History

Established in 1840.

We are a sixth-​generation family business. Our family started the very first store in Historic Ridgeway, a general store. Back then, they sold everything from sewing needles, tonics, fertilizer, buggies, and furniture. The old saying goes, «If Ruffs didn’t have it, you didn’t need it.» We evolved into separate hardware and furniture stores today. Since we know a bit about longevity, we specialize in furniture that’s built to stand the test of time. Small-​town service and friendliness are two traditions we’ve continued to hold to also.

My dream has always been to work in my family’s business. I started going to the NC Furniture Market as teenager, learning alongside my dad the ins and outs of furniture. I guess you could say I have furniture in my blood. I love the interaction I’m able to have with my customers — learning about their needs and helping them find the best solutions.
