Clarion Inn

I really surprised by the glowing reviews. This place is 3 old motels managed by Clarion. The building is old old old and run down. Hallways were stinking like mold and smoke. Room was just ok. Remote didn’t work– and no answered at the desk when I called about it. Curtains were torn and there was no way to control heat. People– spend $ 20 more and stay somewhere else.

I’ll start with the good news: the employees were nice. But, really, everyone in Rochester is nice.
Now the bad news: everything else.
Pulling my suitcase from the front desk to my room, I passed through two sets of closed manual doors, down a curb, across a rough driveway, up a curb, down a significant flight of outside concrete steps, through a closed manual door, up a flight of steps, and down a hall to my room. The barriers for the handicapped and elderly was akin to a less developed country and not what you would expect to find a stone’s throw from the Mayo Clinic.
Tired furniture occupied my room. A loud mini fridge and an intermittent buzzing from the ceiling filled the voids. Wall outlets were scarce and, all but the one by the bathroom sink, were hidden behind furniture. A faint Wi-​Fi signal barely entered the room.
The next morning I made my way to the office to switch rooms and take advantage of the one complimentary «deluxe continental breakfast» coupon I was issued as part of my week-​long reservation. By «deluxe» they must have meant weak and disappointing. The fruit (muskmelon & cantaloupe) was hard and flavorless. The scrambled eggs spent more time as powder in a bag than they ever did as eggs. The hashbrowns were limp and soggy. The ketchup was portioned in serving cups and was ripe like a McDonald’s garbage can. The sausage came in patty form – need I say more?
Ripped screens, broken windows, stained curtains, deteriorating concrete sidewalks, a rough parking lot, and wafts of cigarettes smoke from guests keeping their rooms smoke free gave my new neighborhood an urban vibe.
Inside my new room was much the same as my first room: dated, rough, and short on wall outlets. Fortunately this room was quieter and had good Wi-​Fi coverage.

The motel is well-​worn and antiquated. There are practically no available electrical receptacles for plugging in anything. The room and exterior areas are dark and depressing. There are cracks in the exterior steps and walks. The parking lot is rough asphalt, with people and families hanging out in their cars, like they are waiting for something. There is no usable WiFi; it is not possible to connect to the Internet. This issue was reported to the manager who said he would check into it, but never did. There is nothing here that looks new and cheerful. This place is really beginning to look like a dump. There are much better choices in this area.

This place is a piece of crap. It looks like a dumpster inside. There was a hole in the wall. There is rust in the pool, hot tub, and shower. It smelt like smoke, and BO. There was no screen on the window which is a safety hazard. The bed spread had blood all over it and they looked they hadn’t been washed in forever. I literally left the «hotel» because it was so disgusting and gross. I went to the one across the street called the Wyndham. It is WAY nicer quality and is caring for your needs. The clarion inn shouldn’t even have a star it’s sucks and I will never be going there EVER AGAIN.

This hotel was a very nice place for me to stay for the price they offer. It’s about 1.4 miles from the Mayo clinic but they do have a shuttle that will provide you transportation for free. They’ve got wifi, fridge, microwave, it’s really decent the only issue I had was opening the door that leads to the rooms for some reason the card key wasn’t working but the ladies at the front counter were more than happy to assist me and help me out.

Clean, nice amenities (fridge, microwave, coffee maker, blow dryer), free deluxe continental breakfast, really enjoyed my stay and will be back!!!
