Greenwich Music

Our digital drum set — that we purchased from Greenwich Music — collapsed over time and use into a pile of parts and cables on the floor. I emailed a photo of the mess to Greenwich Music and they promptly got back to me and made a house call to repair the situation! Awesome! We’re drumming again and we appreciate the customer service house call!!! Thank you Joe!

I’ve purchased guitars from Greenwich Music, they’ve set-​up guitars for me, and I take lessons regularly! They’re an outstanding Taylor Guitar dealer and I find that they bring the advantages of the big box stores to their clients at the local level, with a personal touch and a friendly helpful attitude.

Generally speaking, you have to think differently about small, local specialty stores than you do big box chains. The selection is gonna be smaller and geared to whatever local market they have at hand. The service will depend on who’s in the store that day. Prices will be higher, though if you are honest with yourself, you will rarely notice the difference. The point is, they’re there, and when you need something you can get it immediately without driving forever.
Greenwich Music is actually a really nice local resource to have around. I have bought instruments there, and have gotten fair prices on high quality stuff, but my taste is mostly more high-​end than they tend to carry. I’ve learned a lot about the improving quality of foreign made guitars, though, from grabbing off the racks! The selection of accessories is just fine. If they don’t have something you want, they’ll order it for you. It’ll cost the same and come as quickly as Guitar Center, and you’ll have the satisfaction of helping a local businessman make it in a tough world.
As for lessons: my son took guitar lessons there for about three years. One of the teachers was outstanding, one was okay, and one was not my favorite. But that’s how it goes… these guys move on, get other jobs, whatever. Joe (the proprietor) was always good about letting us switch, schedule permitting.
We’ve rented band instruments there for my two sons over the years, and ended up buying a really nice used trumpet for a very fair price. At least I think so. What do I know about band instruments?
Repairs: Joe is really honest — they can do setups and restrings, and for me they have installed a couple of acoustic guitar pickups. All fine work. For major repairs and reconstructions, you’ll have to go elsewhere. Joe can give you referrals.
I’m definitely a fan, and am glad to have Greenwich Music in the community.

They have good instruments but customer service is not up to par. Staff is not friendly. They sold me violin books for viola rentals and were not willing to take them back.
