History

Established in 1958.

Gagliardo Realty pioneered the real estate industry in the western suburbs. The company was established in 1958 by Josephine Gagliardo and her son, Joseph. Josephine and Joseph were smart business people who were well liked by their employees and respected by their competitors. They steadily grew the business, establishing sales benchmarks and repeatedly surpassing their own sales records. The Gagliardo name is synonymous with professionalism, fairness, community leadership, and financial success.

Andy is a graduate of St. Giles Grammar School in Oak Park and Fenwick High School in Oak Park. He attended Marquette University and earned a BS in Business with a specialization in real estate. Andy has been an active real estate agent since 1984.

The broker that we used from Gagliardo, Kurt Fiedler, was fantastic! My husband I searched Oak Park high and low for the perfect house and Kurt was patient and helpful the entire way through the process. He helped us get to know the area and, after several months of searching, found us the perfect home. If you are looking for a trustworthy broker who has a great depth of knowledge about the Oak Park area, Kurt is a great person to work with.

We recently dealt with Gagliardo Realty as they represented the seller of a house we were interested in purchasing. We put an offer in and they countered. We asked for the weekend to think it over, and they agreed. First thing Monday morning, we exactly matched their offer. We assumed the home was ours. To our dismay, this was not the case. We learned that someone else had put an offer in and the seller had decided to go with that offer. It also happened that Gagliardo represented the other buyer.
After we learned what had happened, I asked twice to speak to the agent from Gagliardo to understand their role in this transaction. Did they advise their client to stand by their word and accept our offer? Did they feel that this is just the way things are done in real estate? I never received a response.
Some may consider this to be an ethical approach to doing business. Some may say that it’s the sellers call. People are entitled to those opinions. I, however, would rather live in a world where people stand by their word. Where people try to do the right thing. I don’t feel that the folks at Gagliardo Realty feel the same way I do.
At least the story has a happy ending. The other buyer backed out and we purchased the home. I only hope this post helps others avoid the same situation we were put in, by avoiding Gagliardo Realty.

Another update on Kurt Fiedler! Since we have lived in our house, he has found buyers for three of the houses on my block! One of them is a next door neighbor. Consider using Kurt because he seems to get the job done!
