chicken, Im not sure what it is exactly, but I liked it. Now… the fries… meh… the fries were a total let down. They were the most unseasoned blandest crinkle cut fries ever! The sweet tea… now… this was truly a southern sweet tea… a super sweet-give-you-diabetes-kind-of-sweet. but I loved it. Lol. last but certainly not least… the texas toast bread… ohhh myyy goddd was this bread tasty. Buttery… sweet and delicious… I mean smack-somebody soft and delicious. Im a bread person so this hit me in the heart. Aside from the location and parking being the typical downtown pita… This is a good quick meal on the run.

I have mixed feelings on Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers … as far as fast food goes, Chick Fil A has them beat with seasoning/breading on their chicken. It doesn’t really taste like anything to me. But their Texas toast is mouth watering, for sure! This Franchise is owned by VCU and is good for a quick bite if you want to grab and go.

I love Cane’s, it’s been a crucial part of my first semester at VCU. The service, the elegant atmosphere, and the general community of love created through gourmet cuisine… just exquisite.

This is a college dining hall with erratic hours. They are closed on the weekends during the summer. Don’t waste your time coming here if you’re a roadtripper, who knows whether they’ll be open or closed.

It’s best when they cook it as ordered instead of warm sitting back there waiting under a lamp

We were driving south on I-95 and were joking about getting some good chicken fingers, so we googled Raising Cane’s and literally drove about 15 minutes out of our way to come to this instead of bypassing Richmond. It is in a small college cafeteria with some other chain restaurants. You are really only going here for the chicken fingers and the sauce. The fries are ok, a drink is a drink… but the chicken fingers and sauce… OMG!!! There is ZERO healthy about this meal, so do an extra few miles on the treadmill before you come here so you can just order a lot and enjoy it. I think this place puts Zaxby’s to shame. It is on par with Guthries fried Chicken of the Alabama region.

Okay, so my rating for this place is probably going to seem like a contradiction to my review. I really like going to Cane’s… But this is mostly because I was attending VCU when it first opened up in RVA and when I do go these days, I’m with a huge group of friends and at least one of them will offer to swipe me a meal. Food wise? It used to be much better. The first semester it was open the chicken was so tender and crispy. These days you’re lucky if you don’t dry your mouth out with a bite. The Cane’s sauce definitely helps though and the toast is still amazing to me. So unless you’re a college kid dining with a group of friends, you probably won’t enjoy eating here.

So simple yet so amazing. Raising Cane’s was brought o my attention by a friend in Charlottesville. He raved about their chicken strips and Cane’s sauce. I had to try it. I finally convinced Casey P to come with me for a delicious meal. This location is in the VCU caffeteria it seems. It’s like one big food court and they are one of the vendors. So if you’re annoyed by lame college kids, get it to go. The food is tride and true. Order the«Box» and an extra Cane’s sauce. You’ll thank me later.

There’s fingers are awesome and the sauce makes all the difference on fries. The rest of the big box is fine, nothing special. The fingers are the perfect. Not too crispy and the skin doesn’t fall off as you eat.

Ryan C., fellow Unilocaler, had this place bookmarked and kept insisting we come here so I eventually gave in. A friend of his had sworn by the dip they had, and, I must say, that is some combination of flavors! We didn’t realize it, but this place is a part of VCU’s little cafeteria, with an IHOP Express and a salad and wrap place called Croutons. There is a huge area of tables, but there’s also a lot of students hanging out. It sort of took me back, to the good olé JC at George Mason University. But we didn’t have something as dynamite as Raising Cane’s! Their menu is very limited, so Ryan and I both ordered chicken finger meals, his with 4 pieces and coleslaw, mine with 3 pieces and no coleslaw. They both came with crinkle cut fries, a container of their awesome dip, and«Texas Toast.» First, the positive: the dip! It’s peppery, it’s sour, I thought maybe I tasted tarter sauce in there… what I thought was really awesome is that this place made something as secretive and hard to repeat as a dip recipe their shining menu item. You can’t get it anywhere else, and that is a great business model. The chicken was crispy and tender, and the outside had a similar spice combination as traditional fried chicken. The fries were not even that bad, as I usually see crinkle cut and think frozen, but combined with that dip, I was lapping it up. My –1 star comes from what they call«Texas Toast.» Have they ever seen Texas Toast??? I used to buy them frozen before drastically changing my dinner making methods(a lot more fresh, a lot less frozen), and I was so excited to be seeing my old friend Texas Toast for dinner. What I got instead was a slice of hamburger bun, toasted with a smidge of butter(maybe? I couldn’t taste it). Ryan liked his, I see Dominic B. liked his, but I was disappointed. Maybe I got a bad batch. Overall, the chicken and dip alone are great reasons to make at least one visit.

Canes. Where do I even begin with this gem of a chicken restaurant. Everytime I’ve gone there I’ve had a great experience. As I type this Unilocal review someone sitting behind me in the library just opened up their box ‘o canes. Boy that smells good! That buttery Texas Toast aroma is filling up my nostrils. Oh my I just got a wiff of that peppery delicious canes sause and my tummy is now grumblin’! ONELOVE

Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers is one of the best chicken fingers I’ve tasted. Crispy on the outside and tender inside. The fries that comes with the chicken fingers is pretty good. The Texas toast is soft & buttery. The cole slaw was average at best. At Raising Cane’s its about the chicken finger and they are delicious .The special sauce that comes with the meal compliment the chicken fingers to perfection. I always ask for more sauce. The service is usually pretty fast. Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers is located on VCU campus, during the semester this place can become crowded. Parking can be a hassle because of the location. The best chicken fingers in Richmond, VA goes to Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers!
