MFI Recovery Center: Woodcrest Residential Facility

First of all just wanted to say thank you to all the staff at mfi .I had been to many treatment facilities in the past and I’ve got to say hands down Mfi has the best caring loving and understanding Staff I have come across. They truly care. The food is great. You are assigned a personal counselor with whome you work an in depth treatment plan. I have been clean and sober for over 30 months and have not been incarcerated I have a life worth living today and Mfi gave me a place to build a foundation and the tools that I need to be a productive responsible member of society thank you mif i love you all.

As far as a clinical rehab facility goes MFI as a whole is a great 12 step based treatment option. It’s run in a professional manner by people who have walked in the steps of the clients for the most part and can show them a new direction to take their life’s and get a start in recovery. MFI offers medical detox, short and long term inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, for men and women (at separate location’s), and as in my case again gave me the tools and basic direction to take and get my life back.

I was at the Woodcrest facility for 104 days. I must say that the experience was pretty bad. In the end much like any treatment program it is up to the client to stay sober regardless of treatment. I can say that I am still sober but at what cost. The Woodcrest facility is for clients who are referred by the state offender program. Almost all are parolees who violated thier conditions of release. Having a prison state of mind by the clients makes it hard for the staff. Unfortunately they do not do too much to change this. Most are manipulative and can be verbally abusive. During my time here a staff member became physical with me and was suspended for 2 weeks. I constantly had problems with the staff being disrespectful and brought it to the facility mangers attention. She handled it to the best of her ability and I have no complaints about her. The job training teacher told other clients that she would physically assault me. That was handled well I believe. She disappeared. The food is cooked and prepared by clients with zero training or health certificates. It comes from the local food pantry at zero cost for a non profit facility. Often times near or past expiration. I noticed that since they do not have adequate facilities to properly handle frozen foods they where left out over night to defrost. I ended up contracting E Coli. Maybe from the food. Maybe from the water and juice coolers that had black mold on them. These are just a few issues. I would consider another facility. From what I hear the other program for men is not bad. It is coed and the clients are respected.
