This is your traditional gift shop on crack. Customer service is king. A Different Point of View caters to women with a bit of spare cash. Be warned, you won’t find a cheap handbag here. Vera is the lowest end that I was able to spot. You could shop for younger ladies, but I’d say the target demographic leans toward upper Gen X /boomers. Lots and lots of selection — wine glasses and accessories, hand lotions, scarves, millions of purses. There is a very small children’s section at one end, and a smaller second floor houses clothes and shoes.(A sign says«more upstairs,» but it would have been more helpful if it had just told me «clothing upstairs,» so I could have skipped it altogether.) But the service at this shop! Divine. Plenty of salespeople, and none of them pushy, even when we were practically the only ones there a little before close on a Monday night. When I asked for assistance finding a specific Vera bag, the salesperson immediately headed the computer to look it up. «They’ve actually stopped making that one,» she said. After I declined her offer to show me some similar things, she added: «If your heart is set on that bag, you can probably call over to the Vera store or find it online somewhere. But thanks for stopping in – and grab a cookie for the road!» A shop that helps me find what I need even if they won’t be the ones to sell it to me? Now that’s a different retail experience … and one worth returning to.

This, literally, is one of my mother’s favorite stores. She can wander around here for hours. I take her here whenever she comes to town for a visit. Not much here for a guy to do. I guess while I wait for her I *could* go in the back room and count the Tervis Tumblers. All kidding aside… it;s a lovely store!
