This place is ok. Not bad, but not great. Looks like it’s been around for a long time, and the staff are friendly, but I could make a better sandwich at home with ingredients from Albertson’s. I don’t plan to return, but wouldn’t avoid it if I were particularly hungry.

Seriously, they ran out of bread?!? It’s a sandwich shop! So, I can’t place a order for four sandwiches…

Don’t waste your time or money! You can see what I mean by the picture I am going to post. I asked them to cut the sandwich into four pieces. Apparently you have to put the inner’s from three prices just to make one decent sandwich. Go to the one on university, you’ll be glad you did.

Came in to get an Italian style sub. There was not much meat on the sandwich! Also, asked for deli mustard. I discovered that they put yellow mustard on it. Took it back and they said that they didn’t have deli mustard(even though I specifically asked for it, and the cashier didn’t state that they only had yellow mustard). Mostly bread sandwich was not worth it. Last time I’m going here.

Basically you get a bunch of bread. They use one slice of meat on the bottom and one slice of meat on top. When I asked about it she informed me that is how they make their half sandwiches. Not worth going to when you can get a better sandwich almost everywhere else. When I told the manager Eric that this was what I was going to post for the review he said ok whatever

I have been to the van buren store twice now. The first time i was not pleased with my sandwich. Today my wife went and bought 2 sandwichs turkey with avocado.. I started to eat it and could taste bread and lettuce and looked inside and found a single slice of turkey. My wife call and talk to the manager Eric about the lack of meat in the sandwich. He said thats how they are sold and made no effort to make us satisfied with our $ 18 purchase. I will not ever return to this place and recommend you save your money.

This Riverside local grinder staple has been around for decades. The original location on University was the one my parents drove across town for, and this one is an extension of that. Ambiance/Interior: This is just a little whole-in-the-wall sub shop. Plain interior with a few tables inside and a couple outside. Service: Friendly staff. My sandwich orders always come out pretty fast. Food: The style of sandwich is a bit different from your average sub/grinder. The bread is freshly made and has a very crunchy outer crust with soft inside. It is not for everyone, but if you have never had it, give it a try. Some people love the crunch, others would rather have soft bread. Definitely better than the bread at Subway. People who love D’Elias, usually love the bread. The sandwiches have your typical deli ingredients, but are not loaded with these ingredients because as they say, «it’s about the bread.» You will likely love it or hate it. They have salads and other items too. I like the antipasto salad. Cost: Average sub prices. Overall, my parents are thrilled that this is here, because they love it. Me, it’s okay. It’s a sandwich when I am hungry and in a rush, and since I live a block away, it works.

Not sure why it takes 25 minutes to do two half sandwiches but that’s how long it took here at 2pm on a weekday. They were cold sandwiches too. There’s no way I would eat here during lunch. Quality is similar to other location. To be honest I think I’ll stick with Jersey Mikes

If I could give a establishment 0 stars I would. If you want a D’elia’s grinder go to the original location. I waited an hour for four sandwiches. The time before that I waited 35 minutes for 2 sandwiches. I will never go back.

It’s been a while since I’ve been back here due to not being impressed the last time. This time, ordered a 2 meat sandwich, hoping for more meat, but got even LESS! Literally, one slice of turkey and one slice of ham! Ridiculous! I feel robbed of my money. I will NOT be giving them a 3rd chance.

Excellent sandwiches. They remind me of the grinders I used to get as a kid. Great crusty bread, yummy olive oil, tasty meats, shredded lettuce. A perfect deli sandwich.

Decent, cheap, and big sandwiches. Veggie grinder totally bland without avocado and salt. Not the highest quality but will do when you are hungry. Just don’t expect anything healthy, for sure, on the cheap white flour tasteless bread. Also, they pour oil all over the sandwich unless you say something. Only for hunger emergencies…

Not the best grinders. I ordered the turkey sub, and at first thought they forgot to put any turkey in it. I could only see the cheese slice, and I think there was one thin slice of turkey stuck to the cheese. The bread is very dense and difficult to bite through, I felt like I was working at every bite like beef jerky, tearing off chunks with my teeth rather than taking normal bites /: my husband and I both commented that we only tasted bread and a hint of mustard.

When I need a sandwich in my life, D’elia’s grinders is where I go. I used to have to drive all the way to university for it but now thankfully it’s here. I see a lot of people bashing this place, but I think they have it all wrong. D’elia’s has been in riverside longer than most of the people reading this review, and for good reason. The flaky bread is a staple. The meat is of quality, not quantity. And the sandwiches consistently deliver what I expect. I am aware that their style isn’t for everyone, but drop in and see for yourself. You might not be too disappointed. Tips: try the roast beef with anything, or just the roast beef. Don’t be afraid to throw some crushed red pepper on there.

I ordered a ham and turkey to go got home to eat it and couldn’t believe they would only put 1 paper thin slice of each meat, with how big the bread is and the amount of lettuce they put on it you’d expect at least a descent amount of meat to even it out but that wasn’t the case and the price doesn’t add up, all I can say is profit must be more important then a quality sandwich shop product. I’d not return based on my first try and think they should really reconsider the amount of meat they allow.

Delicious! I loooove the bread, but it can be very polarizing… it’s sort of a love it or hate thing. The bread is fresh, but really crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Be prepared to get crumbs everywhere! Don’t worry it will be worth it! Turkey, Cheese, Philly D’Fuego, Tuna Salad… They’re all great sandwiches. Don’t forget the packets of crushed red pepper! I’ve also had there cheeseburger and fries which are just okay.

If you have a negative comment about the flaky bread or lack of meat, then you don’t UNDERSTAND D’Elia’s! There is a reason their slogan says, «It’s the bread.» Because it is, and it’s amazing. I’ve been going to the University location since I was a kid and no matter where I’ve lived, when I come to visit, I make it a point to go there. This is not a place for meat stacking, although you can ask and pay for extra, what sells these babies is the bread. I get turkey and pepperoni. That with the provolone, shredded lettuce, I add crushed red pepper and regular pepper, extra olive oli, and even top with some pepperoncini juice. That makes for one tasty sandwich. D’Elias is not for everyone. It’s not your regular sandwich. But to those who have been coming for years, we know we don’t want regular. Don’t come in expecting a Jersey Mikes, Subway, or a bunch of mayo and mustard to cover everything. You don’t need that with these. This is an original place and best for those who can appreciate the bread.

With all the competition out there for sandwiches, you would think that would be enough to go to any sub/grinder place and get quality. My experience here was just okay. The service was good, and the guy explained everything in detail but I got my turkey cold grinder and salad, and the salads are pre made me the sandwich was sloppily made and by of quality. I didn’t check to see if there were other bread option, but the bread I got was hard and crumbling, the turkey was slimey and there was barley any meat. Not impressed but has potential, if the owner just got quality bread and meat, you would do just fine.

Our first time in and we were not impressed. We both got cold grinders. They were very light on the meat and sandwiches were very sloppily made. We were also disappointed with the service. They were very busy and we heard so many great things about them we decided to give them another try at a later date. Visit number 2 not any better than the first. This time we got hot subs but it made no difference. The bread is good but that is all there is, bread. The sandwiches are way over priced for what you get. And although this second time in, they were not so busy the service was actually worse. Seems they hire young girls with little to no work ethic. We will not try to find out if the third time is a charm. No thank you.

Yay grinder sandwiches! This is their second location. The original is on University and has been around for years. They make everything to order so it’s super fresh and tasty! This place is so much better than Jersey Mike’s. Try the roast beef or combination!
