Baylee’s Best Chocolates

I hate to ruin the 5-​star streak of this place, but total honesty means I have to.
Let’s start with the good:
Clearly, this woman knows her chocolate. She is passionate and committed and wants to make chocolates comparable to other fine chocolatiers. Focusing on Belgian chocolate, she makes many fine ganaches and truffles.
And unfortunately, the not-​so-​good:
We stopped by here twice while I was visiting Roanoke for the holidays. On the first visit I bought a chocolate-​covered Oreo, which was positively divine. So on our second visit I picked up another – they’re pricey (at $ 2.25 or $ 2.50 each, I forget which), but quality chocolate is worth paying for. So it was with great anticipation that I bit into the chocolate-​enrobed Oreo… but bit instead into a layer of plastic that was between the chocolate and the Oreo itself. I was shocked and made sure it wasn’t just somehow clinging to the outside and if missed it – nope, it was in fact inside the confection itself. (I’ve included a picture of both the unwrapped, perfect-​looking cookie and the plastic later that was such a disappointment.)
The reason I’m not rating her lower (because that is a pretty big mistake when making handcrafted goods like that) is that I know it was just that: a mistake. Everyone makes them, even those who try to turn out a great product every day. So while I may not be as inclined to try the cookies, I would still go back to her store to try something else and support both her hard work and a local business.

I forgot I loved chocolate till we found this place! Chocolate every great way and so so fresh! This week we found gummy bears and the flavors were on point. Get to know this lady she’s on the wine circuit and works many festivals. They had the cutest chocolate bunnies at Easter I can’t wait to see what she does for the holiday. Help out local business’s next time you’re waiting for a table at Café Asia 2 stop in and get a bag of the good stuff!

One-​these are the best chocolates I have ever had. Two-​support your local chocolatier, unlike chocolate paper that buys chocolates from all over.
You won’t be disappointed, unless your box is too small. These unique, elegant, and simple chocolates will wow the tastebuds and have you begging for more.
I recommend the Mayan, Strawberry balsamic, Fluer de Sel, Traditional, lemonade buttercream… In fact you better buy one of every flavor. No, make it two so you can share!

Amazing Chocolate!

Chocolate Heaven has been found! This is the perfect little shop to go in and pick out a few chocolates for yourself or for a gift. The lady in front of me was giving hers as a gift and they wrapped it up with a pretty pink bow, very cute. The sea salted caramels were very yummy and so too were the hazelnut ones. Nice place and will be back!

Baylee’s is absolutely perfect. This sweet old lady makes the BEST truffles I’ve ever had the pleasure to taste. There are so many to choose from, it’s so hard to pick what you want! She makes a great caramel too! I really like the birthday cake truffle. I’ll take 2 of everything please :) Roanokers, you MUST come here, out of towners, you too!

This store has the BEST chocolates around. After traveling in Europe (Scandinavia, Germany, Austria, Switzerland) years ago, I found out how good REAL chocolate can be. Gave up the Hershey bars for good! I buy boxes here for birthdays, anniversaries, etc. The chocolates are reasonably priced & always excellent. Also, it’s great to support a local business.

Great chocolates and variety! Had some shipped to Richmond and they arrived promptly.

Best chocolitier in town! Had her create party favors day of the baby shower and she didn’t let down! Excellent flavors and beautiful designs, everyone just luved the favors! I’ve tried the others, and will be coming back to Baylee’s! :)
