Sylvan Spirit is a ceramic jewelry line made by Rebecca Worth who lives in Richmond and her mother Maureen Worth who lives in northern Virginia. Sylvan Spirit originally gained fame when they began designing intricate tiaras for brides that could later have chains attached to them and be worn as necklaces. A nice way to get more use out of a fancy tiara you might only wear once. Today they still make the tiaras along with a full line of jewelry featuring beautiful hand-sculpted flowers. There’s also a bride-specific collection. I particularly like the pieces that feature cala lillys. They are elegant and stylish. The nice thing about the regular jewelry line is that there are high-end pieces, but you can also get simple pendants to put on your own chain that allow you to have a handcrafted piece of jewelry even if your budget isn’t huge. I bought one of the cala lilly pendants I like as a very affordable birthday gift for a friend. The newest addition to the line is Cake Jewelry, hand-sculpted flowers made to adorn wedding cakes. There are also cake charms, or little charms that are threaded on a ribbon and placed between the layers of a cake. Guests or bridesmaids can pull the charms out and then wear them as pendants. Cute idea! Custom orders are welcome. You can find Sylvan Spirit at various stores around town, including Compass, Heidi Story and the VMFA Shop. You can also buy them online.
