As common as they are, hipster coffee shops never get old. The cement floors, black ceiling, metal chairs and old-​timey photos all combined give the place it’s own unique vibe.
If you’re driving there, you can park in the small lot right next to it, but don’t park in any of the other lots (including the one across the street… the other businesses don’t like it and you might get towed). Parking on Park Ave is less than a 100 meter walk so that’s what I tend to do.
They have a small menu, with a few different caffeinated drinks and a handful of food options. Their coffee is delicious but definitely overpriced for the size that you get. I’ve never had their food but it always looks delicious and is served on cool wooden plates.
It’s also a good place to get some work done since there aren’t usually large groups making lots of noise. There’s one couch that you can sit on but most likely you’ll end up sitting at a table. Unfortunately if you get stuck at one of the middle tables you won’t be able to plug in a laptop but there are a bunch of tables around the outside… and a little hint I overheard from an apparent regular: there are outlets under the long bench that you can’t see, but if you bend over you’ll see them and can plug your electronics in.
All in all it’s a cool place to grab a coffee and get some work done, but I wouldn’t go there regularly because I’d go broke.

It’s a really comforting feeling when you walk in the door. The service was great and it feels like everyone is at ease and relax. The coffee was really good and had a lot of flavors. To top it off there were cool designs that were created on top of the coffee

The place
I really love what they did in the place. It has a clean, bright modern look to it. Whoever made the chalk board menus has some serious talent. Seems like a great place to go and get some work done or just chill with a few friends and enjoy a coffee.
The coffee
Yes the coffee what can I say besides I wish I could visit this place daily. This is my first time with Verve coffee and now I am online about to order some for my own house. My wife and I both ordered a Vanilla bean lattes and I can honestly say this was one of the best latte’s I have ever had. First of the barista explained to us how they caramelize pure can sugar then scrape vanilla beans into it. Talk about high quality!!! Most places use syrups and sauces they buy in a bottle in their latte’s not these guys. I loved the flavor it was a perfect blend of a great espresso, milk and the faint but distant taste of vanilla. My wife was equally impressed as I was. I cant wait to come back to Rochester to try this place again.
The staff
I was equally impressed with the staff they were so friendly and patient with me. I admit I am a hard customer at a coffee shop I always ask the barista what they recommend. She was a huge help and went overboard to ask what kind of coffee I liked to figure out what I might like.
The verdict
I really love everything about this place including the hipster vibe. My only complain and would end up giving this place a 4.5 if I could was the price. The latte was 5 bucks for a 10 ounce which is pretty pricey! I know it was high quality but that still is high. The only other complaint would is a loyalty program. I don’t live in the area but most any coffee shop I have been to has one. Example you buy 10 or 12 drinks you get one free. If they have one I saw nothing showing it nor did she mention any thing about it. Even so I would come back I just would be hesitant to come as often at that price point.

I stopped in on a Thursday morning, hellbent on enjoying a breakfast sandwich. Mission: accomplished. Like another reviewer said, I like that the building itself is set back from Park Ave. lends itself to some peace from the road. It was busier than I expected, but all but one table occupied. I sat at the counter near the taps. I had a cold brew coffee and the Lumber Jill sandwich. It took a decent amount of time for my sandwich to come out, but it was pretty good. Not everything I was hoping for, but a decent portion of eggs, sausage and cheese on nicely toasted sourdough. The staff was friendly and attentive and it was a nice stop to get some reading in. I would say it was a little pricier than I would normally spend but it was a nice morning.

Delicious new coffee and breakfast option in Rochester! I went twice during my last visit and experienced a fantastic lavender cardamom latte and two tasty breakfast sandwiches.
The back patio is great on a sunny day and is dog-​friendly. Not so great on a rainy day (my second visit).
Go for the sandwiches stuffed full of veggies rather than the more traditional varieties. Would also skip the burrito (needed some sauce action).

We stopped at Glen Edith to get ahold of some Scratch bakeshop cupcakes and also ordered some nitro cold brew while we were there. A cupcake, donut and two nitro coffees cost us $ 20 which would have been a lot more reasonable if the coffees were an adult-​sized portion. I’m not expecting any McDonald’s mega coffee here and I know that cold brew is much more concentrated than traditional ice coffee, but this was definitely less than 12 oz of drink, which made me feel shortchanged since I was charged around $ 4 for it. I can get an equal quality nitro at the Allegheny Coffee and Tea Exchange at home for a comparable price, but get twice the amount of beverage.

Their cold brew on tap may be one of the best I’ve had any where. Found myself there 3 times last week. Their breakfast burritos and waffles are pretty solid as well especially for a coffee shop.
Wish parking was easier but I’m willing to walk if necessary.
SOFT 4 you will be seeing a lot of me this summer

I ordered a cappuccino. It was very delicious and had a cute heart in it. For the price you pay you get very little, but the quality is very good. The food people had looked pretty good, I will have to try it out next time.

A very cozy spot if you’re here with company or want some quality time for yourself. I got the mocha kick latte which was delightful and the interior design looked a lot like what you see on the infamous Instagram. Will be coming back again

I’m going to be outright and just say it– if you want an Instagram-​worthy photo of a latte, this is the place to go. The wooden tables, the latte art, the flowers they place on the tables, and the natural lighting allow for it to be pretty picturesque. Oh and I can’t forget the blue wall!
Lots of people don’t get the point of taking photos of your food/​coffee, so you may get some rude stares from people. It’s fine. Don’t let the haters stop you from doing your thang. The coffee parlor itself has an Instagram filled with photos of their coffee, so you know they won’t judge.
Anyways, as for the actual lattes, they are really good. Good temperature, good milk to espresso ratio, good latte art. The latte art always comes out pretty. I have not tried the food. With the abundance of lunch options on Park Ave, it’s hard to want to buy a sandwich from a coffee place.
While an Instagram photo isn’t justification for a visit to a coffee shop (if it is, I won’t judge), the relaxed, calming atmosphere is. It’s nice place to chat and catch up with friends.

I love this place. This was the first cup of coffee that I could have drank without any cream or sugar. I really enjoyed the atmosphere. The first time I was there I had one of the sandwiches and it was very good as well.
I would recommend trying it out. You might want to buy one of the coffee pour over devices once you do. Just a warning.

This is my favorite café in all of Rochester. It’s a great place to get coffee and a sweet pastry.
The coffee is really good quality both the kind they make, and the kind they sell for you to make. I’ve tried a plain cappuccino to the seasonal lattes and the cold brew. It’s all really good. I especially love the fact that the seasonal lattes aren’t the kinds of drinks you can get anywhere. I loved the autumn latte with maple and spices, the herbal latte, it’s all really good.
The inside is pretty big, it’s not hard to get a spot to sit. The bathroom, I think, is the nicest bathroom I’ve ever been in that isn’t my own or someone else’s personal bathroom. Ok, maybe I’m exaggerating, but it’s really clean, spacious and nice.
I really don’t have complaints or even anything to hem or haw at. It’s a solid café and easily my favorite in all of Rochester.

Unapologetically hipster, with rustic wood tables, industrial lighting, and cold metal chairs. The bearded men and lovely tattooed gals behind the bar are as cliché as they are friendly. That is to say, very. Drinks are delicious and you won’t feel lame for getting a frilly milkshake over a tiny cup of strong espresso, though both are equally enjoyable.
The food offerings are limited but well done. Possibly the best waffle I’ve ever had and it was quick! Maybe it’s a frozen toaster waffle (totally not a frozen toaster waffle). I’m obviously not a waffle expert, but it’s a good waffle, and it comes with warm syrup. WARM. The breakfast sandwiches are hearty, and the pastries are, well, pastries so of course they’re good. Prepared food is served to your seat on a wood board, of course, but you have to be wearing plaid or have a beard for this service (not really).
Ok, so I find the place a bit over the top with the trendiness of it all. And I love it so much! But only because the people are wonderful, with smiles and acceptance to even the uncoolest mom with frazzled hair. (There are a couple of high chairs because they understand those of us that need high chairs also the most in need of caffeine.)

I’m not a coffee drinker but I brought guests from out of town here and they loved it. I come here for the waffles and pretty latte art.

I had high hopes for Pour after reading so many positive reviews, but I have to say I was underwhelmed. I can see what they’re trying to do here — the hipster vibe is very cool. The rustic tables, exposed lightbulbs and antique paintings on the walls really pull the whole feel of the place together. The bar area is hip with its subway tiles and metal stools. The atmosphere does unfortunately translate as a bit cold, however. It would be nice if there were more comfy chairs or even just some warm colors brought into the room. The stark white color of the walls mixed with all the metal and masculine artwork comes off a bit sterile. I can’t really see myself wanting to hang out here all day to do work.
I also find it necessary to make a point about the cleanliness of the coffeeshop. I understand that Pour is going for a hipster vibe, but I was a bit grossed out by all the dirt on the exposed cement floors, especially in the corners of the room. A deep cleaning would do this place good.
I decided to try the Nitro coffee here after experiencing a great cup of Nitro down in Pittsburgh. I wanted to see how the Nitro scene was faring in Rochester. I regret to say that it didn’t live up to my hopes. One of the things I love about Nitro coffee is that it tends to taste less acidic than regular coffee due to the levels of Nitrogen infused into the cold brew. This particular cup of Nitro at Pour was very bitter and very acidic. I almost flinched after I took my first sip because I was expecting the smoother taste of Nitro that I am used to.
I think Pour has a trendy idea for a coffeeshop going for them, but it didn’t translate well for me at my first visit there. I’m looking forward to returning and giving it a second chance at a later date.

I’d say this is closer to a 3.5 but I’m rounding up.
Their lot has about 7 spots. There are neighboring lots with tow away warnings (I wasn’t sure if Pour Coffee customers were allowed to park there). I ended up getting a spot in their lot after a second pass by so it wasn’t an issue.
The barista was very friendly and helpful. I ordered a hot chocolate (a lot of the time you get milk with hershey’s syrup in it heated up, but that wasn’t the case here. Whatever chocolate they used was delicious and they added cinnamon) and a Lumber Jack (peppers, onion, fried egg, bacon, pepperjack on sour dough) which was also very good.
I sat down while they prepared my food and did some work. I was little bothered that I couldn’t connect to either of their two wifi options. I had my company’s MiFi on me so I used that instead but I gave the shop’s internet a good two minutes to try to connect before I resorted to that. This would be a pretty big issue though if you didn’t have a backup (other people were having issues as well, someone was using their iPhone as a hotspot).
The drink was out in a few minutes, the food a few minutes after that. It wasn’t too noisy. The music was quiet enough that I could still work without issue. If I lived in the area I’d give it another shot.

A rainy Friday night, and I thought Pour would be much busier than it was. To my pleasant surprise it was nice and quiet, the perfect setting for a little studying.
Actually, my entire visit was a pleasant surprise. Gone for the entire summer, I had yet to make it over here, and upon arriving I told the barista it was my first visit. She was pleasant, and introduced herself. Joy was great! I asked for a recommendation, and based on the fact that I typically like a caramel latte, she suggested the Vanilla Bean Latte. Sure why not!
She said she’d bring it over, I paid, and went to find a spot in the back corner to study. Shortly, Joy brought my drink to the table, and it had a lovely latte art design. It’s been a long time since I’d had a latte that was so artistic! Kudos to Joy. Even more impressive was the bear design she did for a friend who arrived later (who was also their for the first time). It was a lot of fun. And of course the latte was tasty.
So, I think it begs to be said you should pay careful attention to signs. It was a dark rainy night, and I didn’t see the sign that says don’t part across the street. When I had a sort of nervous feeling (after having parked across the street), I asked Joy, and she was like, YEAH — go move it now if it’s still there. Luckily it was, and there was a spot in their lot. PHEW! Is this the point where we shout «NEWB» and laugh? Maybe. But the staff at Pour was great — I’m sure they hear this all time time. At least I know for my next visit. And I was told we can park in the lot of the Talmudic school on the other side of the forbidden parking lot.
The crowd is a little bit hipster. I didn’t quite fit the crowd, but at the same time, I didn’t feel out of place. I think that is an amazing feat. That you can have a place that attracts a certain crowd, but is welcoming others. I love it in here. I love the simple, low light ambiance. The tables and bench seating with metal chairs are a great pairing. Rustic yet modern. It works really well.
A great first experience here at Pour. I will definitely be back.

You have to be in precisely the right mood to be up for a Pour (poor?) experience. Every time I go, I am always underwhelmed. I understand that the pour-​over coffee takes time, but when I’m waiting 20 minutes for a latte, it feels a little absurd. I ordered their Aussie milkshake once on a slow Saturday afternoon and it took 25 minutes to arrive at my table. When it got there, it was half melted. Everyone raves about their waffles, but I found them to be a bit dry and not particularly flavorful.
I do enjoy their lavender cardamom latte, I’ll admit it. And I like all the light in the coffee shop. Natural light is great. But 9 times out of 10 I’ll pick another coffee shop over Pour, just because I can get a similar quality drink much quicker and in a less pretentious atmosphere.

Great coffee, good food, friendly people. What more could I ask for?
I had a large cappuccino and enjoyed every drop. The price was pretty standard, at least compared to national prices. Props for having alternatives to milk without added sugar, including plain almond milk.
There is a nice variety of seating, reasonably priced and fresh-​made sandwiches, tasty waffles, and a great ambiance. Two people, two espresso based drinks, and the waffles plus sandwich were under $ 22 before tip.
Stop by for lunch or breakfast and enjoy the buzz from both the coffee and the crowd. Though busy, it wasn’t too loud, so it’s still a great place for conversation and reading, or in my case to fuel up for a long drive to Pittsburgh.

Finally visited Pour after numerous recommendations from friends and coffee lovers. After getting some first impressions from social media that made me a little apprehensive about stopping in, some thoughts crossed my mind.
I wondered if this was going to be another pretentious coffee place filled with the new hipsters and man-​buns (or whatever name they don’t go by) who could be in an episode of Portlandia. I decided an in person visit was necessary to really make an accurate appraisal of this establishment.
While Pour does come off a little pretentious at first blush to a non-​coffee expert like myself, I quickly let my guard down as a friendly employee welcomed me and introduced himself after finding out it was my first visit. Good start to a real first impression.
I ordered waffles and a cold brew nitro coffee for a late breakfast. It is certainly not the cheapest place, but both items were very good and justified the cost. The waffles hit the spot and the cold brew coffee had a creamier taste (think Guinness beer) with slight carbonation. Definitely a different take on coffee for the better.
Overall, this place lives up to the hype. The staff was refreshingly friendly, the atmosphere is tastefully designed, and the food is good. What else should a coffee shop be?
