History

Established in 1979.

Joseph M. Dowling, CPA founded the Dowling Group because he believed that local families and businesses should have access to sound and unbiased financial advice. His experience at Arthur, Young & Co., (now Ernst & Young), in New York City became the catalyst to bring comprehensive financial guidance to his local clients.

In the beginning it was the independent thinkers who gravitated to the Dowling Group. For over three decades, the Dowling Group has helped those independent minded clients protect and grow their wealth. We are a family owned business that works with other families and their businesses.

Today the clientele of the Dowling Group remain those who value independence and depth of expertise. They want a personalized approach from competent experts with a successful track record over three decades long.

Meet the Business Owner

Sean D.

Business Owner

Sean Dowling is the second generation owner of the Dowling Group. Joseph Dowling, CPA, is also an owner and founder of the Dowling Group. Sean is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) professional and an Enrolled Agent (EA). He is a graduate of the University of Connecticut and the College for Financial Planning. Sean practices comprehensive financial planning and is a licensed tax expert. His focus is on integrating across the areas of tax, estate, investments and financial strategies for protecting and growing wealth. Sean lives in Old Greenwich with his wife and children. He is an avid swimmer and golfer. He competes internationally in swimming and golf events. In addition to his work with the Dowling Group, Sean serves on the Board of Directors as Treasurer to the Fairfield County Financial Planning Association and the Board of Overseers as Director of Development of the Horizon’s National Program at Sacred Heart University.
