Riverside Stamp & Coin Shop

Rudest people ever. I called them ahead before going, made sure they are open.
Once I arrived there the guy (in the photo with the dog) said «we are closing now, come after an hour»
I told him I’m not from riverside, I drove 50 miles; then he said come another day…
How rude.

I called the day before visiting. The owner Craig said he had what I was looking for. So I visit the next day. The owner shows up 2 and half hours late.
He was tweaking! He was obviously on crack! He then said he didn’t have what I was looking for, and left abruptly. I’ve seen crack addicts before, and I’m positive he was on crack!

I love this shop! I’ve bought many pieces of jewelry here and my husband seriously collects coins. So while my husband is talking coins, I am browsing. After, we retired and moved away, we still come back, vacation in the beautiful city of Riverside and enjoy the delicious food of Riverside and buy, buy, buy coins and etc. from
Riverside Stamp and Coin store. Craig is very knowledgeable, and fair but you really should have some knowledge after all this is a store not a «school»! Also, I recommend the antique store across the parking lot. Many great things can be found there. You need to have knowledge there as well or just buy what you like and forget the rest.

I read all of the negative reviews, and first it is not their job to teach anyone about coins or stamps. If you want to learn about either of these items, get yourself a book or go online and do your own research. And if someone tells you that your coins or stamps are worthless, they are probably right. Don’t get butt hurt, if they are worthless in value, but if they have sentimental value then put them in a book if you want… save them or whatever… use common sense. But any collector that knows their stuff is going to tell you the same thing. There are plenty of forums as well to get advise or values. No one wants to do the work for you… unless you pay them. It’s a store to make a profit not provide free education on collectors items. Be patient to get some help, they have a lot of customers to deal with and will help you when it’s your turn. This store is one of my favorites. Don’t go in there with an attitude that the world owes you or anywhere in that case, learn the culture of these types of hobbies/​collectors and don’t be a whining baby, toughen up or get off the porch!
I recommend this shop to anyone that is looking to add to their collection of coins, stamps and unique items. They have coin auctions too that is super fun to participate in.

Poor service, rude, and terrible business practice. My girlfriends grandmother had recently passed and we found her stamps she’s been saving since the 50s. All we asked is if we could get some insight of the value of the stamps. All he said, and kept saying, is that any modern stamps will have to be added up and will be bought at half of face value. He absolutely refused to help us determine the value of any of the stamps. He wouldn’t even look at the stamps. We kept asking how do we determine the age and he would respond with «the book they are in should have a date». They were loose stamps and he still refused to help. And then he had the nerve to tell us to use them when we mail out letters.
I myself had brought in my late grandfathers coin collection. It wasn’t much, but he had invest quite a bit into the collection. I open up the case and he didn’t even look at what I had brought in, just saw that I had sets of minted coins. All he said was «Each set is about five bucks» I’ve sold duplicates of three of the sets in the past and got $ 250.
Not to mention the toothless old man that was screaming into the phone at someone because he didn’t want to use a computer to change his pin.
Will never return to this shop ever again.

I called and was advised that they buy mint US Stamps, Come on down. However when I got there, My wife and I were completely ignored. I had to address them to get help. The place is very cluttered and they made us feel like we were bothering them and then to add insult to the whole event, they told me that they will only pay half face value for the stamps regardless of the value. Real poor business experience. DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME!!! :(

Worse place and rudest people I’ve ever dealt with!
I’ve been collecting for 32 years and have never met ruder people. I had thousands to spend in coins yet they would not even acknowledge I was a serious customer even though I’d never been there before.
Sad, sad, sad…

Ive been to several coin shops over the last two years or so and this is the one that I prefer. I have been treated fairly in my opinion. The owner, Craig is a real nice guy and can be generous as well. I think that while no business is perfect, if something doesn’t go perfectly, Craig will make an extra effort to make up for it. I have received good deals from here. I feel treated the most like a person here, rather than being treated with pure businesslike cold personalities as in other places.

Friendly knowledgable staff. They have most everything you can imagine at a fair price. I’ve shopped there dozens of times tho I live in NorCal..

Very poor customer sevice!!! Rude! I went in to buy 20 ounces of silver coins. When I was done with my purchas $ 800. I herd the store clerk say to the customer that he was serving.” Ill wait till this guy leaves before I tell you the appraisal price of this ring. I know that he was talking about me because I was the only one in the store becides the customer that he was serving… There are many ways to handel that situation differently like WRITING the quote on a piece of paper. I am not a thief i dont look like a thief… And just alluding that the ring had value would have been enough for me to lie in wait for him outside of the store… Had i been a thief. Im going to vote NO with my $$.

I have been into Riverside Stamp and Coin on many occassions. Whether I have come in to browse or buy, I have always been greeted right away.
I am rather new to coins and bullion, but the staff is extremely knowledgable and takes the time needed to help someone like myself make a solid purchase or sale.
The pricing whether buying or selling has always been at fair market value, not inflated like most internet sellers.
I have had nothing but 5 star service on every visit and highly recommend them to anyone looking into collectables.

I’ve been a customer of Riverside Stamp & Coin for nearly 30 years now. I can’t imagine anyone ever being treated poorly here. I don’t live in the area and visit infrequently. I don’t spend a ton of money, either, as my interests are very basic. Each and every time I visit I am always treated well. Everyone is helpful, the prices are right, and my business is just as important to them as those who spend thousands of dollars. The owner and his staff is especially knowledgeable and never hesitate to answer any questions I may have. These folks do things RIGHT and whenever I am in town I look forward to visiting them. They actually remember me after all these years!

«Two visits — both bad»
The first time I went in, I had to stand in the corner for a couple of minutes before anyone «buzzed me in» through their locked door. Although there were no other customers in the store, no one seemed to want to help me, so I left.
The second time was just yesterday. I went in and asked for some help and was guided to a case of coins. I couldn’t find what I needed on my own so I went back to the counter for help. The lady who had shown me to the case was helping another customer. The man, ken, behind the counter never bothered to come up and help me, and neither did anyone else. He just sat there looking at coins without even acknowledging me. I had to wait for the other woman to finish which was quite a while to be ignored in such a tiny store. When I finally got her attention, she seemed annoyed to have to help me.
I noticed that a lot of their coins don’t have prices listed on them. I asked why they don’t mark the prices on and was told if I want to know how much something is, I could just ask. (not so easy when they aren’t ready to help you. not to mention the coins are in a locked case so I have to ask to look at each one) What’s the point on not marking them? I asked. They said it was because they are so busy with customers that they want to focus on getting coins sold and will just tell you the price when you want them. The real answer is so they can jack the price up if they think you have no idea what it’s worth. I asked for the specific coins I wanted, and received 2 mint coins. I asked why they looked like they had been rubbed smooth and was told, «they are 40 year old coins, they aren’t going to look brand new.» sorry, but isn’t that the point of mint condition? She had to ask the guy, ken, for a price who looked up and pulled a random dollar amount from his butt. In addition, a lot of the coins that were priced, were priced way higher than they should have been.
