Always have had great bread from here. Warm, flavorful, and fresh every time. The cookies are big and tasty. I’m sure their other pastries and pies are great, just haven’t tried any. The place to go for real, fresh bread in Irondequoit.

I’ve lived in Rochester all my life. I’m 47 yrs. old and remember when I was growing up my father and I used to go to J & D bakery to buy french bread for Sunday sauce. We would get 2 loafs. One for home and he other to eat in the car on the way home. The bread was always so hot and delicious you didn’t even need butter. No surprise I still go there with my kids and we make sure to always get 2 loafs of french bread. One for home and the other to eat on the way home.

Best bakery in Rochester, hands down. The cannolis are amazing. Brother flew in from Seattle and it was the first thing we picked up on our way to our parents. Definitely check them out.

Really like this place, the store front is simple and small, but I assume that’s because they put all their effort into baking delicious stuff. The rolls are amazingly soft, and very tasty, however they pale in comparison to the garlic bread. My son loves the cookies(granted he’s 3). The pies are the only weak point, the Boston cream was excellent, however we got a cherry pie that was just ok. They have a French bread pizza I really want to try, but it is rarely there. The prices are great, and every thing has been good. They may not have best selection, but a great place I visit often.

A true bakery, this little house is home to a selection of sweets but also practical breads. I was hoping to find a local bakery offering fresh dinner rolls and such, this place fits the bill. Today I picked up half a dozen hamburger rolls, though they were called something else. I simply asked for bread suitable to use as buns for sandwiches and such, this is what I was given. For $ 1.50. Yes, one dollar and fifty cents. Maybe it’s my altered expectations from a life of supermarkets, but that was so amazingly cheap I was almost worried about the quality. Fear not, for I am here to tell you I would eat these things without anything on them, they were amazing. Soft, sweet but subtle so that they didn’t alter the meal(which happened to be Mahi-mahi burgers with an avocado relish spread). We were planning on toasting them but it would have been a shame to crisp the gentle texture of the smooth, plain top and fluffy insides. I cannot wait to return for more. As I said before, this is a true bakery. There are pies and cakes and cannolis and breakfast pastries. I’m a sucker for … well, anything tasty, and so of course I also picked up a Boston crème pie($ 8.50). With the pie, I received proper handling tips. Apparently, this delicacy is best enjoyed at room temperature. I was instructed to set the pie out 30 minutes before serving, and advised to keep it out no longer than 3 hours. I was also told the rolls would keep well in the fridge or even freezer. Maybe you know these things, and I would have guessed about the rolls, but having a knowledgable baker give me tips on how to eat his products made me happy to patronize and even more likely to return even if the products weren’t as amazing as they turned out to be. His willingness to spend the 5 minutes it took to talk about pie left me feeling like he actually enjoyed his job. People that enjoy their jobs usually do their jobs well. A baker that enjoys baking is probably amazing. This feeling was initially unfounded, but now has been proven accurate. Or maybe that guy was just the afternoon clerk and doesn’t know flour from freesia. Regardless of his true occupation, the pie was spectacular. Moist and rich, indulgent but not overwhelming. I’m actually on my second piece as I type… don’t judge.

Best French bread in town. Their Italian and French breads are made with the same dough. I use it for making sandwiches… it makes for a good Cuban. I prefer to get a loaf of bread later in the day as they sit in the baking pans longer and have a better crunch to them. The day olds are good for garlic bread and toast.

I stopped at this place recently and was pleased. It has an old school feel inside which i like, and the prices were as good as it gets. They have been around for a long time, so it’s worth checking out.
