History

Established in 1978.

My father, George F. Wiedemer started the store in April, 1978.

It was called Gourmet Gallery. In 1981, Alfred Larter joined the store, and renamed it Cooks World. Al built the store with a strong local and loyal following. Chris Wiedemer purchased the store in 1994, first putting the store online for shoppers, then purchasing and renovating the store, capturing the intimate look and feel of the original building.

Chris Wiedemer, born and raised in Gates, NY, graduated from Aquinas Institute, and then the University of Dayton. Following a 15 years sales career in coporate travel management, Chris, who purchased the store in 1994, resides in Fairport, NY with his wife Patti, and son Quinn.
