I can only recall one other time I have tasted a food and thought to myself, «I have to learn to make that, or I will someday die unhappy». The first time was after trying the Peppadew poppers at Tap and Growler in Eugene. While it took some practice, those poppers are now my most popular dinner party treat. It’s time for a new endeavor. I must learn how to make the Cheddar Jalapeño Bacon Muffins at Gently Fold Bakery. Here’s a little background… It was hot as heck outside in Ridgefield. We were visiting friends who live in the area, and decided to look for a quick snack spot. With 4 adults and 3 kids in tow, we were actually looking for a more sit down restaurant, hopefully one with air conditioning. Our friends who live in Ridgefield recalled hearing good things about Gently Fold Bakery, so we decided to try it out. It’s cute from the outside, with a wooden front porch and an artisan look. It is evident that quite a bit of thought went into this establishment. The location is small, but the porch offers seating with a fun view of downtown Ridgefield. Inside, however, everything changes and we go from cute to freakin awesome. My wife and daughter each had the grilled cheese sandwich. You know that grilled cheese that comes out absolutely perfect, with just the right amount of cheese and golden crust? It’s here. Every time. Our friends also ordered a handful of grilled cheese sandwiches and they were all cooked to perfection. They offer some unique«Portlandy» sandwiches, but I don’t recall the exact ingredients. I do remember that they looked really good, though. After ordering their sandwiches, I debated my choice. With guidance from Jake, the owner, I elected to go for the large muffin on display in front of me. This was not just any muffin, it was the Cheddar Jalapeño bacon muffin. The muffin of the food God’s. A majestic creation. This golden treat was extremely filling, moist, and loaded with flavor. I have never had a muffin like it… so I ate two of them(and half of my 3 year old’s grilled cheese). Jake and his wife, Brooke, were both friendly and fun to converse with. These are the type of people who you want to see thrive with their business, and I suspect that Gently Fold Bakery will capture the liking of many locals and out of town visitors. I know for sure I will be back for more, and I can’t wait to waddle out with the fullest and happiest of stomachs. Until then, I will be trying my hardest to recreate the best muffin I have ever had in my entire life.

Stopped in on a recommendation from a friend. He touted their biscuits and gravy as being excellent. At first when we got there I was a bit put off as the part where you sit down to eat was closed and only the side where you order the food was open, but decided to order some stuff anyways and just take it back home to eat as the only seating they had was outside which was a bit too cold. I ordered the Vanilla Stout Chili and a Four Cheese Sandwich with Tuna and a Bacon, Jalapeño and Cheddar Muffin.. My wife ordered the same sandwich with the Dublin Coddle Soup and a Walnut and Cranberry Scone. The Chili, Soup, Scone and Muffin were all very tasty. The sandwich was mediocre at best. They do not have much of a selection of sandwiches and the only other ones were with peanut butter, cheese and pickle which was a bit outside of my comfort zone to order. I think thier baked goods are great, and the soups are pretty good. I want to try some of the other items they have like the biscuits and gravy as well as the quiche, but not likely to order a sandwich here again unless they put something more on the menu. I would recommend the place, but would caution that they have a very limited selection and not guaranteed to have a place to sit. I will go back again and try more.

I bought a cinnamon roll this morning and it was excellent! I also bought a blueberry muffin which was also very good. This business«cohabits» with another business called«Buckets» which makes soups and other lunch type items.
