Joe is the best bartender in town and extremely friendly to everyone, hands down !!! The food is excellent, perfect for all the beers they have! The customers are fun and interesting to meet. The atmosphere is very charming ! Keep up the great work guys

Crowded of course on the weekend but a nice bar with nice drinks and music. Only so many places to go to on the weekend. This was my first time actually hanging around in here and I forgot how cheap drinks were back home! Which got me into troublr, but hey good times!

Oh Murphy’s. A staple of the East and Alex neighborhood, especially in the summer when you get to see some of Rochester’s most dedicated fake n’ bakers, and Axe users. I stopped in here for a mild Happy Hour with work last week, and it was before anything was going on, so it was great. They have half priced appetizers during happy hour including wings, potato skins, and pretzels with dipping sauces. The bartender who was taking care of us was very nice. She was able to whip up a tequila concoction for me(rough week) for $ 6.50. She also compensated one of my colleagues with a double instead of a single because we had to wait a little for her to take care of a group. They host Geeks Who Drink Trivia, and karaōke nights. It gets a little douchetastic on the weekends at night. To many bros and dorito girls for my liking. So agreeing with previous reviews: pop in for a drink or a snack before you go to dinner, to kill some time, or for a happy hour.

Not bad bar food, however it is always busy with college students and drunk individuals. They have some tables to sit, however you must show up up early if you’d like to utilize those. Drinks aren’t too bad, but they are pricy. I ordered a Long Iced Tea and they gave me straight tequila and some Coke. There is usually a long line out the door and if the weather is freezing, it’s not worth waiting in line. Overall, it’s a good bar for people who are looking to bring someone home or for college kids to hang out.

Heard this was a good place to watch football. Sat at bar and asked the bar dude if he could put the Redskins game on in front of me. There were literally 15 people in the bar. He said«no, that’s for the Bills game». Later, the nice bartender,(a different girl) put the game on for me. That guy was pretty rude. I probably won’t go back. Not a warm cuddly feeling, unless, I suppose you’re a Bills fan.

Friday night, 8pm, I’ve been standing at the bar for literally 10 minutes and it’s not busy ATALL, still haven’t been contacted or looked at. The beer my husband managed to grab from one snobby bartender ended up being incredibly flat.

It’s great as far as sports bars go. There are TVs on pretty much every side of the bar and you can request a channel from the bartenders which will happily put something on for you. A negative is they do play music while watching games, so it’s sometimes a little hard not to get distracted from the game you were watching. I suppose that’s good for everyone that doesn’t want to be watching sports, but I would prefer to listen to the commentary. Another feature that’s awesome during the summer– the massive windows. It’s makes the inside bar feel like you’re still enjoying the patio outdoors. Their food is not the greatest. Think typical bar food but just a little bit worse. It seems everything they send out is a tiny bit soggy– their nachos, their fries, their wings. It’s okay once you’ve had a few drinks, but you probably wouldn’t think it’s that great sober. I had their Craic fries– that I actually enjoyed with the ranch dipping sauce, but it definitely wouldn’t be my first choice of lunch/dinner.

This place is completely different depending on when you come in. During the week, it is chill, they have trivia, and the bar good is surprisingly good. However, if you come here in the weekend and are over the age of 25, it is horrendous. The line is around the corner and the entire floor is sticky. So, overall, come here for a week night drink and avoid it at all costs on the weekend.

Thought we’d give this place a try on a Saturday night. Great atmosphere. Front of bar opens onto East Ave giving a nice outdoorsy feel. No problem getting a table at 6:30 pm. However very understaffed even given the lower volume of business. Started our adventure with one waitress and one bartender on duty. At 630 dinner hour, on a Saturday. needless to say service was very slow. On the plus side the service was so slow that it likely saved us on the bar bill spent much time staring at empty glasses. Kitchen was rocking it though. Our party ordered a steak salad, an order of potato skins, 20 wings and a chicken sandwich. Things seemed to appear in the serving window in a haphazard way. Slowly the order grew and it was delivered. Some of it cold, some of it perfect. Three stars… though inconsistent on temp of food flavor was good and prices reasonable. With a little better staffing these things might smooth themselves out.

Bartending staff is great, however, water was leaking from the ceiling into the men’s restroom, water was all over the floor in the hallway leading into the men’s restroom. This was only recognized by a handwritten cardboard sign on one of the restroom doors well after coming in contact with the water(a potential slip hazard). With no effort made to clean up the water. Restroom was disgusting, I can only imagine what the kitchen looks like. Bouncers(wouldn’t even call them security guards) are want-a-be Police Officers with a terrible attitude. Will never go back to this place and would not recommend to anyone.

Best window seats ever. They have massive windows that open up to the street. Pretty decent beers on tap. I’ve always gone here early in the evening. It gets quite packed on weekends. Try the Craic Fries. They are a bit pricey($ 9 if memory serves me right) but they are the single best plate of fries you’ll get around town. Molten cheese and the right herb rub. Its brilliant.

Great place for groups small and large! Twenty of us came here for dinner and drinks last night, and our server Cassidy was on top of her game. Food came out fast and tasted delicious. I’d go back for their quesadillas!

Not bad bar food, they have soccer on the screen. Delicious beers on tap. Can be packed on any given late night. Nice outdoor seating and their windows open up like crazy sexy portals to fresh air.

So I’m here for the night life and Murphy’s is seriously where it is at on east ave! Seriously the worker Rita came up and offered us drinks on such a busy night she was awesome I think she definitely deserves a raise! Her customer service is amazing! Also there is a great outdoor area and the tacos rock on Monday they honor specials and I highly recommend them!

Murphys has grown on me over the years. It has solid food, good drinks, and isn’t as cramped as a lot of the bars in Rochester. It is a pretty popular place most nights of the week so it is usually pretty full, but with the bar that has service from all 4 sides you usually have no problem getting served. You can sit outside on one of the busiest corners of East Ave and the people watching is divine. The crowd here usually is a mix of some college types(and bros) and some older professionals so its hit or miss depending on what you are looking for. Its a great place to meet in the afternoon before it gets really busy if you want to sit and have a conversation with someone.

No surprise it was pretty empty on a Sunday afternoon, the day after the St. Patrick’s day parade. Our intention was to grab lunch at MacGregors across the street but I guess we hadn’t been down this way all winter and they are out of business so we stopped in at ML. The place reeked of stale beer and the floors were sticky from the previous day/night’s festivities(we figured with St. Pat’s day still two days away they were just waiting until after that to really clean the place). Considering it was pretty empty the waitress had a hard time taking orders and seemed a bit overwhelmed. We got our beers fast enough but had to wait at least another 10 – 15 mins after that to put in our food order. The Reuben was okay but it seemed like it was almost ground corned beef(scraps from the previous day?) and the club sandwich just okay. Now I remember why it had been years since I ate here. A better bar than a restaurant…

Note — This review is solely based on their bar service, meaning only their drink services on weekends. I’m a fan of Murphys Law. Free entry and great drinks for a great Irish joint. Drinks are relatively cheap for it’s prime location which is awesome! It’s a great place to have a couple of drinks before heading out to hop around to the more«pricey» locations. Great atmosphere and great crowd. The workers are really friendly and the bartenders are pretty efficient in serving the drinks. It can get super crowded on weekends and pretty loud in here. They do play some good music. It’s a good mix of modern and old school which is nice when you’re just people watching from the balcony and drinking.

I only like Murphys law for the Irish food. That being said I usually come here during the days. I know weeknights from 4 – 6 they have a half priced appetizer deal. On Sundays they have delicious brunch. My all time favorite meals from there are the Irish goat cheese sliders and the Irish mac n cheese. The service is usually very good. In the summer its nice because you can eat out side. I’ve heard that the atmosphere is strange at nights. I personally have never checked it out.

Meh. I feel like Murphy’s Law is two different establishments: before the night falls it’s a relaxed pub with ok food, and then at night, it’s a mecca for tools and the«whoohoo» crowd. I’d been to Murphy’s several times back a few years ago when I lived on Park Avenue, and it was always super crowded and obnoxiously loud. Not my idea of a good time, even when I could bar crawl with the best of them. Perhaps I’ve become a curmudgeon in my late 20s! I hadn’t been in at least three or four years until a few weekends ago when I got dragged along by some friends who insisted on «being 21 again» and coming here after a delightful dinner at Good Luck. Thankfully there was no line to get in, but we were still carded and given a wrist band upon entrance. I feel like Murphy’s Law suffers from multiple personalities — a wrist band for a pub? Nighttime, especially on the weekends, turns this place into a wannabe fist pumping club with schizophrenic music and a dress code. Lots of loud, drunken antics with loud, drunken people. It’s definitely got a frat boy/bro-ville vibe going on; and that’s not something I enjoy. Ironically, I returned just this past week with some co-workers for happy hour. Again, it’s a different place prior to 9pm. We arrived around 7:30p on a Wednesday and it was much more low key. It was trivia night and we ended up playing, albeit half-heartedly. It was probably our fault for not realizing, but trivia makes it tough to have a conversation with your companions while they are asking the questions via a microphone. One of my co-workers ordered some food, and I sampled some of the loaded fries. They were meh — covered with congealed cheese and bacon, they were crying out desperately for some seasonings — salt and pepper, cayenne, something. They also would have benefitted from a second frying to help crisp up their exterior. They were soft. All in all, not a place that I would return to if given the option except for MAYBE a lunch during the summer; I do like that they remove the windows for an airy vibe. I would caution all to avoid this place after 9p — unless a clubby vibe filled with drunk bros is your thing!

This is more 2.5 stars. We were staying at the East Avenue Inn and Suites and needed a place to grab lunch before heading to a wedding. I’m not sure why there are so many irish pubs in this one area, but there were three on the same block. One person wanted Shepards’s pie, so we left the restaurant across the street and came here since they did have it on their menu. The atmosphere is very strange. It looks very«irish pub» but the music is BLARING and it is rock. It was odd and didn’t seem to fit with the irish pub feel. The server seemed put off by the fact that we were there. Nothing in particular or specific, just got a real sense of attitude from her. Several of us started with either soup or salad. My french onion soup came out and it had clearly spent no time under the broiler. It also had a very watered down flavor. Other people in the party seemed happier with their choices. And the salad portions were quite large. I ordered the goat cheese salad as my entrée. It was HUGE. It had a surprising amount of goat cheese on it. It was tasty, but some of the lettuce didn’t seem all that fresh. It was also fairly expensive for a salad with no meat. The people who had the shepards pie did really enjoy it but felt that there was too much mashed potato and not enough meat. Overall, not the best experience but the food was decent enough, just overpriced. If I’m ever in the area again, I’d try someplase else instead.
