101 Deli

The food is really great, I’ve had a few sandwiches and they were amazing, but the customer service here is lacking. I’ve gone in on multiple occasions and there was on my one time I was greeted with kindness and respect. The other times, the person behind the counter was rude not only to me but to the other people in the store as well. I’m an individual who has been working in customer service for years and I think people need to understand that you get paid to do a job. That job is to service the customer and give the company a good name. You shouldn’t be paid to be rude and obnoxious to customers.

Best heroes ever! The bread (roll) is homemade. My favorite is roast beef with potato salad. .. dressed. .. with a pickle from the barrel.

For 10 blocks in either direction there isn’t much near 101. In the 90’s there are some places– Uma, Rockaway Taco, Sayra’s. But these places aren’t always open for lunch. 101 is, and I’m thankful. The staff is super nice, as well as the owner manager guy. In the morning there is a big rush from the scholar school kids but this is just for 30minutes. They have a great selection of sandwiches. My personal favorite is the chicken chipotle, the salsa is fresh and they put avocados on it! The breakfast is also good, very basic egg on a roll stuff, but really good. As long as I’m working in Rockaway I’ll be frequenting 101.

I love this deli! The only neighborhood Deli that has a great staff and great meats. There sandwiches are all top notch. They give you lots of meats to fill you up. It’s always clean and well maintained.

Wow the mighty have fallen. 101 deli back years ago made one of the best sandwiches this city has ever seen. That 101 deli does not exist anymore. The bread is still fresh and delicious but the meat used is god awful. 101 deli has gone down and it’s sad to see because at one time the food was amazing. The staff that works there is very lazy and most have attitudes, but not all. One day I hope I can go back and order a sandwich and receive the quality that they used to dish out.

Heard great things about food. Walked in early AM only 1 customer buying lottery tickets. Had to call in the kitchen to get someone to take my order. My food was brought to the cash register. Clerk has screwed up lottery #‘s and is arguing with the guy. I asked politely to cash out. She wouldn’t even look up. I left my food on the counter. I thought it was 101 Deli not 101 Lottery Joint. Rude, disinterested staff. Give it a miss. There are better places in Rockaway.

The wait is soooo long here, make sure to budget 15 – 20 minutes for a cold hero. The bread is pretty awful, good selection of Heros though.

Over priced. Over rated. Nasty service.
I live around the corner and I have not been there more than a few times in the past three years. I generally avoid.
They have some good items, but they are very overpriced.
Ragtime or Brothers in Howard Beach is much better and worth the trip.

Went for lunch had 6 chicken wings that cost $ 12.99 a pound never ever of anyone selling wings by the pound so 6 wings cost $ 10.95 place is a rip off I will never return and the salads were horrid

The sandwiches were okay, but the disgruntled staff made it the type of place that I won’t return to.

I had a delicious roast beef and mozzarella sandwich here. The portion size was ENORMOUS — more than enough for two people to share and be satisfied. They have a nice selection of deli salads and a huge selection of drinks. I was a bit flustered by the fact that there are no menus or signs, so I didn’t really know what to order or how much it was going to cost. But the sandwiches are less than $ 10 and, again, enormous, so price was not an issue.

Some work colleagues told me to check out 101 Deli because it’s «just like a Midtown Manhattan deli». Yes, it was surprisingly reminicent of a Midtown deli. They had a good assortment of prepared foods, including some healthy options, and I loved that they had a huge serve-​yourself pickle barrel. The bagels looked incredibly fluffy and fresh so I’ll have to grab one next time.

The best place to get a sandwich in the area. What I like best is the friendly people who work there. Don’t go to Boardwalk Bagel and Deli on 108 unless you want some attitude with your order.

I had a cinnamon raisin bagel this am and it tasted like a wheat bagel with lil raisins. I’m not sure if they make their own bagels but the cinnamon raisin tastes horrible. Where is the cinnamon and raisins? Also, they are so slow in the am. Subs are delicious but very expensive for no reason.

Their Chicken Parm and the «Thursday special» are awesome. Quality fresh bread and full of flavor. Great size for the price

You’d have to work hard not to like this place. When I arrived, I walked up to the counter and explained that I’d never been in before. I didn’t know how their system worked. «You have a treat in store for you!» — that was Denise, who introduced herself and asked my name. I wanted a sandwich and saw that there was a Cuban sandwich special. I ordered the Cuban and paid for it. Then it turned out that my Dad wanted me to bring back some bread. Could I order some? No problem! How much do I owe you? «Welcome to the 101Deli»!
The sandwich was carefully prepared and beautifully wrapped. It was large and it was perfect! At $ 8, it was fairly priced. I’ve had Cuban sandwiches before, and this one did not break new ground. I’d give it a 4. But the wonderful greeting and service leads me to add one star. I’m happy to recommend the 101 Deli and I hope to be back before long.

I stopped here on my way to the beach this past weekend, since it was closer to where I parked than the bagel/​sandwich shop I usually frequent. Although they have a huge selection of deli products and prepared foods, there is no menu or product list to give you any guidance. And when I asked if they had a menu I received a very surly response, as if that was a ridiculous question, and then a half-​assed rundown of typical things I might want to order. Meatball sub? Eggplant parm? In a bikini? No thanks. So I ordered a grilled veggie panini with mozzarella. The bread was amazing and fresh, and the eggplant, onions, and zucchini on the sandwich were nicely grilled, if a bit plain. Luckily the saltiness of the mozzarella saved it. However, why I had a big pile of carrots on an Italian-​style veggie panini is beyond me. Maybe if I had seen a MENU that told me that carrots were included in the sandwich I could have asked that they be omitted in favor of roasted red peppers or something else equally appropriate. I think next time I’ll keep walking.

The bread here is delicious and makes for amazing sandwiches!

My favorite deli in New York… actually my favorite deli anywhere. They have the best freshly made on site bread I have ever had at a deli. They make the best heroes. Two sizes (mini and regular) are both priced below $ 7. My pick is to try the hot roast beef with American cheese, gravy, salt and pepper. They are a great stop on your way to the beach with a variety of sides like macaroni salad, potato salad, drinks, chips etc. They also just went under a renovation last year and the place looks amazing inside.
