Dippers is awesome! The ice cream, atmosphere and service is great! It’s just what Martinsville needed. I live out of town and it’s a highlight of my visits to stop by Dippers on each trip into town!

This is s small place that shares a parking lot with Tractor Supply in Ridgeway. You order at the window and pay, they prepare your cone, sundae, or shake, and then you can sit under the shade cover at one of several tables. The sitting area/tables have always been clean every time we’ve gone and sometimes it is full and we sit in our car. They have a small cornhole area in the back where kids routinely throw the bags over the fence. (Cornhole is a local pastime that non-locals may not know. It involves throwing what looks like a small bean bag through holes in a wooden backstop.) Dippers won a state-wide award in 2013? 2014? for their Peanut Butter Bang sundae but the best thing they offer, imo, are the seasonal fruit treats (e.g. apple dumpling a la mode).

One of the few very popular places in MHC (even at 8:30 p.m., 30 minutes before closing time), and there’s a good reason why: delicious homemade ice cream. Dippers has an ever-changing ice cream menu, but I don’t think it matters what flavor you choose because it’ll be delicious no matter what. I had the birthday cake ice cream, and out of all the birthday cake ice creams I’ve tried, this has got to be the best. Why? Because Dippers’ cake flavor doesn’t taste artificial and includes actual cake chunks. The pecan pie ice cream also had actual titular ingredients and was infused with delicious caramel!
Tip: If you want to try the weekly flavors, come early or else they’ll be gone.

My husband and I tried this place out a couple of weeks ago; we will definitely be back again. The brownie sundae I got was absolutely delicious! The staff was very pleasant and this place was very well taken care of and clean.
