The Puppy Hut

We visit the puppy hut almost every single week, we have NEVER had a problem with the store. People have always been nice, puppies have always been clean and healthy. We plan on buying our net puppy here when we move into our new house.

First off… the people that own puppy hut came from puppy barn 1 & puppy barn2. Puppy barn one used be across the directly across the street. I have purchased a blk cocker spaniel, black cocopoo and a black lab over the years and haven’t had any problems with any of my puppies. The place is clean and they frequently jump in the bins to clean out the feces. I go in frequently to look at what they have and talk to the staff. They have sometimes not been so friendly with others I can admit but that and some puppies can be a lil on the higher side but the majority are priced accordingly. There have been times I have stayed for hours to make sure the puppy I chose don’t affect me or my sons allergies.

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS, OR OTHER PLACES LIKE THIS. Adopt from a shelter.

This place is disgusting. They sell puppies that are sick and dying. You do know that they are being fined $ 76,000 dollars by the state of New Jersey for harming puppies? But everyone wants to turn a blind eye to it.

Although I’ve never personally bought a dog here mainly because I don’t support pet stores/​puppy mills but I know friends who have bought puppies here and had a horrible experiences. They have gotten extremely sick puppies that required lots of veterinary care ($$$$).
The only reason I’m writing this review now is because I came across an article on Princeton Patch saying this particular pet store has 152 VIOLATIONS! 152! Imagine how mistreated the dogs must’ve been to live under such irresponsible store owners…
Please contact your local animal shelter to find your forever friend.

This place buys underage puppies from Ohio puppy mills. The dogs are sick and in bred. Do not buy a dog from here. Go to a reputable breeder! Shut them down.

«Staff has had several discussions throughout the day with New Jersey authorities regarding their requirements for the dogs to enter their state,» stated the email.

Clean looking place. Large pens for the pups. Prices seemed high. Staff incredibly rude to me. I walked out because of it.

I will say this establishment has a wide variety of dogs but what they have in puppies they lack in customer service. All I wanted to do was have my dog meet my potential new dog and they were unwilling to allow that for 30 SECONDS. And on top of that, they were nasty about it. I recommend the puppy palace across the street, they’ll let you have your dogs meet.

We love the puppy hut. It was unimaginably clean and all pups were clean and you could tell they were well taken care of. I got my female lab there last July 2014, and we just celebrated her first birthday. She has brought so much love and happiness into all of our lives, she is funny, goofy and a pure love bug, I can’t imagine not having her. Debbie and her staff were amazing, they were informative, very helpful and honest. After bringing her to my vet for a check up she had a slight issue, nothing major or life threatening all I did was call Debbie explain the issue and she reimbursed me every penny. There were no questions or hesitation for payment she wrote me a check right on the spot. Debbie stands behind her word, the law and behind every puppy she sells. I have a happy, healthy 1 year old that is the love of my life. I still keep in contact with Debbie and send updated photos and I certainly would not hesitate to ever go back.

love this place. we got both of our dogs from them and could not be anymore happy! we got our first little pup from them 3 years ago. unfortinatly a few days after we took him home he had some major medical issues. our vet gave us a not fit for sale letter and suggested we bring the dog back and get a new one. by this time we were already so in love with this little guy and did not want to bring him back! his vet and medicne bills were over $ 600. We called the puppy hut to tell them what had happened and they told us to come back in with proof of bills and they will pay us back for anything up to as much as the price of the dog! We were so happy! they literally wrote us a check and said to please come back if we have any issues. You could tell they cared for the dog just as much as we did. Thankfully our pup got better soon after and is not a perfectly healthy dog! we were so happy with this place that when we were ready to by a second dog we went right back to puppy hut! our second dog was a perfectly healthy, happy dog! now we have to healthy dogs and we could not be more happy! they really were great!

We have gotten 2 dogs from here and have been incredibly satisfied. They were both mixed breeds and such loving dogs and we love them right back. I find the staff friendly and helpful, you can see they really love and take great care of the dogs. So impressed at how they keep the pens so clean! Yes you could go for a rescue or pure bred but if you get a dog here aren’t you basically doing the same thing… rescuing it and giving it a home? You never know what temperment, health issues etc… you will get with ANY dog, rescue, pure bred, pet store-«puppy mill». At least they give a limited warranty and will pay for pet bills if diagnosed with an ailment after purchase! And prices are reasonable as compared to others in the area!

I got my «maltese» there almost three years ago. He is the cutest puppy and quickly became a lovable family member. But he isn’t a maltese, he is a mix breed of maybe a maltese and poodle.

I got my dog Teddy about a year ago from The Puppy Hut. He was my first puppy and they were very helpful giving me all the information and supplies I would need to get started.
I agree with other reviews I have read here, that the staff was less than warm when I first asked to see my current dog outside of his pen. I guess they thought I wasn’t serious (despite being 27 years old and having all intentions of getting a dog that day).
The store is very clean, the puppies are happy, and I would refer a friend there. Teddy has never had a serious health issue due to coming from this store, and I have been told by many vets he is in great health.
I would get a puppy from the Puppy Hut again. The staff clearly cares about the dogs there, and are not misleading about information. I am lucky to have a healthy, happy, wonderful dog!

Very clean. Good variety of puppies. They obviously don’t like the Puppy Palace across the street. Prices are bit high.

Purchased the most adorable daschund from here in July only two months old. Had pneumonia. Many trips to the vet. 1600.00 later puppy is well. Sent all paperwork to the puppy hut. Still waiting on any word or any reimbursement which was a signed agreement and law. It’s now November. Very hard to deal with. Always and excuse. Very nice people but this should have been resolved her fast. Why am I doing all the leg work to get reimbursed? I don’t want to have to contact anyone again. Very frustrating. A lot of money. I’d hesitate getting a puppy here unless it’s checked for health issues first.

Our family fell in love with what we thought was a black Lab/​Retriever about 2 weeks ago. From the day we brought her home we were concerned. She was not eating and would not drink. We took her to the Vet where she needed fluids and had to have blood work done. This is not normal for a new puppy. She was anemic and had low proteins. They had to give her a special high calorie food also as she only weighed 8 pounds. To make things worse, we have been informed that she is younger than we were told and not the breed we were told! When I contacted the owner Debbie she said that means they were lied to by the breeder they got her litter from. The only thing I could do was get a DNA Test. To make a long story short, DO NOT BUY FROM HERE. I have come to find out they get their puppies from Puppy Mills and Back Yard Breeders. Get a dog from a shelter or directly from a breeder. We know this now and will not make the same mistake again.

It is a deceptive practice for pet dealers to sell an animal within the State of New Jersey without providing the consumer with a completed animal history and health certificate. Before learning about the horrors of the puppy mill industry, I purchased a puppy from The Puppy Hut. My «certificate» was missing the following legally-​required information:
— the name and address of the person from whom the pet dealer purchased the animal;
— the breeder’s name and address;
— the name and registration number of the animal’s sire and dam;
— the date the pet dealer took possession of the animal;
— the date the animal was shipped to the pet dealer, where such date is known by the dealer;
— a statement of all vaccinations and inoculations administered to the animal, including the identity and quantity of the vaccine or inoculum administered, the name and address of the person or licensed veterinarian administering the same, and the date of administering the vaccinations and inoculations.
When I attempted to contact the store owners regarding the disparities, they suddenly became nasty and defensive and refused to provide me with any of the information to which I was entitled to receive. A reputable breeder would have had nothing to hide.

I’m a little ambivalent when it comes to writing a review for this place… My boyfriend and I adopted the most wonderful, loving little puppy from The Puppy Hut. She is the first puppy that either of us have owned. The facilities were clean and well– maintained, without the typical smell you would find in a kennel/​place where a large number of animals are kept. The staff was… lukewarm. When I asked if I could see the puppy we ended up adopting, the woman behind the counter gave me a look and inquired if I was actually serious about buying her. Later on, she expressed surprise when she learned that I was over 18 years of age and when I pulled out my credit card, she instantly warmed up to me. However, in my opinion, good customer service should not be delivered based upon the age of the consumer.
Since adopting our puppy, I have learned many things about the puppy mill industry. Any responsible breeder will not just sell his or her puppies to an interested party simply because the person has the money; a good breeder will first check the background of the person to determine whether the puppy will be going to a loving home. (That being said, our puppy has received all of the love and attention and medical care that she deserves).
The Puppy Hut has a 14– day return policy, should there be anything wrong with the dog. The consumer may either receive a full refund from The Puppy Hut, reimbursement for veterinary expenses, or may exchange the puppy for another puppy of equivalent value. Within three days of her adoption, we brought our puppy to the vet and were horrified to find that she had a respiratory infection and an ear infection. Returning her to The Puppy Hut was not even an option in our minds, so we paid the vet bills and nursed her back to health. I am a bit confused as to how these two very serious conditions could have gone undiagnosed, as The Puppy Hut claims to have frequent check– ups with their veterinarian.
Anyway, 1 star for a wonderful puppy but poor customer service.

Extremely helpful in choosing our puppy. The prices were very reasonable compared to other stores. We love our puppy. They did a great job in fitting her to us and maintaining her health. I have maintained communications with us. Thanks.

It’s the type of place where you can’t the touch the puppies. If you touch them, you’ll grow attach to them. And then you’re going to want to take them home. It’s best to keep your distance.
