I used to like this place for two reasons: (a) darts (b) pool. There is nothing more to like about it. If you do not like the East and Alexander Experience, then by all means, run while you still can. Although this place is not as rowdy as Daisy Dukes, it can certainly get there. The specials are nothing excellent. I recall them having can or bottle specials once in a while. If you’re looking for a Sports Bar, head down East Avenue to Matthew’s(which also has pool and darts, but also great food, better drink specials and much friendlier service). The Pig-N-Whistle is also kind of uncomfortable because it is a stand-only establishment… meaning there are no chairs in this place. Therefore the only way for you to sit down is if you pass out drunk… which I’m sure most people that frequent this place do. On a surprising note, the bathrooms are really clean here, which I appreciate. The service is okay, not bad. Great place for groups.

The Pig is definitely one of the reasons why people hate East & A. I’ve been reluctantly dragged to the Pig twice, and was left more pissed than tipsy. This is a college bar for sure, and if you are hunting for some under-grad tail this is your place. You can go on your ‘hunt’ when you do a lap. Seeing what/who is out there. You can grab a drink at the middle bar or overpay for a quicker can of beer at the awning in the corner. There is some dancing from the drunken folks but just mostly circles of people around. The testosterone levels were quite high last time(it’s probably safe to assume every time), and near the end of the night there was 2, count ‘em 2 separate large brawls here. Needless to say everyone left soaked in beer and rum n’ cokes. Not too pleasant on a cold wintery night. College bar in the city… Next!

Um, on first glance it was empty, but that was at 5pm. Then later on at 9pm it was packed. Yet the drinks were still the $ 2 prices they were at 5pm. With pricing like this, me likey! I liked it even more when the bartender bought me all my shots all night. A little crowded, very much a local hangout, and not to be paranoid but I think I was the only non blond or brunette in the place, if you know what I mean. Not really a bad thing, because it didn’t bother me, but coming from SF, it was a little different. The local people were semi nice, some were nice, some stared and not in a nice way. All in all the company I was with made the night a blast, and now I can only look back at the place with fond memories despite anything else that may not have been wonderful.
