Rochester Linoleum & Carpet One

There after-​sale service is the pits. They are fast and friendly to make the sale and measure your property but after that it all falls apart. We paid our deposit on August 25^th. The contract specified September 22 as the installation delivery date. As late as ⁹⁄₂₁ there was not a call from them telling us what to expect. We called. Oh, I am sorry. The carpet has not shipped from the factory yet. The carpet did not arrive at their warehouse until October 19^th. They called to set up a date for installation. We decided on that Thursday. The installers arrived and looked a the house and said we cannot install today. Why? We (the clients) were supposed to clear off all the nick-​knacks and breakables from our furniture so they could move it. But surprise, no one from Carpet One called to inform us what to do or expect. We rushed to move lots of stuff into any available space to clear things off for the installation the next day. The installers never arrived. We called the installers and were told that Carpet One had sent them out of town and they could only work on our house (now completely up in the air) for about 2 hours that afternoon. Completely unacceptable. Carpet one management completely unresponsive. Go some where else!

Run, don’t walk away from them. This place took my deposit money at the end of march, a week later, the day before the guys were supposed to measure, they call to tell me that No one wrote down the names of the samples the measure guys were supposed to bring, and could I describe them in color, and location in the store. Nice. Bad omen. The guy comes to measure, and we set a date of ⁴⁄₂₅ to install. ⁴⁄₂₃ comes around, and no call. We call them, only to find out that nobody was ever gonna call. There is no carpet. Now they tell us probably another week. This goes on week after week. Meanwhile, my whole house is torn apart because all the bedrooms and den furniture are shifting down a room. But I still have to keep this one key room empty. Cuz it’s coming «any day now «. Here it is mid may, and I’m good and mad at this point. Now I’m out of time, as my daughter is moving in. Her queen bed will go in the living room, and her stuff in the dining room. No one is able to tell me just where this mysterious and elusive carpet is. Lots if phone calls, lost paperwork, and excuses. Now here is the funniest part. I call last night (have them on speed dial now for the sake of convenience) and they say it’s in! And that I should call today to schedule the install. I nearly peed my pants with joy. It was short lived. Very, very short. They made another oopsy, and it’s not here. No idea where it is. I have to fill out a form and have the manager «review» to possibly get a refund. Nice way to do business. Didn’t need a manager to take my money. While filling out their useless form, I saw a poor old couple that seemed to be going through the very same thing. After I left, i realized that i should have just gone through my bank to get my money returned. So thats what i did. Sad. I left there without my money, no carpet, and very few answers. I will never buy anything from them again, and hope no one else does. As a side note, I would like to mention that I had, in the past used rochester linoleum in greece to buy several rooms of flooring. That location is now closed. The salesman named Mike was amazing. Very professional, very customer oriented, fun to work with, and knowledgeable. Also, he never blew smoke up my bum. To bad that store closed.

If I could give Negative Three Stars I would. They put a contract in front of you for signature without informing you of the return and refund policy. I work in banking and if we engaged in tactics of this sort we would be in prison.
Order took 3 weeks longer than it should have according to the salesman, with no explanation and multiple unreturned calls from the manager.
I always try to buy local where I can and not use etail, but I cannot wait for online retailers to put these jokers out of business.

Buy beware. They will say anything to have you sign the contract. Once that’s signed they try to say there is no way to cancel. They try to use scare tack ticks to force you to accept the order. Look else were. A couple of extra dollars at some other carpet vendor is worth it. Don’t make the same mistake as I did.
