The staff is rude, the boss is rude, they’re all over the place and very unprofessional. The staff seems miserable and maybe that’s why they’re so rude. The owner curses in front of clients and freaks out when they question extra prices. It’s an extremely tense environment and not somewhere you want to go if you enjoy a relaxing experience at the salon.
I would never recommend this salon to any of my friends.

I bought the Groupon and had no problem using it on a Saturday morning. The salon was quite busy, but seemed to be running pretty efficiently. My stylist, Gillian, had an enormous list of appointments that day, which she handled gracefully. I showed her a couple photos of what I wanted with my next haircut, and she delivered (quickly – I was there about 40 minutes!) She suggested getting highlights and offered a coupon for my next visit. I have never gotten highlights and don’t think they would look good on me, but hey, you can’t blame a girl for trying to generate more business. ;)

What a wonderful experience! Let me start out by saying that I am a hairstylist myself and I was completely blown away by my hair when I walked out of the salon. Being that I have been a hairstylist for 7 years, I have had every hair color, style, and cut that you can imagine. They were all good but nothing compares to the gorgeous work Brianna did on my hair. She was on-​time (15 minutes early actually) to take me and was so great to talk to during my whole service. I came to her with dark, drab hair that I hadn’t colored in about a year due to lack of inspiration and motivation and also my hair was previously pink underneath all the dark color and I was afraid to do anything to it. Brianna balayaged my dark hair so meticulously that I walked out looking exactly like the inspiration picture that I showed her. I was literally shocked that my previously damaged hair looked as perfect as it did when I left. I was expecting to visit her a few times to get the results I wanted but she nailed it the first time! The salon itself was extremely welcoming and felt just like home for me. I enjoyed relaxing throughout my whole time at the salon, which I haven’t been able to do since I became a hairstylist myself. And to top it all off… the pricing is so reasonable! I can’t wait for my next visit. Thank you Brianna for making me love my hair again and for giving me an experience as a client.

I LOVE KAREN! I started going to Karen in November of 2014 after my hair was damaged pretty badly elsewhere. She was fantastic! She made me feel so comfortable and was very reassuring during a time when I thought my hair was at the point of no return. I’ve never had a go-​to hair stylist but I’ve been going to Karen consistently since I was first introduced to her!
*The only reason I’m giving 5 stars instead of 4 is because like most other reviews have said, the reception staff seems to always act as if you’re an inconvenience to them and are very rude. One time I walked in and she didn’t even greet me just asked me to pay ahead in case I took too long and they wanted to close the register (I get a trim, it doesn’t take more than 20 minutes and it was no where near the closing time). Also, I find that every time I go I always get the same service done yet the price is a little different every time.*
Just being honest –because I love Karen enough to make me stay!

Karen P. Is the best! This place is clean friendly and organized. From the receptionist Laurie to the owner lisa t, this salon is fabulous. Ask for Karen and you will not be disappointed!
Convenient parking location and skills make this a worthy find. Thank you for all your work!

Just called to get a blow out for Christmas and was told they can’t take my groupon but surely if I pay full price then they will. What horrible business. After I’m done with my other 2 out of 3 blow outs I will never give this place business again.

Not sure how the owner can say that everyone loves the salon and the treatment they give the public. Donna N posted on 6/​10, Purissa S posted on ⁵⁄₁₂ and Sandi S posted on ⁵⁄₂ — not very flattering comments, and my experience was very similar to theirs.
I have been going to salons (both nail and hair) for years, and never have had a problem. Coming to Lisa Thomas, I never got an apology when I sat and waited a half hour for someone who was late,(numerous times) never got an apology when my stylist was fired and I was not notified when I was coming in there the next day to get styled for my daughter’s wedding. When people write negative feedback, the owner spends hours scripting lengthy responses (inaccurate) to refute the experience customers have who SPEND money at the salon! If you don’t want to deal with «nasty Groupon clients» as you refer to in your lengthy response to Purissa S, then don’t join Groupon.
Maybe spend some time working on customer relations and less time bashing people who give their opinion about your salon.
This site is supposed to be for clients to share their experiences. If you have so many negative comments to respond to, maybe there is a reason for that!!!

Brianna did my hair on Saturday. She did a cut and a full head of highlights. Not only was she a total pleasure to chat with, she did an awesome job on my hair. She gave me exactly what I wanted and I just love love love how my hair came out! I’ll definitely return to her and do believe I have found my new ‘go to’ hairdresser!!! Thank you Brianna!

Horrible place I purchased a groupon for the first time never was at that salon before made an appt got there 25 min early waited and then was told by the receptionist that I couldn’t use the groupon she had me in the computer with my number (well of course she did I gave it to her when I made the appt) she stated I used one in March I was not even here in March I reside 7 months in Florida she called the rude nasty owner as stated here on Unilocal who wouldn’t let me use it I then contacted groupon told them what she did and they refunded me ASAP and are removing them from groupon I also contacted the consumer affairs and bbb on them as everyone who has an issue should
DONT WASTE YOUR TIME GOING THERE OR DONT BUY THE GROUPON FROM THEM AS THEY WONT HONER IT

Absolutely fantastic salon. I drive an hour from home to go here. The salon is modern, clean and comfortable and everyone is so nice. Parking is not an issue as they are in a strip mall and have a huge parking lot which is rare in Ridgewood. Their blow out pkg is such a great deal. I recently had Gillian as my stylist for an olaplex treatment and blowout. She was amazing and sweet and my hair was super soft and looked great. I couldn’t believe how well that treatment worked especially on my color treated, very thick coarse hair. I would highly recommend this salon and Gillian.

Bought a groupon voucher to check this place out. Totally inconvenienced by their rigid rule that only a certain person can do groupons. We showed up and they told us that they can’t accommodate coz that person was out sick. And we got the blame by telling us that we did not check phone messages. We did not see it coming. We end up paying regular price and more inconvenience by only accepting cash. Agggh!

I had an awful experience with the owner of this salon. She was rude and unkind, and downright mean. I can’t imagine speaking to anyone the way she spoke to me, let alone speaking to a client with such thorough disregard and lack of professionalism. And the strangest part of it all was that she did all this before I even had a chance to speak. I bought a Groupon for a kids’ haircut. After the stylist finished cutting my daughter’s hair, she informed us that this Groupon did not include blowdrying. I went to check at the front desk and had a lovely conversation with the receptionist, where we checked the Groupon and there was no mention of a blow-​dry not being included. Terrific. She just wanted to check with the owner. Absolutely understandable, and I waited at the front desk. When the owner arrived she said in a forceful tone (boy wish I had known from that what was coming!), that the Groupon says hairCUT. It doesn’t say haircut and style. I said POLITELY, «Well, that’s kind of odd because…» and then she cut me off with the first of her rude statements. When I said POLITELY, «I’m not sure why you’re treating me so meanly. I was just asking a question. I haven’t been rude or angry.» She snapped, «You ARE rude because I answered your question, and you didn’t like the answer, so you won’t just accept it.» Me looking at the other clients like, «What’s happening?» and the owner berating me went on for another minute or two, until she said I could pay for a blow-​dry if I wanted one. I started to say, «I will not be paying for a blowout and we will not be…“to which she interrupted me with, AND I QUOTE, «Not coming back? Good. Leave. Bye bye.» And waved at me and pointed to the door. I’m not making this up! Again, I can’t state enough that I BARELY could get a word in because she was just all over me! She wasn’t pushing back against my statements or anything. .. it was more like my very existence and that I had even inquired at all had infuriated her.
This was a weird, terrible, upsetting, and humiliating experience. I truly hope that readers of this review heed my advice and seek out another salon. There are positively hundreds in Bergen County, and there is no need to accept unprofessional and unkind treatment in order to find a good haircut.

I must say I was INCREDIBLY hesitant to try this place given all the negative reviews. I purchased a Groupon here and thought to take a chance and give it a try in any case, and I’m glad I did.
Service: I dealt with Karen P and could not have been happier with how my hair came out! She not only listened to what I wanted for my first time getting full highlights but «felt» what I could handle and walked me through each process as she did it. I thought this was very important to me. Of note, I noticed some of the comments were about the owner — I should mention: I thought she was the receptionist and she was SUPER polite throughout the entire visit. I had no idea it was the owner until the end of my visit and was surprised she was still there past hours, showing how much she cared for her business.
Cleanliness: I noticed that the place was quite clean: ALL the tools used were in barbicide and there was no chunks of hair lying around that wasn’t swept up in a timely manner (it’s a hair salon, there will be hair on the floor, and it does get swept up between clients/​washes).
The only thing I was upset about was having some hair dye on the bottom of my sweater. I’ll be spraying it with some hair spray tonight and taking it to the cleaners, but this was my fault as I was asked to sit still during certain times and fidgeted throughout the ENTIRE process.
All in all, everyone was accommodating as I had arrived 15 minutes late and my hair took an unexpectedly longer time to blow dry and they had to stay late, past closing hours. It was worth the wait as I have not had my hair blown out by a professional in nearly 5 years since they tend to leave the root curly (think type 4A/​B hair). She did not use the «excuse» that my hair was «too curly» to leave the roots curly, and actually took the time to straighten it, which I really appreciated.

I bought a groupon for this place after a botched haircut at a different salon. After reading the negative comments, I was a little nervous but I’ve been looking for a salon I like for about a year now so I figured I’d give it a shot. Firstly, the girl at the reception desk could not have been nicer, pointed me towards the closet and offered me a refreshment. The salon itself is really nice. Clean and very big and airy. Stephanie washed me and cut my hair. I explained exactly what I wanted and that I had gotten a terrible cut and basically begged her for help. She totally fixed my hair and was easy to talk to. All around, I had a very good experience. Also, parking is so easy and free, which is awesome for Ridgewood– total plus. I will definitely be going back for another cut with Stephanie.

Bought a groupon, made the appointment and was very happy with the color cut and style. Tina did a great job. I will be using her as my stylist from now on.

I have never had a bad experience at this salon. Been coming here since it was Great Expectations.
I have very long hair and got a full head of highlights today and a cut. I was the first appointment of the day and did not have to wait to get started.
Christina did my hair and was really great. She chatted with me the whole time and really listened to what I wanted done to my hair. I will definitely have her do my hair again!
The salon is kept extremely clean and everyone, including the receptionist, is very kind. I was offered coffee or tea, and I never felt like she was rushing to get me out of there. She really took her time with my hair and made me feel like all of her attention was on me.
I’m beyond pleased with how my hair came out!

Came here today with a Groupon I purchased. I was weary to come after I read the Unilocal reviews, but since I already spent my money I made an appointment.
I had my hair cut, colored, and blown out by Stephanie. It looks amazing, She did a really nice job! She took her time and explained everything to me.
The Salon was very nice clean & calm, and I was asked more than once if I needed anything.
There are some very mean comments on here, I wouldn’t base my opinion on them since I had a clearly very different good experience. I suggest coming in for yourself and then share your experience. I took off 1 star because I wanted to purchase a styling product for my hair but there was a $ 25.00 minimum to use your credit card, I bought two items to get over the $ 25.00 limit wish there was no minimum it would make make life easier and my credit card happier.

Went here once where the owner colored my hair. I wanted my blonde roots gone. I still had visible roots when she was done. She was intent on selling me things and asking what part of of own I was from. Rude. Second time I went here with a groupon which they didn’t accept due to lame fine print rules. Got haircut. Very good haircut, not from the owner. Hence. I have mixed feelings about this place due to two very different experiences, but I did like my haircut, although there was one tiny piece that was too long.

I’m going to preface all this by saying that I LOVED my hair. I came in with brassy blonde, and was desperate for some hair rehab… Tina was great, sweet, and gave me exactly what I asked for. I will be back… to see her!
My only complaint (and it’s not a deal breaker) was the ambiance isn’t that of a modern salon, and the lighting is fluorescent… so my hair actually looked better in natural lighting than it did at the salon! So minor, but worth mentioning. Don’t let the less-​than-​trendy ambiance put you off this place… I had an amazing experience. The staff was friendly, the receptionist was welcoming, and I will be referring my girlfriends here.
Definitely worth a visit.

The salon itself is really nice located in a strip mall. I bought a groupon here for a haircut and conditioning treatment. It was super easy to make a reservation on NYE. When I got there, I was quickly taken. I was in and out in about 35 minutes. That was wonderful. All I was getting was a simple haircut– I had Corey and she was friendly and did a nice job.
