History
Established in 1980.
To appreciate Craft Company No. 6, you must first know its history. The building was originally Engine Company No. 6 of the Rochester Fire Department. Using horse-drawn steam engines, this firehouse was important during the «Era of the Horses» from 1886 to 1921.
The firehouse was eventually decommissioned and without use, fell into disrepair during the middle of the 20th century.
It was in 1980 that with much work and interior redesign, Lynn Allinger and Gary Stam would found and own Craft Company No. 6, a beautiful craft gallery of fine art with works handmade 100% in the USA and Canada. The couple would go on to hire a permanent staff with extra seasonal hires during the holidays, with CC6 becoming a staple of shopping in Downtown Rochester. With the sale of the business on February 1, 2014 to Kathleen Verzillo, Craft Company No. 6 continues on.
