Just completed the accelerated course, Let’s just say this course is no joke. You really have to put in the work and read the book. Brian, the instructor is excellent and is engaging. Pay attention to him, figure out your study rhythm and DONT FALL BEHIND. Brian really wants everyone to pass! I would suggest that you form study groups. I commuted from over 30 miles (an hour a day with traffic) and let’s just say that hour took away crucial study time as well as study group time. Make sure you schedule your time appropriately. I have completed many college courses and for a time I didn’t think I was going to get the 80% that is required to pass. But stick it out and put in the effort, and you can pass this course. I’m looking to take my NREMT, next week and I believe I’m very prepared to pass! I would recommend going here over all other places.

I just finished the accelerated class on December 17^th. I loved it and I’m proud to say I passed the NREMT on the 21^st! Bryan was fantastic and truly cared about all of us.
You MUST do the reading and you MUST study. It was an accelerated course and was perfect for me but definitely isn’t for someone who isn’t going to take it seriously and do the reading and the work. Your life will be EMT for 5 weeks. You’re in class from 8 – 5 and then studying after and on weekends. My book went everywhere with me. I purchased the book two weeks ahead of time and started reading it, they require chapters 1 – 4 to be read before the first day. I read a lot more than that and I’m glad I did.
Thank you Bryan, Emma and everyone at west coast EMT for making my experience a great one. I left the class feeling confident and excited about my future.

I took this class summer ’15 and it was awesome. Though it was a lot of readings, Bryan and Jeff made it easier to understand and were a hoot! It really made it fun to be there and they genuinely wanted to help us pass the course. People who complain on here weren’t good students and don’t have anyone to blame but themselves; even IF the instructors may have said something wrong by mistake, if you did any kind of reading from that giant book we buy, you’d know! My boyfriend and I always asked questions to be sure of miscommunication like that. As for a previous review I read that said people cheated and everyone in the back of the room did the best, is so not true. My entire group in the second row of the class did well and passed the course!
So don’t listen to those bitter reviews, they’re just poor students with bad study tactics. Try everything you can with this course because if you really want it, you’ll excel and the instructors are willing to work with you. Especially with learning your skills, everything is retained better if you work with your classmates and do everything hands on! This class was worth the long hours, money, and hot testing days (which was only because so many bodies were together in the classroom), but I know they’ve changed buildings and it looks 10 times better.
Oh, and by the way, we passed our NREMT exams the first try so Westcoastemt is doing something right. They’re grrrrrreat!

I’ve been in this course for a week. It feels longer… I’ve already learned a lot of information. Bryan the instructor speaks clear and explains everything from day one. There is no guessing on what needs to be done. He answers any question big or small. If u want to pass READ THE BOOK… U will pass the tests if u read the book and retain the information… Bryan is easy to talk to and can hold your attention while teaching… Some instructor you can’t help but fall asleep In class. Not this one. He keeps it interesting and wanting to know more. I contacted him over the weekend to ask a question n he got back to me with an answer even thou I said it could wait until Monday… I appreciated that since I interrupted him time off… I think we have a good group. Some are a little to chatty with false information but that’s where Knowing the book comes in and not listening to people who have not read it. So far I love this class. I left my job to finish the course because it is a lot to take in and this course should be taken very serious and given the time… As far as skill testing Bryan takes the time to show you and have you do n he will ask if you understand it. As per some comments. He gets in there n cleans the bathrooms and the rest of the class so you have more time to study. I can not leave out Emma. She’s great … She has stopped what she was doing for many of us when we have needed something. Always pleasant. Again I would recommend this to anyone who is Serious about learning.// I passed my NREMT on the first try… After passing the class I have kept in contact with Brian and Emma who still help to give advise and guidance … Very thankful to them both.

I took the accelerated course this past September with Bryan. It was absolutely wonderful and VERY challenging. I totally recommend this course but I strongly suggest it is the ONLY thing you do for that entire month. I mean take time off work, take time off school, apologize to your family because, as Bryan said, you need to live this material for five weeks.
I was at a UC school before attending this course and, without exaggeration, I can say I was studying at least two hours a day and double on the weekends. That’s on top of the class which runs from 8 in the morning to 5 at night.
Bryan does a very good job at making the material accessible and fun. He really put a lot of effort into varying the way we learned and it was absolutely invaluable when it came to test time.
He’s a really competent guy and willing to go the extra mile to help you but YOU HAVE TO DO THE READING. The textbook is over a thousand pages and you’re learning the material in a month. Byian can only lecture so much and it’s really down to you to get it all in your head.
I know I’m making this sound sort of scary but I promise it’s all worth it! I took the NREMT last week and passed it first try! I felt very confident and comfortable because of the work this course made me put in. If you do the reading and ask questions you WILL pass.

Heard a lot of great things about West Coast EMT. I can’t wait to get started with my class soon :)

I just finished the Evening Course yesterday and the experience I had with West Coast EMT was very positive. Our main instructor was Bryan but for the first 2 weeks he was in Honduras for a medical trip. Aside from him we had other instructors like Jeff, Richard, Jason, and Denise. Though normally I don’t really like having multiple instructors in one course, I took exception in this course because they were not only able to teach us a lot, but their different personalities, experiences, and ways of teaching helped us to further understand what the world of EMS is really like.
Bryan was awesome because he not only helped us understand the material we were learning but also he was very caring and helpful at all times. He really wanted all of us to pass and did what he could to help us. When the class didn’t do well, he truly showed concern and really wanted to know what was going on so he could try to improve the way he teaches.
To all the future students though, be warned that though this school does have a high NREMT pass rate, that does not mean this course is easy. We started with 42 students in this class but in the end, only 18 of us managed to complete the course. A lot of students were unable to reach the 80% mark required for the class and the final exam itself. I would honestly attribute this to the fact that a lot of the students in my class either worked, didn’t listen to Bryan, or did not have much prior medical experience and were overwhelmed by the material. Listen to the advice Bryan gives and really devote your time into this class. Don’t give up and take advantage of the time you have in the class.
My experience here was very positive but there were a few negatives. A lot of the equipment was very old and worn out to the point that it wasn’t a surprise if something didn’t work and the building was definitely a bit run down and had many problems but Bryan did mention that he will be moving to a better building.
Other than that, West Coast EMT was definitely worth the price and an experience I would never forget as I start my career as an EMT.

I just finished the evening class last night and I have to say that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time at West Coast EMT in Riverside. All of the instructors are incredible and very knowledgeable. They provide insights using their anecdotal experiences and give the students a good grasp of the concepts being taught. One of the best parts about this course is the relationships you build with the other students. Bryan (the main instructor) creates an atmosphere of cooperation and togetherness and truly wants everyone to pass. We were really all there to help each other succeed and that mentality started from the top down. I would strongly recommend West Coast EMT in Riverside to anyone looking to get their EMT certification.

At first when I signed-​up for the course, I was a little wary because I had planned on taking an EMT certification course at a local community college (it turns out they didn’t offer one over the summer). So I came across West Coast during a Google search and found it to be the one that fit my schedule the best.
I took the Weekend EMT-​Certification Course with Brian as the (main) instructor.
He was extremely helpful; his lectures were concise and to-​the-​point yet also engaging. He gives anecdotes occasionally and they really help in not only giving a grasp of what kinds of cases you might see in the field but also in helping remember some of the relelvant information/​concepts.
But at the end of the day, lectures cannot substitute reading. This is stressed throughout the course and cannot be emphasized enough. No lecture by any school can make-​up for the information in the book. At the end of the day, it is up to YOU to decide whether you want to pass or fail the course. I ended up reading each chapter at least a few times to make sure I knew the information. It’s very time consuming, but your effort will be worth it when time comes for you to take the certification exam.
Due to the nature of a weekend course (Saturdays and Sundays from 8am~5pm… it’s kind of tough), a few people dropped out and I don’t think Brian will continue teaching this course (but I think he is still teaching the weekday full-​time course).
Also, Emma, the secretary (?) of the Riverside campus was extremely helpful and patient when it came to rescheduling my ride-​alongs and such.
Overall, everyone at West Coast was very helpful.
I just took the certification exam today morning. After having passed the course, the test felt very easy; I was surprised because they cut me off around 60, 70 questions. And well, I checked my application status just right now, and I’m certified!
I highly recommend West Coast EMT to anyone who plans on taking an EMT course. But remember that simply going to class won’t cut it. You need to put the extra work in, not only to pass the class but also to pass the certification exam.
P. S. Also I don’t understand why anybody would complain about the place «looking like a dump and very unprofessional»? You’re not paying for a 5-​star hotel room. It’s actually fairly clean.

Bryan, the main instructor, was one of the best teachers I’ve had. The material isn’t easy to stay awake so bring coffee, however Bryan made the material very practical and interesting by including personal experiences.
He was extremely helpful; not only did he care about getting the out to the students, but he truly cared about the students. He made himself available to us basically ²⁴⁄₇. Something that very few instructors will do for their students. Use your resources (other students, your books, even some websites to help to), but especially use him! He will be glad to help, i can tell you that from first hand experience.

I just wrapped up the full time class. Here’s my 2 cents.
The instructors were full of knowledge and always made themselves available. Brian would frequently say «if you need help, please come see me… I want to help you». He even came in an hour early for some sudents one day. Pretty cool of him to do that if you ask me.
Brian was missing for the first week of class on a trip to Haiti. I’ll cut him some slack though because he left us in good hands with Jeff and after all, he was volunteering in a third world country on his own dime. He gets some points in my book for that.
The full time class is pretty tough. It’s going to take some serious studying. You’ve got to put in the effort if you want to pass. That said, only 6 people in my class of 40 failed out.
The bathrooms were clean in the morning and dirty by the end of the day. There were 40 people using them throughout the day, that’s what happens. Not really a big deal.
Like every class I’ve ever been in, there were some people who were caught cheating. Once the staff found out who they were, they were quickly removed from the class… I fail to see how that is the fault of the instructors as pointed out in other reviews.
Maybe I’m a little bias in my review because I honestly feel like a learned a ton and feel very well prepared by the course. All said and done, I’d highly recommend this school to anyone looking to get their EMT cert.

This is one of the Hardest classes I have ever taken! Im only 18 years old and I passed this class, so no excuse if you put in the time and study. I took to Full Time EMT Course and I learned so much, the instructors where all awesome. Bryan is the Primary Instructor, he is a very humble but knowledgeable man, he is always tying to help us out and does and amazing job at it. Also Jeff is an amazing instructor. He teaches the class, as an adult class (which it is). Out of all the instructors I loved his lectures and way of explaining things to us. He doesn’t smile much but when he does its like… a magical moment lol. Also Ryan, he is an awesome instructor, he taught us skills. I think that we need more skills but Ryan taught us everything he could in his time frame. And Richard, he was a funny guy, kinda looked like George Lopez, except he is a Firefighter. He began our class and got me understanding basically 20 chapters in one week. Sounds crazy right? Well its a fast paced course, and that just shows the quality of the instructors. Lastly I just want to thank the Office manager Emma, for dealing with us and grading everything super fast for us, to much paperwork, but she does it. Over all if you want a great EMT Course with awesome instructors, hard tests, and great classmates this is the place for you to go. All the bad reviews on here are from people that failed because they CHOOSE to not study. Life is all choices, this just shows who made the right ones. Thanks again to all the instructors: D

I took the full time course. There’s a diamond here in the rough but it’s really rough. Over the course of four weeks we had four different instructors, all of which disagreed with each other and only one of them really prepared us for the test.
Bryan: Great, very kind, but he was on vacation for the first and last week even though he’s listed as the «primary instructor.»
Richard: Great, very efficient and thorough.
Ryan: Great
Jeff: Great, a bit rough around the edges and seemed at times dishonest, would accuse the other instructors of outright lying.
The facility is not in good condition. Aside from the dead roaches (which, arguably, may be considered the fault of students leaving food everywhere), there are some pretty major issues. 2/​3s of the building is just an empty, unfinished warehouse with no insulation (in the middle of a desert and I took this class in the summer). There are some facility problems that just boil down to maintenance — one of the toilets just sits open without a lid. One of the bathrooms perpetually has piss all over the floor. As mentioned in a «not recommended» review, there are marks all over the walls. The instructors all chew tobacco and Bryan will spit into the corner (one of the most disgusting things I’ve ever seen).
Over the course of the class, I was given a lot of conflicting information about what was expected of the class and what the rules were. Everyone was told to have their uniform by the start of class, but a lot of people didn’t even have theirs until the last week. One instructor told me we could retake the final physical skills test, another told me we couldn’t. An instructor for one week would tell us that we passed our practice tests, an instructor the next week told us that the previous instructor had been lying. Some instructors would finish up by 2 or 3. Some of the instructors were very hands on when it came to skills practice, others wanted «organized chaos.» Any time there was a problem, we’d be told to take it up with someone else: take it up with another instructor, take it up with Emma. Overall there didn’t seem to be a real «chain of command,» and I feel like people just passed the wand — I heard that Bryan is the owner of the Riverside branch but it seems like Emma is in charge of everything.
Cheating was a massive problem in our class. One of the instructors caught a student taking pictures of the exam and just scolded him. People have their phones out during the tests, copy the tests down and have them in their pockets. We were told ours would be the last class to be able to look at the tests.
The tests are horrible. At least ten of the answers per test directly contradict either what the instructors or the book would teach us. We would be told to go with what the book says, but then we’d be told to go with what the instructors taught us. The people in the back of the class did the best, you can probably imagine why. We were taught to focus on BLS, ABCs, to worry about order of priorities and events but then when the tests came around there was a specific answer that fell out of this order and very often it would be flat out wrong.
All of that said, the atmosphere generally seems supportive and the class itself is very thorough, I feel like I learned a lot from the class and if I took the NREMT I’m sure that I’d pass.
Overall, it just seemed in general to be really disorganized and unprofessional for an academic environment. I would not recommend the full time class to anyone.

HORRIBLE. horrible EMT class. For starters, the location is hard to find, the place looks like a dump and very unprofessional. There are marks all over the walls and SEVERAL bugs such as cockroaches were found and the «staff» does not do anything about it. The instructor doesn’t even have an office just has a desk seems very unprofessional, both the bathrooms are in horrible condition and always smell (you’ll be lucky if you don’t find a bug in there). The instructor (Bryan) does not do a good job of teaching goes thorough the slides RAPID FAST and does NOT give you time to write down the information. Even if you call the instructor on the weekends for questions or the office nobody ever answers. He is very rude and only wants to pass the students that he wants to. DO NOT waste your time on this class because it is a waste of your time and money and energy. Prefer going somewhere else trust me, several people told me that this class was horrible and the instructor is not good but i decided to go with it since it seems good to be but DO NOT fall into the trap. GO somewhere else.

I took this EMT class about a month ago. I was in the full time class and it was a lot of work. However, the teacher and aids that come in are very knowledgeable and can help you through any troubles you are having. The classes are very interactive and we take frequent short breaks so we don’t burn out before class is over. The tests reflect what we go over in class, so take good notes and don’t forget to read the book. if you have questions, just ask! Every question we had always had an answer. At the end of the class, there is a final and a skills test. The lectures in class fully prepared me for the final. There is also plenty of in class practice for the skills test.
MOST IMPORTANTLY!!!
This class 100% prepared me for the national EMT exam.
All of my classmates that took the exam passed their first try as well.
What more could you ask for?
