Well the motorcycle business must be doing fantastic in the I.E. I want to buy a KTM 1190r, 250sx and 65sx this week and have talked to an OC dealer and thought I would give Malcolm Smith an opportunity to earn my business (I got my first KTM there). After standing around, sitting on the bikes and having my daughter sit on what will be her new bike I got nothing! Not a hello can I help you or do you have any questions.

This place is HUGE! They have a wide selection of gear and appare. You can browse as much as you want, and even try some items on without the pressure from sales people. Staff are friendly and helpful.

So I walk into this place looking to acquire either a jet boat or wave runner. Had never been here before. I walked in looked around one person by the entrance didn’t even say hello or can I help you? I walked towards her and asked her if they sold jet boats? She said I don’t know you can ask the sales people. So I walk around as they were in the other side of the room. One was sitting on a bike and the other leaning over a bike both of them texting. I can’t tell if they were texting each other… They were so engrossed. So I kinda checked the wave runner next to them they just looked at me and continued texting… Not even hello or can I help you? Are you interested in something? Smh. The only positive thing about this visit was this guy sweeping the floor said hi! At least he has customer service skills. I guess texting is more important than a sale nowadays… My first experience looking for a boat was disappointing.

Employees here are so helpful on the floor and on the road. I just bought my first motorcycle here as a new rider with a 2015 Honda CBR 300R. Been riding now for a month an a half and I crashed my bike making a sharp left turn. Lucky for me Mike Alvarez a parts specialist, who just so happen to pass by on his break stopped by to help me with my bikes stuck gear Shifter. Mike moved my bike to safety and inspected the bike to make sure it was safe for me to ride. I almost made him late but he didn’t leave till I left on my bike safely. When I went to order a new Shifter same day Mike even helped me and gave me some pointers and made me feel a lot better. Thank you Mike Alvarez for helping me after my crash knowing what to do when I didnt and Thank you Malcolm Smith for having amazing knowledgeable employees like Mike.

Needed my rear tire changed on my 2012 gsxr 600. I had always went to Chapparal Motorsports in the past and had mostly good experiences there, but they pissed me off with their crappy return policy on a recent purchase of riding jeans. Even got the wrong size back when I came back to get my replacement jeans.
Anyways, I took my bike in on a Saturday morning and received good and fast service. They have a nice little waiting area with free coffee, reading material, and two vending machines. The showroom itself is pretty small but they have an upstairs area with more bikes on display.
Overall, I was satisfied with my first visit and plan on coming back soon to get my bike serviced.

I have always had good service here. I just got a new rear tire for my Zuma and they let me know in advance that they were short handed and might not get it done, but they did. I also decided to buy a new helmet while there and was helped with extremely courteous service! They didn’t have my size, but offered to order me one, which came in today. I ordered it on Monday. I shop here now more than Chapparal because it’s closer and they have expanded a lot!

Excellent experience. John helped us through the process of looking for a good bike for a first time rider. He was patient with us and answered all of our questions. He was knowledgeable and didn’t try to sell us any particular bike — just gave some advice and answered a million questions. We never felt stupid for not knowing and he patiently went over details with us. We went back three separate times trying to make a decision. Once we picked a bike, the process was very fast and we feel like we got a good deal with great service.

So today was my first time going into Malcolm Smith motorsports, I was shopping for some gear and I was pleasantly surprised how nice the staff is, I was greeted once I had walked in. I was checked out by Stephanie she is such a sweet girl she had a smile the whole time and had a great attitude, I will definitely recommend this store to friends and family.

Ok, I tend to write Unilocal reviews on places where I’ve had great experiences with, but I feel people should know about my personal experience when trying to deal with these people here… If it was possible to give a company negative or zero stars I would.
First, I called Malcolm Smith to ask questions about a certain bike on the phone. The sales person was very hesitant to talk numbers over the phone and was extremely short with me. I soon realized this wouldn’t go anywhere and just chalked it up to maybe they were busy or something… I was wrong. After visiting the location and waiting over 20min for someone to even acknowledge me being there, (they were all too busy socializing and the place wasn’t even busy), I was finally greeted politely, as expected… Even though I told him I was ready to buy the bike that they had on hand, cash deal, the games soon began. After an extremely frustrating haggling session, waiting 15min+ each and every time for the guy had to «check» with his sales manager, he finally came out with the sales person I was dealing with and was just plain short and rude. No joke. He even told me told «what do you expect me to do here, huh?». I just had to laugh at the whole joke of the process there and walked out… Drove way out of my way to Irvine to a place called Mission Motorsports to purchase a bike, with total satisfaction and professionalism.
In my personal opinion and experience. Avoid Malcolm Smith Motorsports like a plague. YMMV.

I was very nervous walking in today, I have only been there with my husband in the past. I felt like a stereotypical girl. I was helped by Sean. He was very patient with me and extremely helpful. I never once felt «up sold» or like any of my questions were too dumb. Customer service was on point thanks to Sean.

This place is a joke. Rude service department. Never greeted and said hello to and told they won’t be able to help me until the next day and for appt is 120 $ to look at bike. Um okay bye. I will never recommend them or buy from this horrible place ever. Surprised they’r still in business. Not even 1 star is deserved.

I took my husky for service and I wanted to add few parts, they did such a Mikey mouse job that was amazing .
They added Handel bar covers and there was some nuts and bolts that was installed not for that bike the service manager told me I will get them in the mail and I can fix it it’s easy .
I never got any thing or a phone call, they also charged me 800 dollars I am never going back very bad company.

We told him our max budget… he came back with an out the door number that was $ 800 above our price range. and said there is NO way we could get it for any less…
So we took our business somewhere else and got the same exact brand new bike for the price we wanted to pay!

Excellent customer service! I went in to exchange a gift for a smaller size. I didn’t have my receipt and they were able to look up my account and do the exchange with no questions.

I use my motorcycle as my primary mode of transportation and commute more than 500 miles a week. One day my old bike died on me and I needed to buy a new one the same day. I called Malcolm Smith and started working out a deal on a Honda NC700X. The sales person was very hesitant to work out a deal with me over the phone, and was rude, even though I told him I was buying a bike that day no matter what. After an extremely frustrating haggling session, I agreed to buy the bike. I had given the sales person all my info, including my SSN so they could start the process before I got there. I even called and texted the sales guy while on the tow truck to give him my ETA. I was shocked and extremely angered when I arrived to find out that ABSOLUTELY NOTHING HAD BEEN DONE. No paperwork had been filled out, and the bike hadn’t even been moved from it’s original spot in the showroom for prep. It still took two hours for me to ride out of there. And it gets worse.
As part of the deal on the Honda, Malcolm Smith agreed that they would install the OEM center stand and heated grips. They said they would call me when the parts came in and schedule a time to do the work. So I get a call a few days later and they tell me they don’t do appointments on Saturday; it’s first come, first serve. I wake up early on a Saturday and head in. After waiting for a couple of hours, they tell me that the center stand is installed, but that they hadn’t noticed they needed some extra parts for the grips. Now keep in mind that Malcolm Smith is an Authorized Honda dealership, and that before buying the bike I did some quick Googling and it plainly states on Honda’s website that you need the relay kit AND the sub harness to install the grips. Frustrated, I come in the next Saturday, early, before they open. After waiting for almost six hours, they tell me that they only ordered one of the two needed extra parts. It ended up taking three weekends, and over eight hours to get a center stand and heated grips installed. Besides a few apologies and lame excuses about how this was the first NC700X they had worked on, no one offered me a single thing to help make the situation right. I had to ask the service guy to wash the bike for me on my third Saturday, which he told me is something they normally do when bikes get serviced anyway.
Avoid Malcolm Smith Motorsports like the plague.

I came 50 miles out of my way to come and try and purchase a KTM 390 Duke I was unable to get a decent price range over the phone which is common in most places. I’m currently a full time student, my income currently relies on unemployment and financial aid I came in with 3000.00 cash on a 6−7k bike since I don’t have anyone to help me co sign and no employment, I was denied. I didn’t not want to leave empty so I choose a Honda CB300 °F at Sale price for 2999.99 I was willing to pay cash but with a killer fee of 2400.00 it was time to leave. I should have listened to all the previous Unilocalers.

I don’t even know where to start with this place. They’ve made it abundantly clear that they know nothing about Vespa, even though they’re listed as the Riverside dealership. I try to avoid their service center as much as possible, but I was in a bind.
I was forced to bring my bike in to have the transmission/​crank checked because I felt a loss of power and some slippage. Due to their past competency issues with my bike I decided to do most of the work myself, since I’ve had to for the past 5 years. After replacing every transmission part I could do myself, I still had some issues.
I made an appointment for Monday morning at 9am. When I arrived I was told there had been a mistake, the vespa mechanic is off on Mondays. Perfect. I explained to the tech (Joe) my issues and WHICH ITEMS WERE BRAND NEW, and left my bike to be examined. 1 week later I received a call from the tech. What a lying POS. He told my my crank was bent (kinda figured) and the rest of my transmission bits were worn. I called him out on his lie, explained that they only had a couple miles on them, and not to replace those items.
It took them over 3 weeks to get the part! Why would you not check the shop in SD, they always have it in stock? After an obnoxious wait, I finally get the call. I pay BEFORE they gave me the break down, and of course, they charged me for parts and labor for work I specifically told them not to do. To make things worse, my seat latch button doesn’t work anymore. Obviously the tech kept slamming the seat down instead of pressing it. The metal latch is warped now. I wanted to walk right back in but I never want to deal with this spot again. I’m over it fellas, your incompetent, ignorance, and downright sheisty business practices are appalling. I appreciate Joe issuing my refund for the difference in parts, that’s why you get a star instead of posting this as a tip, which never gets cycled out.

This is my initial review of Malcolm Smith Motorsports and it may change in the future.
My girlfriend has been in the sale world for a while so we are familiar with it’s dark side, but let me tell you, these guys has taken it to another level. Buyers beware, you are in for a long, and uncomfortable Ride.
I called these people asked to buy a Honda CBR300r. The sale person (I am not going to ruin his life my mentioning his name because I know this is on Malcolm and not him) told me the bike was available and ready to be sold. We arrived at the place and were asked to wait until my credit check was done. After a while this sale person came up to us and took us to a way different bike that was $ 4000 more than the bike I originally asked for. According to this person my credit score was good enough for this expensive motorcycle but not the cheaper Honda. When I told him that I want the Honda his attitude and tone changed, arguing that my credit was not checked for Honda but for Yamaha. Why would you check my credit for a $ 8000 Yamaha when I specifically asked you to check it for a CBR300r?
He went on for an hour to persuade us to buy the Yamaha or other bikes in the same price range because according to him the Honda bike was the worse bike ever built! while I again and again explained my financial situation as a college kid and asked him to check for the cheaper one. Why would you force your sale pitch on somebody that is telling you he cannot afford an expensive motorcycle? what about the empathy and sympathy that we used to receive from family businesses? ALL GONE
After 2 hours of going back and forth. They finally told me that I could not get the Honda because my credit inquiry was done for Yamaha and I was rejected for Honda. Since I couldn’t afford the $ 8000 bike we were directed to a Yamaha V-​Star 250 with a price tag under $ 3500. Lets put aside that I was told this bike could handle two small people for a ride and it doesn’t. My final cost came down to more than $ 6000! including a $ 600 optional extended warranty with the part «optional» completely left out of the sale pitch.
In short you go here to buy something you like. They don’t sell it to you and you end up paying thousands of dollars more for something you are forced to buy because you been there for hours, you need a new ride, and your brain and body is done. I am a college student, and this was my first ever purchase from a dealer. I would never trust one and I will go out of my way to read through every detail, small print and sentence to make sure I was never tricked again.
This sale has cost me not only my precious savings, but everyday I have to wake up mad riding this uncomfortable bike to school and work.
I called to cancel the warranty. The sale specialist that helped us with the purchase was awfully rude to me and my girlfriend on the cancellation process. we walked in with a smile and asked to cancel, but were treated badly. And I am 100% sure there will be further problems with that cancellation too as the sale person literally refused to give us any confirmations beside waiting a month and see if the balance is reduced!
This is the age of internet Malcolm, you already have bad reviews here, change the system before someone more honest come along and replaces you.

It saddens me to read some of these reviews, but I realize I always dealt with Malcolm himself and maybe that is the difference. I have been Malcolm’s customer and Malcolm has been my customer. I first met Malcolm over 40 years ago and I honestly have never worked with a more outstanding person. Seriously, in all my business transactions over the years no one has ever had as much integrity as Malcolm Smith.
I bought a couple of bikes from Malcolm. They were his race bikes from his personal shop. They were amazingly fast as a professionally prepped Husqvarna should have been. I scared myself many times in the desert with those bikes! But, even though with me onboard the bikes were fast they were nothing like what I saw Malcolm do with them. At the Baja, the Mint 400, Soboba, and Elsinore I saw him do impossible things with a motorcycle. The Man is truly a legend and that is why he is in as many racing halls of fame as he is in.
I know Malcolm is no longer personally at the dealership often, but I am sure he still checks in. Here’s a wild ass idea… Why not call and see if you can set up an appointment to deal with him the next time he is in Riverside? Can’t hurt to try.
