Remington’s rocks the Friday night Fish Fry! First, they serve complimentary warm bread with whipped butter while you are waiting for your entrees. Next, you can choose whether you want your fish fried or broiled which is great if you’re trying to avoid fried food. The broiled fish comes with wild rice and steamed vegetables; fries and coleslaw with the fried fish. All perfectly cooked and seasoned and the portion sizes are generous. I also tried the lobster bruschetta which was excellent. Toasted baguettes with meaty lobster bits in a sherry cream sauce. Delicious. Charming, equestrian feel to the décor with interesting details like tiny table lamps made from an empty Patron bottle, or a Hunt Club sign with a fox peering through a hunting horn, and candles on the tables. Rock on Remington’s.

If you’re looking for a nice«local» place this is it. Mark and his staff always please the customer! A very comfortable place to be. The food is terrific, everything is very good but the Osso Buco and the Shrimp Alexander are particular favorites.

Great neighborhood place. Good spot to have drinks and casual dinner at the bar or have nice quiet dinner in the dining room. Never been disappointed.

I’ve had 2 great meals here. Portions are good, prices in line with quality, service is great… Nothing bad to say. I had the Shrimp Alexander most recently and the meal was fantastic. Could easily give 4and½. It’s not a 5 just because there are a lot of great places for this price range and I’m not sure it quite stands out enough to warrant a perfect score, but it is very good.

Forgotten Favorite !!! Joe the bartender is great he’s super friendly always willing to go the extra step to make a customized mixed drink at request. The bar it self is warm and welcoming I love the lounge area at the end by the popcorn machine, nice little touch ;) The dinning area is perfect for a date night with booths for two or if you had a large party they have a second room with plenty of space. They have lunch menu, a dinner menu as well as a bar menu! My favorite is the steak bruschetta & salon salad ! Enjoy !!!

Went here for the first time and was really impressed. The dining room is quiet and relaxing and they have a full service bar. Very happy with the quality of the food and the service was great too. I ordered the Cajun chicken pasta — it was fantastic and a pretty big portion. If you’re looking for wine, they have a few really good options. I opted for the Pinot noir and was not disappointed. If you’re looking to have a quiet night out or celebrate a special event, definitely don’t pass up the chance to go to Remington’s.

A friendly staff gives this place a real warm neighborhood feeling. We had not been here in a few years and the menu appeared to be the same. The entrees come with a salad which is unusual these days and a good value. The warm bacon dressing was very good. Three of us had salmon and one the walleye. Unfortunately the salmon was just warm, not hot, but it was cooked right, not over done. The salmon was tasty. The walleye was ok, it was a bit tough and bit bland. Our server seemed a bit inexperienced in many ways. She did not know the beer and wines very well, we had to continue to ask for water refills, etc. We’d return for the bar scene but wish the menu was more interesting and the food better prepared

Love this place! Went there last night and the food was amazing. Bisque, steak, chicken French. Delish! The service was fantastic too. The atmosphere is elegant casual with an old English sporting theme. Dark wood, low lights and an equestrian charm. Cannot wait to go back Update 8÷14÷14. Went for dinner around 8:00 seated right a way which was nice. My only complaint about Remington’s is that the music from the bar is way to loud while you are dining. It’s supposed to be casual elegant and it just doesn’t work with the music blaring from the bar side of the restaurant. We stated with seafood bisque. It was not bisque sadly. It was chowder. It was good for being chowder but could have used more seafood. My chicken French was quite delicious. My husbands fish fry was just ok, panko breaded but kind on the small side. Service was good but just a tad slow but we didn’t mind that, gave us a time to chat. Overall the food is excellent, decent beer selection, decent parking however the blaring music might send us over to Tavern 58 instead.

My wife and I went here tonight for dinner on a amazon local gift card. This isn’t too out of our way since we live in the city, so we gave it a a chance. Danielle our server could not have been better. For flying solo on a Monday with 5 – 6 tables she kept it together. She took our drink order returned with bread and water. My wife ordered bacon scallops and they were broiled on the outside and cold on the inside. We notified Danielle and she replaced the dish in under 5 minutes, amazing! I was boring and ordered chicken french(a staple of rochester) and that was good also. Hats off to the great staff for a great dinner and service.

We went to Remington’s for anniversary dinner. The owner, Mark, greeted us warmly. Our server Danielle was friendly and informative. Our dinners, Lamb Osso Bucco and Bacon wrapped Scallops were delicious! A great combination of warm atmosphere, friendly people and good food. Will definitely be back!

I have not been to Remingtons in 5 years os so. It has gone down hill over past few years. Food was over seasoned and the dining room next to the bar was very noisey. The new owner, who was tending bar, should probably not mix with the patrons until he becomes a little more polished in the business. I have been drinking martinis for 45 years and it was not very good. The cosmo was terrible. He took exception to that. The veal was very tough and the walleye was overseasoned. Will not be back.

I’ve always heard about Remington’s but never went in until tonight. Are you ready, dear Unilocaler? Here we go… First impression — the bar area is very Olde English. Narrow in width, long in length, with the bar taking up more than half the available space, elevated cocktail tables opposite with some window booths. Deep-varnished wood everywhere with faux-bronze fresco on the ceilings. The beer selection is a little deeper than is typical for Rochester. All-in-all, a step up from the usual in my opinion. The clientele on a Saturday dinner service was definitely focused more on the bar than on the dining. As we will discuss, they are missing something. Second impression — the dining room is similar, but with a fairly elegant touch of individually lit paintings on the wall. The tables are small and intimate with black lacquered chairs. Dim lighting and candles and a wait staff clad in all black add an intimate touch. Third impression — the staff is courteous and prompt, but not exactly unseen. This is due to the closeness of the tables and the narrow size of the dining rooms, but it is what it is. They seemed to work very well together and support each other in presenting plates to tables. Personally I would have the staff in black button-downs instead of polos as I think the casual attire takes just a little something away from the upscale efforts of the décor. Fourth impression — the food is much better than what you’d expect. Part steakhouse, part pub, part 4-star kitchen in the kitchen. It is a unique combination and touch. I expected to see shepherd’s pie, mutton loaf, or Yorkshire pudding on the menu based on what I saw of the décor and layout. Instead my eyes perused braised lamb, crab-stuffed shrimp, spinach-stuffed ravioli, shrimp Alexander, grilled prime rib and New York strip. Suddenly my decision-making ability became slightly hampered. Settling on the filet and shrimp Napoleon(crab-stuffed shrimp) I moved on to subbing out my salad for a bowl of the seafood bisque. Remember how I raved about the bisque at Hose 22 and The Crab Shack?(search for it). This bisque was far and away better. It was much, much more… oh, what’s the word… authentic. Yeah, that’s it. With flakes of parsley, chives and a sprinkle of paprika on top it was the perfect consistency. Not too thin, not too thick. It even had clams and oysters in it to compliment the shrimp and lobster. My dinner choice was presented beyond my expectation. Garlic mashed formed the foundation of a food pyramid, with the filet topped by shrimp Napoleon. I was very pleasantly surprised. Lumps in the mashed signified fresh-made, the size of the shrimp screamed«not farm raised» and the cut of filet was at least 1.5 inches thick — impossible to ruin and perfectly done for a medium roast. I would not have stacked the shrimp in the roasted red pepper demi-glacé but stacked them atop the vegetables; I would have preferred the flavors to be separated between the surf and the turf. Was my dinner exceptional? No but it was far better than most restaurants in the area. The cooking was perfect, the presentation was extremely nice with some attention to detail and the staff was courteous and prompt. There were no issues for me like some others Unilocalers have commented on. One very positive point I’ll mention here is the portion sizing. They are perfect. Not too much, not too little, and the right size to satisfy you. No overeating, no doggie-bags to lug home. A job very well done by the chef in the proportioning. I was, however, slightly confused with what I perceived to be a slight case of personality disorder. I’ve watched enough Kitchen Nightmare episodes to know that English pubs often offer premium cooking in a traditional setting, and this was my first experience of it. It is definitely something that’s not cut from the cloth of American restaurants. It was just slightly odd for me, but not unpleasant or unwelcome. One nit-picking point for me here is their website. I know, I know, I’m grasping at straws but the menu on the website was not complete against their in-house menu and the prices were different. I’ll be going back to try the lunch eventually and I will have high expectations for it. I hope that they don’t disappoint me as the prices are close to 5-star, which is the only reason I’m not giving them 4 stars. For now, Remington’s is a very nice place to occasionally celebrate with family or enjoy a date-night.

My husband and I went to Remington’s after a very long work week. The bartender/manager was kind enough to listen to the short list of drinks I enjoy and create something special for me. It is the little things like this that keep me coming back.

I went there to celebrate an anniversary. i ordered the most popular dish from reviews on Unilocal. It was tasty at first but after I got home, I got really sick from the meal. Unfortunately because I got food poisoning, I’m giving Remington a low review.

This is a review for their lunch. Haven’t been for dinner but intend to give it a try soon. They recently opened their doors to serve lunch again. It was a convenient option as I recently moved to the neighborhood and was hoping for a nearby lunch place to catch up with my mom. We enjoyed a late lunch ~2pm and were among a couple others sitting in the bar area. When you walk in you first encounter the bar — decent space with a couple tvs showing on demand concerts(Sting was performing during our lunch). The space gives off the old school steakhouse vibe — dark stained wood, red leather seat cushions, brass, a bit of the 80s. Our server was friendly and gave us the lowdown on their new lunch service. She also brought over the dinner menu after learning it was our first visit ever, offering recommendations. That day they had a soup special — broccoli cheddar asparagus soup. We both ordered that to start, which was my favorite part of the meal. I just love homemade soups and this was the creamiest soup and well-seasoned. I also had a small Caesar salad with grilled chicken. Another great option, nothing out of the ordinary, but I really enjoyed the chicken. It was nicely charred on the grill and tender. Our meal was a standard lunch with a few special touches to intrigue me to come back again. Based on the preparation of the chicken and the soup, and attention to detail, I anticipate a well executed dinner menu. Stay tuned for more!

I had some odd reminiscent issue with coming back here. I’m over it and fully recovered now, thank you. The staff was friendly. We heard each table being told that the kitchen hadn’t gotten new meat in for a few days so there were only a few pieces of certain cuts left. Hmmmm I’ll pass on the old meat. We ordered artichokes french which was standard but we hadn’t had it in awhile. Salad was standard but they make their own dressings. The poppy seed one was delicious and thick. The seafood bisque was ok, the shrimp alexander was a bit over done but ok, the duck was ok, the veg served with the duck was barely cooked, the potatoes on the other hand were deliciously crisp. Everything was salted passed the well seasoned mark. Although they did have a great special going on that we skipped I’ll absolutely agree with Hope C. that the price: food quality ratio is too high. If I went back it would be for a beer and a fish fry or prime rib.

Lovely. I had the escargot & osso bucco. My mom had the calamari & cod salad. The calamari was the BEST fried calamari I’ve ever had, and I’m not a huge fan of fried calamari. The balsamic glaze used was just the perfect amount to season the dish without drowning it. The escargot was tender and perfect. The osso bucco was simply butter, in every way. Not too big, not too small portions. Our server was a great mix of professional and personable. The timing for each course was perfect — I’m sure my osso bucco took a very long time, but both dishes arrived equally hot and fresh. We went during Saturday dinner, and this place was moderately busy at the bar, and the dining room filled up quickly but not in too hectic of a way. I’m so glad I found this place, which helped to redeem my opinion on Rochester hidden«gem» restaurants. I’d highly recommend.

Went with my GF for a nice dinner out. She LOVED it. I thought it was pretty good. I’d give it a 3, she says its a 5 so they get a 4. Part of my 3 is that it’s very pricey so you really have to impress the crap out of me to get a good rating at that level. It’s a typical older warm, American cuisine restaurant. Steaks, chops. duck. With respect to food, It’s higher end. We got there pretty late on a Friday night so there was no wait for a table. Our waitress was very nice and a decent waitress. She didn’t bug us but was around enough to keep our glasses full. We started with a special prime rib skewers appetizer. It was very good. Sweet sauce on it almost a bbq. VERY tender slices of PM, some veggies, etc. Our salads then came. We both ordered crumbly bc on them and while it’s just a salad, it was very fresh and didn’t taste like it just came out of a bag. Good salad. FYI, they charged us a dollar each for the bleu cheese. We spent over $ 100 for dinner and you’re going to charge me $ 2 for salad dressing? Are you shitting me? OK, I am being cheap, but it’s not about the $ 2. Just add it to the cost of the dinner. Don’t make me feel like you’re nickel and diming me. That’s the kind of thing that made me rate it a 3 instead of 4(of 5). Next, came GF’s fillet mignon and my grilled salmon. The servings were pretty large, which I love. My salmon looked a bit colorless, but I’m sure it’s b/c it’s wild salmon not the farm raised dye infused kind I buy. Not the best ever but I enjoyed it. Her fillet was 10 oz, which is a very large fillet in my book. It was cooked to perfection. They rally nailed it. And it was totally soft, like butter. It was an excellent excellent cut of meat. She likes it cooked way more than me and even at her way done state, it was amazing. and somehow tender. a tribute to the quality of that cut in my opinion. We were too stuffed for dessert. The bar was packed when we left(Fri. night) or we would have stayed for a nightcap. I will be coming back here whether I want to or not b/c she LOVES it. I have to say, I do want to try other items. I might have the salmon again but more than likely I’ll explore other parts of they menu. I have to say the key to this place based on everything I ate and what I’m seeing on other reviews is the quality of their food. The steak, the prime rib in the app, my salmon… all of it was very very good. Top it off by having someone working the grill that obviously knows how to cook a quality steak like this and you have yourself a very nice restaurant. I would say it’s a great place for date.

This is a good restaurant, but it will never be fantastic because the price: food quality ratio is far too high for the private, quiet and neighborhood joint it’s marketing itself as. Yes, it’s been there in that neighborhood for awhile and yes I enjoy supporting local businesses, but with so many varied, reasonably priced and more… modern…choices in Rochester, Remington’s has to do more to make it stand out from the crowd.
