The food was pretty good — ordered gyros and spinach pie. Service was friendly. They have some promotions: spend $ 25 and get $ 5 off.

This place has gone from mediocre to really bad. The past two times I have ordered from them their hummus was extremely wattery. Today I had spanikopita and it looked and tasted days old and had a microwaved aftertaste. The only thing they have going for them is their pita bread is fantastic IMO and usually everyone that works there is pretty friendly.

I don’t even know what to say, I came here alone and to be honest I don’t think I’d ever bring someone here. Came because I had a coupon and they treated me like someone who was paying their entire check in pennies. Food was okay, beef souvlaki had huge inedible chunks. The seating was pretty scarce, and not an incredibly comfortable interior. I would definitely head to aladdins or Sinbads instead.

Food was fantastic, portions large. Service was great, especially appreciate the heads up call to let me know my scheduled take out would be ready when promised. Will go here again.

I can only review their soup and so I shall. Regardless if I’ve just eaten a meal elsewhere in the night, if I’m in the vicinity I stop in for the lemon chicken rice soup. You must try it!

Delicious! Ordered take out and it was ready in 10 minutes. I would highly recommend the fire fetta dip served with warm pita. Will be coming back!

Ordered through grubhub this evening and I am completely disappointed. The restaurant is only 3 minutes away and when I received my food it was cold. I ordered the roasted veggie, pesto & goat cheese panini which wasn’t a panini at all but rather a soggy hoagie roll filled with indiscernible mush. It’s wasn’t even pressed! The Greek chicken salad was edible at best and missing the dressing I selected. Instead the salad was packed with the 2 sides of tzatziki I purchased. The trio of dips were for lack of a better word gringo and all the pita packed with my order was bland, cold and soggy. Needless to say I will never consider eating from this establishment again and I don’t recommend it unless you’re completely void of tastebuds.

Fantastic Greek food in Rochester. The prices are very reasonable, and you get a ton of food. I’ve been multiple times and have never had a bad experience. Their salad dressings are delicious and they definitely make them there. The meat is always tender and well seasoned, never overcooked. Their tzatziki is some of the best I’ve had!

Ok… Olé boy was jonzing for a Gyro. So we came here. It’s a cute little place, they have a little table outside to sit as well. Service is pretty good and when we ordered(to go) she told us about the«Special» for $ 5.45 for the Gyros and a drink. Ok. So we ordered that and a side of fries. The fries were $ 3.29 oh if we wanted extra Tzatziki sauce it would have been an extra $ 1.29?! Really, seriously? I use to get it for .50 cents back in Chicago… Ok… Basically the Gyro was ok, I liked the romaine lettuce, fresh tomatoes but the white onions were a mess. They should have been sliced, like shredded it was cut in these haphazard chunks?! Ok. The pita bread was soft but it would have been nice if it was toasted a bit more. I was looking for the Tzatziki it was good but could you have hooked a sista up with just a little bit more?! The meat was ok. Sorry it was just ok. I guess as a special you get what you pay for. Than the fries. Gee for $ 3.29 I could have gotten HOTASSFRIES for less and a LARGEASSONEATMCDONALDS! NOJOKE! it was dinner, maybe if we stayed and got a dinner portion who knows… But it was ok at best… Sorry not to constantly say this but In Chicago they don’t play with the Gyros you get sauce & everything and it’s luscious. This was ok. Maybe we should have gotten take out from the BBQ place next door. Well we’ll do that on another day. Will I/we be back?! That’s a marginal«maybe» at best… Do better… If you all know of a better place hook me up. I’ll take you for lunch!

We ordered a Athenian gyro, pork souvlaki, and hummus for delivery. Both of the gyros had meat chunks so large that they were difficult to eat, and while the gyro meat was tasty, the pork was inedibly dry. The pita itself was great, and I would probably order the Athenian gyro again if I ever went back – the feta really makes it great! What I would absolutely not order again is the hummus. While it was clearly fresh, it was also was watery, chunky, and bland. We added salt, garlic, and lemon juice and it was a little more appetizing, but I shouldn’t have to remake my own hummus from a Mediterranean restaurant. I’ve made better hummus myself on multiple occasions. Because of this, I’ll probably stick with Aladdin’s or Sinbad’s from now on.

There are a lot of good looking rear ends in the state of Iowa(it must be all the corn that they’re being fed), so I’d love to go on an «Ass Tour IA», but alas I don’t think that will be happening anytime soon. I will be going there for a music tour though, so that’s nearly as good. What to get: not sure yet… the Gyro is good but fake. What else: I’ll let you know when I try it. Good customer service, best«Gyro Pita Bread» in the region, great prices if they have the«Gyro and drink deal» but the Gyro is fake and so there’s no way I can give it 5 stars based on the Gyro, which is all I’ve had. I really wanted to love this Gyro, but I can’t pretend that it rocked my world because there was one key problem. The salad was okay, the yogurt sauce was good, and the pita bread was spectacular and out of this world(and reminded me of Mike & Tony’s in Pitt), but alas, the meat. It wasn’t awful. It was big and juicy. But(a) there wasn’t enough of it, and worse,(b) it was the pre-frozen kind, not the kind that you slice off the large rotating spit. I am not into the pre-frozen kind because it all tastes very bland and identical. When you slice it off the spit, it has a much better flavour. Ah well. But full marks for the pita, which had that perfect hot doughy charred taste that I love Gyros to have. Also the price($ 5 for Gyro plus drink) is amazing, although it’s a temporary special. I’ll have to go back here sometime and give some of the other food a try, perhaps the Souvlaki, because if it’s good and delicious then I could easily give a 5 to Astoria. I won’t be able to have the Gyro again though because the pre-frozen slices just don’t do it for me. I find it to be akin to the«McDonalds of Gyros.» A lot of the places in Buffalo do it that way too, but Gyro Mania in Rochester do it right, so I’m always looking out for other places that do. And by the way watch out for my dog. He likes to bite people’s butts. They call him the«Ass Terrier.»

Picked up food as first time customers. Ordered the eggplant gyro and they forgot the eggplant in it. Also had the original gyro and the meat tasted processed and the tzatiki was the worst I have ever tasted. Couldn’t even finish it.

I keep ordering from there to give a chance for change but I don’t find it. Delivery fee is too high, and why if I’m paying that much for delivery is it cold half the time? The food itself is decent but I’d rather pick up Greek from somewhere else than wait an hour an a half for cold delivery.

Got delivery from this place the other day. The delivery is $ 5 and takes a very long time. I do not recommend it. However, we were told our driver was running late – it was snowing(understandable). The food took forever, which initially frustrated me, and we even called the place a couple times. This is why I took one star off. And each time we did, we received fantastic customer service. When the driver finally arrived, he was so nice. And guess what? Our food was hot! Not warm – hot! We got fantastic portions(worth the price), and food was delicious! My favorite was the Baba Ghanoush(sp?) I’m looking forward to dining there next time.

My favorite Greek take out place on Monroe. Love their gyro dinner with the sautéed potatoes or the pilaf. The gyro is usually tender and melts in your mouth. The pita is nice, warm and fluffy. The moussaka is pretty good too. I like a no frills Greek place that just wants to make money with good food.

I love Greek food and am in no way picky about it! I’ve only been here once and it was A-Ok. Nothing was terrible, but nothing was mind blowing. My boyfriend and I ordered a chicken special over rice, and a veggie sampler. The spanakopita«wasn’t ready yet»(at 6 pm?) so they subbed in 2 tablespoons of baba ganoush… served in a plastic dressing cup. The baba was delicious, but falafels were small and dry. Our bill came to $ 30+, with no drinks or leftovers. With Aladdin’s across the street it will be hard to justify stopping in here again.

Being married to a native Greek(which includes my new Greek family) has made me appreciate great Greek food! Having a MIL and many Thea’s and Theo’s who make delicious homemade Greek food, has set the bar high. Astoria definitely is up there with the best of the best! To start, fire feta. O.M.G. A delicious, semi-spicy creamy dip served with warm pita… divine! Their pita(spanakopita) is also delicious, similar to that of my mother in laws’s(straight from Greece!) so delightful! My entrée of choice, the Village Gyro… phenomenal gyro(euro) meat, seasoned to perfection, tasty tzatziki, onions and FRENCHFRIES!!! I hold off on tomatoes, personal preference, but this gyro is just delicious. If you can appreciate REAL Greek food, you will adore this place. It is small inside, we generally do take out, but the 3 times we have dined in have been exceptional, no complaints!

Over the past few years, Astoria has really changed. Upon entering, everything still looks the same, but I’m sad to see that this little gem has taken a hit. At one time, I loved this place because the food was phenomenal and really contended with Aladdin’s across the street. Now, on a friday evening, the place was completely empty and here’s the reason why: –Previously there was one main chef who cooked excellent food, but he has long since gone. The standard of cooking has fallen by the way-side due to different cooks each time. –No Quality Check– if ordering take out they have almost always missed something on my order, be certain to double check everything before leaving. Also when dining there last night, I asked for rice pilaf and got a mushy«rice — like» substance. They had to know that I wasn’t going to eat that before putting it on my plate. –BBQ expansion on the other side has employees running back and forth grabbing various supplies(it appears a little unorganized) and during the winter months lets in cold bursts of air while diners are present. My husband still loves their Philly, but it is ironically not Greek. Even with the afore mentioned, I would still venture back on the random occasion with fingers crossed.

Astoria was a gradual let down for me. I happened to sample a friend’s leftover gyro and lemon potatoes from Astoria and was initially blown away by how good it was. My friend also mentioned she got a tonne of food for $ 11. So, the next day, I got lunch from there. The lemon potatoes weren’t ready so I got rice pilaf and the salad as my sides. The gyro was pretty good that time but a lot less than what my friend got. The salad was(and continues to be) the most consistent side — it has cucumbers, romaine/iceberg, roasted peppers, olives, white onion and feta. The rice was average(can’t remember much about it). The next 3 – 4 times I got takeout showed that the lemon potatoes have multiple personalities. On one takeout order, the lemon potatoes tasted like they made out with the ocean. So incredibly salty — I could only eat a few bites. I got the lemon potatoes again today and they were bland. The gyro was also unpredictable — you could end up with long wedges with no crispy grilled edges or completely well done. On my visit today, I requested they chop it up and make it crispy. I guess it is my fault for requesting it be chopped but they basically diced it really small but it had a little bit more of the grilled flavour. The salad was also a little wilted on today’s order. Another friend ordered the Chicken Greek Salad and it was 1 dolmade, a little chicken, a few roasted red peppers, some feta and a lot of lettuce for $ 12. Overall, the wild inconsistency in quality and preparation style makes me hesitant to order from them again. Also, they included a carryout charge of $ 1. What’s up with that? It is not a significant amount of money but I have never heard of being charged extra for takeout. It seems rather strange. However, we do not have anything directly comparable to Astoria in the area(Aladdin’s is more Lebanese than Greek) so I am rounding up my intended 2.5 stars to 3. I would consider coming back to try the calamari pita with a side other than lemon potatoes(it hurt to type that). The prices are a little excessive for what you get. At least the service is always friendly, the Greek vinaigrette is always assertive and the pita is always warm.
