We spent a lot of time researching and shopping for a mattress and narrowed it down to a Sterns and Foster that was way over budget. With a little more research I found the one we wanted with these great people. It was seriously the easiest transaction ever. From the first phone call to delivery! When I first called the gal wanted to check to see if the one we wanted was still available and said she’d have someone call right back. They did and scheduled delivery in San Diego for the next day. They only charged us $ 50.(It was going to be $ 90 from the local Sears Outlet). Delivery driver called when they were leaving and arrived here at the set time. They set the bed up in no time. The bed was in it’s plastic and still had tags attached from Sears. One small ink stain (that I was told about ahead of time) made it possible for us to buy a $ 3000 mattress for $ 1250. We will use them again!
They said they allow a one time comfort exchange but we won’t be needing it. Finally a great night of sleep

Carlos did a great job for me and delivered the mattress I wanted for less than a third of the price in the store. He also had the delivery guy bring two other mattresses for firmness comparison which just confirmed the mattress I wanted. The service was GREAT! The mattress did not have any tags on it – just one that says «AS IS» (which I dont know if that is legal to sell in California (
) but Carlos and the person who picked up the phone originally said it was because they were overstocks – that doesnt make total sense to me but okay). The mattress looked and smelled like new and I even unzipped the mattress exterior cover to look at the foam inside which also looked new. The mattress came in a bag. The bag had about 4 holes in it. The places where the bag had holes, the mattress was a bit dirty but I was able to clean the cover with some soap and water making it look new. After I paid, Carlos then he emailed a personal 5 year warranty (there would be no warranty from the factory since no tags) and a 30 day one time exchange (I was surprised that the exchange could take place and no mattress cover was required as in all the other stores – saved me money but maybe someone else had this mattress for a month). So the service was excellent, the whole thing was a bit scary because of all the bad stories out there. The mattress was delivered yesterday and so far seems like a perfect fit for what I needed.

Complete WASTE of money! Bought what was supposedly a top-​of-​the-​line mattress that was sagging almost instantly. Carlos said he would refund the money but then stopped answering calls, emails and texts. I’m working with the manufacturer of the mattress to inspect it because the quality is not that of a first-​hand overstock mattress as Carlos claimed. This business’s dealings seem very shady and I would urge people not to fall victim to the scam. Several of the «5-​star» reviews on here are written by people with limited previous reviews which is also suspect.

So for once what sounded to good to be true was actually TRUE! WE Just purchased a Brand new Stearns and Fosters Luxury Estate mattress and matching boxspring for an incredible unbelievable price! I’ve been shopping around looking at stores like Sears outlet cause I love me a killer deal, and believe it or not I got our new set for 1000 dollars less than the clearance price! If you’re like me and you are sketchy about Craigslist postings I promise you that you will not be disappointed. Carlos was awesome! Friendly and very professional he showed me as many mattresses I wanted to see. Poor guy. Lol I would recommend The So Cal mattress man to everyone. We took a gamble driving all the way from San Diego and let me tell you… it paid off.

We called Carlos in search of a new mattress after having bad luck with a top of the line name brand mattress after having it one year. Carlos was honest and discouraged us from spending on a new mattress because he said he could fix ours. He sent someone to pick it up, repair and return to us all in the same day. Carlos was right on. The bed is as good as new. I would highly recommend this business to anyone and will definitely visit Carlos for future mattress needs.

It’s only been a day since we’ve had the mattress delivered, but so far so good. The purchasing process seemed easy, Jovie, the owner, was quick to communicate with. She responded promptly and within a few hours the mattress was delivered. We purchased a Stearns and Foster Estate Firm Pillow Top. It’s amazing. Came in perfect condition. My only concern was the boxspring wasn’t a perfect fit. But whatever, its ok. So now, I’m just waiting to see if I have any issues and if anyone will respond if I should have any.
Update– So its been a couple days now. As so far so good! The mattress feels amazing! I sleep like a baby! I also had no trouble getting a receipt and my warranty, which was the only thing I was wary of. Its scary buying off craigslist, but if you buy from the right people then its not so bad! Would definitely do business with them again! Jovie responded promptly to my concerns about the boxspring– this shows shes concerned about customer satisfaction! Love it!

I was a little skeptical at first on buying a mattress sight unseen and over the telephone, but after Carlos, the owner assured me if I was not happy with the mattress he would take it back, no questions asked. He stated he just wanted me to be totally happy with the purchase. He built the bed I requested and called me when it was finished for delivery. So I ordered the double pillow top Cal King Firm mattress (still a bit skeptical) and he delivered it to me for an additional $ 50. I live in the San Diego area and I agreed. He was on time as promised and delivered a beautiful mattress set that was just what I ordered! The mattress itself was 14 inches deep and box springs were the standard 8 inches… the bed was too tall on the frame (which is also very tall) We both looked at each other and knew it would be difficult to get in and out of. He promised me a low profile box spring and delivered it to me again to make it right… no extra charge. I have been sleeping on it for a week now and have no more back pain and am very happy with my purchase of $ 900.00. This mattress in a store (if I could even find a double pillow top) would have cost me twice that!
I do recommend the local mattress man to any one who wants a good quality bed at very reasonable prices… I will let you know in 6 months if the bed still holds up and no sagging occurs… until then… great service and quality!

Sometimes you find out more about a business when things don’t go as planned. First off their prices can’t be beat! I purchased a mattress that sells at all the standard mattress stores for 1599.00 + tax. Same mattress, brand new with delivery 800.00. Saved close to 1000.00! Upon delivery my girlfriend told me she thought the mattress was too soft. I tried it out and agreed, this was noticeably softer then the mattress we tried out elsewhere. The delivery team was ready to leave when I asked them to call the owner (Carlos) and let him know there’s a problem. After a quick chat it was evident they delivered the plush version of the mattress versus the firm version we had ordered. Without missing a beat I was assured the issue would be corrected right away. Mind you the business is located 50+ miles from my home. After one of the delivery team finished the conversation with Carlos I was told they would be going back to pickup the correct mattress and make the switch. Low and behold, two hours later they arrived again, this time with the firm version we had ordered. They made the switch and were on there way. Needless to say, my girlfriend is very happy with her new mattress and even happier with the money she saved! I would definitely use the So Cal Mattress Man for any of my future mattress needs. Warning!!! Do NOT buy from this guy!!! Total flake, scam artist! Worst, longest experience in my purchase history of buying anything!!!
This has been an awful ongoing battle for me for the last month and a half.
I ordered a mattress from this company and the day of delivery I got rid of my old mattress. After I had done so and I was told delivery would be at noon, I never receive any call to tell me mattress wasn’t coming. I finally get a hold of Carlos at 4pm to be told they can’t deliver it until the following day. I said that was fine my husband and I could sleep on couch one night. Next day rolls around and once again hear nothing all day when he was supposed to be at my house at 1. I finally reach him to be told he has no mattress for me. We slept on an air bed for a week. Finally, he says he has my mattress but the over was a little dirty. He said he would have it cleaned, I said of it come out good let me know and I’ll take it. He tells me it came out perfect! They finally deliver it 9 days late. I am a little female that had to help take it up my stairs cause he sent a women to deliver it. It was so heavy and I was in a rush to get out! I helped her, paid her and when I got home at took the plastic off I noticed the edge of mattress was very dirty! He never cleaned it cause there is no cover for this mattress! On top of that it’s the wrong mattress! I immediately let him know and he said he would take care of it right away. Once my check cleared I didn’t hear from him! I finally sent a text telling him I was going to report him and flag him on his advertising sights if he didn’t replace or refund me my money. He of course called me within seconds but it wasn’t to apologize. It was to yell at me and cuss me out. He was very threatening and really scared me. After yelling back and forth for 30 mins, he agreed to replace mattress. Here I am 4 weeks later still with a dirty mattress I never even wanted with no word from him. He has put me through hell. I just hope nobody else buys from him! All I want is my money back to buy the mattress I wanted in the first place!

You get what you pay for. Great price, lousy customer service. We bought an iComfort bed and it was way too firm. We called Carlos and told him we wanted to upgrade to the Savant. Sure no problem he said. He was supposed to deliver/​exchange on Friday, Jan. 31st. No show, no call. Finally called his partner Nicole who told me Carlos went to Mexico. It’s now Feb 19th and he refuses to take our calls. So much for the 30 day exchange or the 5 year warranty. Very shady people.

just dealt with carlos… ordered an adjustable bed, one of the motors did not work upon set up.
He told me he would be back the next day with a new motor, and true to his word he
was.
I cannot speak to the warrenty issues since I just bought the mattress and box.
I can say he did what he said he would, and I bought a $ 3000 set for about $ 1200
