I definitely don’t know what the allure is with this park and bike path. It’s in the middle of VERY busy Bergen County, NJ — so while you’re biking along the loop, all you hear is traffic noises coming from the surrounding roads and highways. And the duck pond is small, sad looking, and covered with green slime. It’s actually a pretty boring, asphalt 6+ mile loop — with not a lot too look at. Just your typical, bland greenway. I guess it’s okay if you’re a local, but we put our bikes on the back of the car and made the 12 mile schlepp from Montclair. Definitely not worth the trip. Much more fun to just ride around Montclair.

Look it is called wild duck pond so why are there so many geese and the geese poo that accompanies them? Same problem all through the Saddle River park system. Would be a 4 maybe 5 star if they would address the geese issue

I come here on a lazy sunday afternoon or weekday evening… always nice in the spring/summer/fall…winter gets a little dead looking. Nice for stroll or jog(esp the trail that leads TO the duck pond). I have ran a 5k here at 6am and its stll pretty busy with bikers and runners on the trail but the woods are SO beautiful with the exception of occasional road view, it feels nicely secluded and natural.

This used to be THE park back in the day, seems as though Dunkerhook has taken that title over. Currently they are doing construction so it doesn’t look as nice as it usually does, and one parking lot is closed. The pond is pretty nasty this year partly because of the heat, the drought, and the lack of oxygenation the pond gets. It has a dog park, I don’t have a dog, but it seems as though a lot of people and dogs like it. It’s a good fishing spot for fishers, but note that a permit is required for it with a trout stamp since it’s trout stocked.

Wild Duck Pond Area Small Pond With Lot’s Of Shade This is my least favorite of the parks that the Saddle River County Park system has to offer in Fair Lawn, Glen Rock, Paramus, Ridgewood, Rochelle Park and Saddle Brook. Not much to see or do here and not a lot of grass. This is the northern most location in the Saddle River County Park System.
