Grove Dental Group and Orthodontics

I strongly advise you «DO NOT GO THERE». The team of dentists that work in this office «Grove Dental Group» are without a doubt the biggest CROOKS.
They don’t give anything to their customers and all they care about is over charging the customers without providing minimal service.

I must concur that when dealing with your insurance and what they charge you here be very careful!
I will start by saying that the dentists themselves are good. I haven’t had a problem while dealing with them. I have my cleanings done here as well as my kids. What you have to watch out for here is the billing representatives.
Me and my wife have separate dental coverages with our job. It is helpful to be dual covered in the event that one of your dental plans do not cover everything.
At Grove Dental what they like to do is bill both insurances. Even if one of your plans will cover the procedure. This may also cause you to have to may more because you are then paying a co pay or a fee for both plans.
They will also bill your insurance for a procedure you may not have had done.
Another practice they use, they will give your insurance company an over estimate of the cost of the work you have had done or will have done and keep the overage as a credit that strangely they don’t give to you. Then of course will add a charge to absorb the credit. Or they will change the charge to absorb the credit.
While they are over charging your insurance company they will tell you that the amount that the insurance company will cover is lower. By doing this they will have you pay out of pocket for things that your insurance will cover. Again causing a credit that you won’t get.
They will even tell you that something isn’t, covered have you pay, and then bill your insurance.
And don’t get me started on the whole crown issue here. They make their own crowns, so be careful if you come here and they see an issue that can only be fixed with a crown. More then likely there are other less abrasive and cheaper solutions. And even more likely you don’t need a crown at all and there is nothing wrong with your tooth.
We discovered a lot of there shady practices after reading the reviews (something I didn’t do at first because I was referred here by their other office in Fontana after I moved).
We went to the front desk and asked for a break down of billing since we started coming here. You would think that if you are doing a lot of the shady things they are doing it wouldn’t show up on the billing statement, but nope it was all there. The over estimates. The over charging. The credits and then new charges to absorb the credits or changing the charges to absorb the credits.
My wife called them out right away and said that it looks like what you are doing is illegal. The lady at the reception desk said that the way they do there billing is legal and other places do the same thing.
They did make a few changes to give us credit. We also asked them if during that visit will one of our dental plans cover it and they said yes. Of course we then asked why were they billing both and they pretended like it never dawned on them to only bill one insurance.
Well, if all dental offices follow this practice for now on I will look at the billing statements from dentist offices more closely. I will also now call my own dental plan to find out if they cover a procedure and by how much.
We only come here for cleanings now. And the only reason we do is because they are open on Saturdays. (Easy for us since me and the wife both work and we don’t have to pull the kids out of school) I am actively looking for another dentist office that does Saturdays. But man I am seeing a lot of poor reviews in the area.
If you don’t need Saturdays then I would recommend you stay away. Or at least follow the way they are billing you very closely.

I am truly disappointed with the quality of work this office provides. I was a patient in 2012 and am now writing this review because their work has come to haunt me! I was given a list of work that «needed dire attention» The staff was kind and I took what they had to say very serious and took it for face value. I ended up getting porcelain crowns that have fallen off while simply flossing. That’s just ridiculous! I seeked another dentist for professional information and to fix the problem. He informed me that the work i had received was of «poor quality». Not to mention I also had my wisdom teeth pulled & it was the absolute worst experience of my life. Gauze was stuffed deep into the openings and forgotten about. If it wasn’t for my husband who insisted the pain I was experiencing wasn’t normal I would have ended up with a terrible infection if not worse. I can continue to express my dislike for this place, but I think my point has been made. If you choose to get treatment here, just know its at your own risk.

Shady office. The doctor that I worked with was nice but his staff was awful. I caught them in several lies. They also charged my insurance for work they hadn’t even started doing yet. Over priced. Will never go back.

They knowingly attempted to charge me for services covered by my insurance… had I not called my insurance carrier to verify my covered benefits I would’ve paid. And there’s no doubt they would’ve also billed my insurance. Beware and question your diagnosis and treatment codes.

I was very impressed by this dental office … Making the appointment was quick and friendly and they have Saturday appt… My daughter and I had a great dental experience and she doesn’t even like the dentist.

RIP OFF ARTIST’S! Went in with a cracked bridge & Dr. Chu said it was fine but that I needed a bunch of other work to the tune of $ 4000.00 (after using my $ 1500.00 dental insurance coverage!). Made an appointment to return in 2 weeks & the bridge broke the next day. Going to Mission Grove Dental instead.

I can’t tell you how many times they have tried to ‘upgrade’ my husband and I to things that were not covered under insurance. The work they did had to be redone twice and it’s still not right. Then they try to tell you it’s not their fault when they were the ones who did the work. Jackie the hygienist is the best person in that office. But we ultimately had to switch to another dentist. All of the things they said needed to be taken care of right away somehow magically disappeared when we changed to another dental office.

Office was accommodating and Dr Chu and Jamie (hygienist) were great. My only issue is that the fees are steep…575 for a mouth guard… really.
Aside from fees, the treatment I received was great.

I had a great experience here. Everything went so well that I have switched 6 of my family members to this office to specifically see Dr. Chu. I had a horrible toothache that I was dealing with off and on for 3 months. I chose this dental office because it was close to my house and I was unhappy with my previous dentist. The Grove Dental was able to get me in same day to see Dr. Chu. He immediately drained my tooth and I was set up for a root canal with in 4 days with a specialist. I was not in anymore pain until the week of the root canal. I had normal pain from healing and took only tylenol for pain during the recovery time. I appreciate that Dr Chu and Dr. Kim both took the time to listen to my concerns and made me feel comfortable by explaining procedures. They came up with great solutions for my troubled tooth and I feel that I was well informed, cared for and properly treated. The staff is also great from the office staff to the medical assistants. I felt that the cost was reasonable (I have a DHMO). I like that this is a multi-​specialty group where you can see every type of specialist for all your dental needs. I trust this facility to preform dental work on me and I also feel they are fair priced for someone with a DHMO.

WARNING! BEWARE! THEY ARE CROOKS! I received a print out of the financial arrangement and after my insurance company paid, I compared the estimated fee with what was actually paid, I noticed a significant difference: the bottom line was, they owed me money. I have a refund coming to me and I have been waiting since April — I can’t seem to get anyone in that office to follow through. I think they intentionally underestimate what the insurance company is going to pay (and I use a well-​know, large insurance provider) — then the customer over pays. After the insurance company settles up the claim, if the customer isn’t savvy and demands a credit/​refund, Grove Dental Group pockets the extra money… bonus for them! As NF state, «This place is a thievery racket!» Word to the wise — check your financial agreements to your insurance statements very carefully!

Started going here about 7 yrs ago. Its steadily changed. Stuff that was supposedly an emergency must not have been because it took a month and several calls to find out treatment. Then last week they hid behind the language of the orthodontic contract, rather than honoring what they admitted to saying. I think management/​ownership changed a few years ago and that was catalyst. They do have star employees but management casts a huge shadow.

I went in for a cleaning and exam. I girl that is the cleaning kept leaning over to see, but here hair as not tided up and it was very close to going in my mouth, if it did I would have ended the cleaning right then, but this is not very professional.
The dentist said she seen a shadow on one of my tooth and it was very likely an infection and I would need a root cannel consult, funny my previous dentist seen the same thing over a year ago and said it was ok.
Then the sales person came in to sell me a very expensive crown that was not covered with my HMO insurance. This place is a selling mill, selling treatments that are not needed and over priced.
HMO insurance companies need to get creditable dentist on their provider list. Iam still looking for a good dentist in Riverside who takes HMO insurance.

Grove Dental Group. Is one of the best places in Riverside to hit when you want your teeth to get done. They are the best at their jobs and they find the problem right away and start working on your teeth. Depending on what the problem is with your teeth. It will hurt when you get done, but after it will stop hurting and you will feel amazing. The staffs and works are really nice and funny. Especially Mike. He’s the best. I enjoy talking to him.

If I could give them a 0 I would. I was so annoyed w/​this place. First, I made an appt for my husband & I both, when confirming, they only had one appt, not two. They quoted us triple what another dentist was going to charge me for 1 procedure; said we needed triple the work; and when we got new insurance, they wouldnt even accomodate us w/​a new quote, after I asked for it twice. I think they have way too many people working in there & cant get anything done right. Just cuz it looks like nice, doesnt make it any better than the trusted old dentist you’ve been using for years.

Dr. Aldaz (one of the dentists) does decent work. That is about the only positive thing I have to say about the Grove Dental Group. I went in to have some cavities filled and get my teeth whitened. I agreed to about $ 1000 of work since the «salesperson» agreed to throw in the teeth whitening for $ 100.
FYI… It is not the dentist making the price/​financial arrangements… but a «salesperson» that is not personally involved with the treatment/​care.
Long story short… after my cavities were filled they supposedly ran out of the kits that they use to whiten teeth (they admitted that they had a kit for a patient coming in later «that had an appointment») and my discount went right out the window. I am switching providers as soon as my insurance company allows me to.
While the quality of care/​treatment from the dentist is decent… ethics does not appear to be a strong point of the Grove Dental Group. Buyer Beware.

This place is a thievery racket. They will tell you you need work that doesn’t need to be done. thank god we have an old family dentist in the Los angles area that is honest. We have gone to him after getting the dire news from grove dental and he has confirmed the work wasn’t needed and advised the work they do ie fillings root canals are shoddy work. I just wish the real dentist took HMO so we can use him. Please stay away from this place (thieves). They do not deserve one star. I wish Unilocal let you put Zero stars.

I had a totally excellent experience at grove dental. I have been to other dentists that only give you one option for fixing your teeth, and I felt like at Grove I was given all of my options in an informative way.
Another dentist I went to recently doesn’t do amalgam fillings anymore and only offered me composite. That dentist also told me that I needed hundreds of dollars worth of dental irrigations that my dentist at Grove said were unnecessary.
I was surprised at how fast they were able to fix my tooth. They also threw in a set of dental x-​rays for free since I wasn’t sure my insurance would be willing to pay for another set so soon. This is all apart from the fact that i was kept waiting precisely 5 minutes in the waiting room before i was called in. I have only been once at this point, but I feel like have finally found the dentist I have been looking for!

I had my braces put on by a dentist in Los Angeles but my teeth moved so quick that it pushed the wire out of my back molar and was cutting my cheek more than usual. I called my dentist and he said that if i could wait til monday he would cut it or i could go to my local dentist.
I called Grove dental as they are my regular dentist, made an appt with them and walked in same day. The assistant clipped the excess wire within 5 mins and I was out-​no charge!!!

IF YOU HAVE EXTRA MONEY TO SPARE THEN THIS IS THE DENTAL OFFICE FOR YOU!!!
make sure you request a pre-​estimate through your dental insurance. they overcharge for EVERYTHING!!!
regardless if this is a front office issue or office issue, someone needs to stop them from ripping people off from fillings to ortho!
