Had salesman come over to the house, I told him what needed to be moved at one location and I had another location he should come to check out before giving me a quote. He stated that it would cost x amount that included the truck and 2 men! I asked him why he did not have to go to the second location he said estimate would cover it! I was told by the sales man the estimated a 10 hour day, He did not tell me that in the estimate was a 2 hour drive from Rockland and Back that was a 4 hour reduction I was not told about! Moving day comes 3 guys show up not 2 like I was told small truck they could not go to the second location, and I owed them another $ 400 bucks! They said that I would have to book them again to come back and get the rest of the items which would fill the truck for another $ 1200. So at the end of the day the brook a number of items and I was taken for more $$$. DON’T USE THESE GUYS TOTAL RIP OFF!!!

Stay far away. Moved less than 10 miles, and had them keep stuff in storage 3 days. Low quote, then price actually charged is substantially higher… then threatened to call police if I didn’t pay them the overage charges on the spot either in cash, bank check, or with an incremental fee to use credit card. Bank check needed to be made out to an individuals name, not Casey Movers. Broke furniture, and never responded to claim form.
TV stand broken during move, and two filled boxed completely soaked somehow. Another box never arrived. Workers arguing with each other and blaming things on the other crew of movers.
Only 2 stars as the first crew we had move us out of old place seemed great, and were very friendly and helpful. Then a complete sheetshow for the move in, and payment process.
From reading other reviews, definitely waited nearly a year before posting the negative review. Apparently there have been «intimidation tactics» taken on others who post negative reviews. They know where you live… With these guys, you really don’t want that.

As noted in the review, I waited a year to write the review intentionally. There are other reviewers who noted «intimidation tactics» related to bad reviews. As others recommended, wait long enough to post a negative review; no one wants to explain to their children why that truck keeps driving by the house slowly.
As for using the 15 days to submit a damage claim, I did submit a claim and never heard a word from Casey Movers. It would be great if your staff responded to claims as quickly as you respond to negative reviews.
As for payment of bank check or money order, you tell the customer how much the Overage is above the estimate, in my case ~20%, after the move is complete, and banks are closed. You give a second option to pay by credit card… with an additional 5% fee. Customer has no option but to be further ripped off by your unprofessional moving company.
As for a «small staff of drivers and movers», 3 people moved me out, and 2 different people moved me in. The 2 people who moved me in complained the whole day about only having 2 people, and every time an issue came up, they blamed it on the other crew. No feedback forms.
You say they are paid well, but they complained to me about how little they were paid, and told me that if they didn’t collect the Overage charges, the company policy was that they would need to eat the overage, and to call the police on the customer. You’re a classy bunch.
Since the company clearly has administrative staff to be able to monitor reviews, it makes it further unacceptable that there was never any response to my damage claim.

Terrible. I will never use this company again. I was quoted one price with two movers. Three movers show up saying they will get the job done faster. It took 9 hours to move my one bedroom apartment which included a 40 minute travel time. They charged me over double what was quoted. Every item that I labeled fragile was upside down upon arrival. They left my bed blanket in the elevator, it just was happen chance I found it. Then the three movers coerced me into giving them tips, saying if I give them tips, they won’t charge me for the last hour. (they did anyways). I asked for a receipt, never got one. Calling the manager was useless. She said she would email me the receipt (took 3 phone calls). I wanted to discuss the fee and mud quoted estimate but she had her lackies intercept the phone calls. I wish I had seen the Unilocal reviews before hiring this company. I wish there were minus stars, they don’t even rate one.

Movers worked extremely hard (thus not a zero rating and I tipped them), but were not careful. Salesman said the price would be the price but it wasn’t, it was significantly hirer. Not much you can do about that on moving day. I pointed out what was being moved to salesman but movers refused to move about 10 boxes. The truck was undersized, head mover tried to get them to send another truck. Nope, they had to cram everything in. My gym bag was left on truck. They called me about it. My bad, I waited a few weeks to call back with all the transitions but no sign of it, nobody remembered it. Classic answer — file claim, even though they know they won’t cover it after 15 days.
Not impressed nor would I recommend them.

This company lost:
My TV.
One of my Moving Boxes full of my clothing.
My bed slats.
Never, ever use this company. Why can’t we give 0 stars?

Do not use this company. Gave estimate and refused to move furniture until payment was received. Ending up spending extra $ 300 so that movers would unload truck. Attitude problem right from start. Looking for gratuity and payment before starting moving furniture. Took long breaks sitting in truck. Furniture damaged and left behind. Had used company previously, would never use again. Still waiting for measly $ 75 reimbursement for damaged goods. Grandfather clock scratched and pendulum bent. Tired of getting run around. Reporting to BBB and attorney general’s office. No way to treat people.

As previous posters stated – if I could give this company zero stars, I would. I do not ever want to move again because of this company. To sum it up– loss of multiple sentimental items, damage in both houses, furniture and items broken. They lost my son’s baby box! The office staff are rude and quite frankly, just plain stupid.
I wish we could add photos because I took pictures of the damage after it occurred. It is so utterly ridiculous. How this company stays in business is beyond me. I hope it goes under. I moved 5 years ago and look at all the bad reviews they have received since then. They haven’t changed all. How are they still in business? It’s baffling.
Also, don’t put your items in their storage facilities. I went there on a Sat. once looking for my lost items and there was no one in the office but the storage unit was wide open. I could have taken anything I wanted. I have pictures of that too. ;)

there are a few key components to qualify a mover
1. prompt
they arrived 2.5 hours late, no phone call
2. courteous & polite
they were polite
3. qualified and competent
They were able to move things but they did not secure things very well and so minor damage to some of the items — more on this later
4. deliver as promised
Here they had a total failure — see below.

They showed up 2.5 hours late. Started to unload our POD and move it 2 hours away. The contract was for 6 hours @ $ 150/​hour. I was there to unload the POD — it took 45 minutes. They left promptly at 9:30, i told my wife on the other end to expect them at 11:30, and they showed up promptly at 11:30. When they arrived the entire time had now been on the clock for 3 hours (max) The unload time at the house was scheduled to be less than 1 hour and then pay the 2 hour return to the home base.
However they confronted my wife when they arrived and told her that they would not be unloading unless she paid 100% upfront more than $ 1000. Bringing our total to more than $ 1500. My wife called and asked me what to do. In the meantime the movers told her that she was being charged while she decided what to do. They said that in a few minutes they would take the materials and move then to their warehouse and start charging a daily fee.
The movers wanted to be paid for the time in the am when the truck did not start and they demanded we pay up front. Also when they left they made us sign a form that stated we would not cancel our check or refuse payment on the charge or additional charges would apply.
In the end we paid them and they moved the items in — it took them 45 minutes. They were gone by 1pm — including the time negotiating for the unreal and unapproved charges. They are an unscrupulous lot, and they are not worth working with as they cannot be trusted.
The move took Place in December and i waited to write a revew until i had time to calm down. I am writing this review because by the time the movers are at your door its too late. The contract they made us sign and the changes in the middle of the move to the price were all very unscrupulous. The move cost 2x more than originaly quoted and they were very underhanded about the entire thing.

I’d really have second thoughts about using this firm. Although they told me they were a «family» business, and vetted their employees very carefully, the move supervisor stole over $ 6000 in jewelry from us. When I pressed charges, police investigations revealed that several of the Casey movers that showed up to move us that day had police records. 2 were prosecuted. Not really a reliable company. Also, trying to resolve this issue proved very unpleasant and time consuming. No «family member» ever contacted us. They also held our furniture hostage until they reluctantly agreed to reduce the cost of the move to compensate us for SOME of our loss. No official apology was ever given and we, of course, had to sign waivers to satisfy them.

Rating: 0 This was the worst move I have ever experienced (and I have moved a fair number of times in my life). Casey Movers cold-​called me when the sale pending sign went up on my front lawn. They were friendly and and engaging and very solicitous of my business. They also offered 20 free boxes if I hired them to move me. They sent someone to my home several weeks before the move and he went through each room meticulously noting all of my possessions (including a piano) in order to give me as accurate an estimate as possible. They seemed very organized and came in with a good price, so I hired them. I had to call 3 times before they dropped off my 20 free boxes. They dropped them off Tuesday afternoon — two days before my move.
The 3 men who showed up on moving day were timely and courteous. I Showed them around the house, pointed out where boxes were marked and they got started. Despite the fact that the man who gave me the estimate promised me that all of my furnishings and artwork would be wrapped well by Casey Movers, I did not see a single item wrapped. Which could account for the shattered glass from one piece of art before even making it to the truck. The movers moved my possessions in what felt to me a random order. When I noted that to one of them he said, «I’m awesome at Tetris.» Apparently this was supposed to make me feel better about my belongings being stacked and shoved into a mound in the truck. After about 4 hours of grueling work (and it was extremely hot that day) one of the guys approached me to say the truck was full. There was plenty of my belongings still in the house. When I questioned this, I was told simply that the truck was full. When I suggested that was a problem I was told by another man that they would take care of it, even if it meant coming back the following morning. When I panicked (because the walk-​through with the new owners was the next morning) he assured me that he and another guy would show up at 7:30 in the morning and take care of it. When I asked if this was company policy he told me that it was done quite frequently.
When we arrived at my new house I wondered if they were going to take a lunch break. Not that it was my business necessarily, but it was 90 degrees out and they were doing demanding physical work. They told me they were fine and would just push through. They brought dolly after dolly loaded with boxes into the house and tilted them into random rooms — despite the large colorful letters naming where each box was to go. Boxes marked «THIRD FLOOR MASTER BEDROOM» were carelessly tossed in the basement. Then they brought in my piano. The company was well aware that I had a piano and it was going to the second floor. Unwrapped, the 3 men grunted and groaned and sweated, slamming the piano repeatedly into the wall all the way up the stairs. I was on the third floor horrified as I listened but too stunned to actually do anything other than pray. About halfway through unloading the truck we were approached by the lead man with the paperwork. When I questioned him wanting me to sign before the work was complete he said it was pretty standard procedure and that if I wanted I could look around and that there wasn’t that much left on the truck.
I chose to look around and found a number of boxes in wrong places, our chest freezer on its side in the middle of the basement floor (not plugged in), and a general lack of order (some boxes stacked, others on their sides, boxes on top of furniture, etc). I did ask them to rectify a few of the more egregious problems (like the freezer), but quite frankly, it was 8:30PM and I just wanted them out of my house. I gave them the bank check they required and the extra money they charged for additional time (the move went well beyond the estimated hours). It wasn’t long after they left that we found the giant crack in the side of my wife’s dresser or the fact that the sofa had no legs or the fact that the bed was not put together properly.
As anyone might guess by this point, they never showed up the following day to finish the job. I had to borrow a minivan and have friends help move the remainder of our belongings. When I called Casey Movers to complain I was basically told that because I didn’t call when the first picture shattered and because I signed the paperwork I had no recourse with them. I begged for some help. The new owners had shown up for their walk-​through and were furious, threatening not to release the funds for purchase. Casey Movers said that wasn’t their problem. I seriously would have settled for an apology from them, but instead I was berated for entering into an unlawful contract with one of their workers. Apparently having men show up the day after a move to complete it was not company policy. When I talked about the damages and the holes in the stairwell wall, the woman said, «they guys said you were going to have that wall painted anyway.»

*BEWARE* If only possible to rate CASEY MOVERS at less that a 0 i would. Listen to all the previous reviews and don’t be fooled like me. Casey movers is a company with bad business practices. They charged more than i authorized to my credit card. They charged even more stuff which they said they would reimburse me for but didn’t. stay away from this UNETHICAL company

Casey Movers was worse than awful. If you only read this far DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
My daughter previously wrote this review for me since I didn’t have my own Unilocal account, but apparently Casey Movers was able to convince Unilocal to remove her (actually My) review since she wasn’t the actual client. It didn’t seem to matter to Unilocal that my daughter was present during both ends of our move and she was a witness to all the problems that occurred. Be that as it may, here is my original review:
Found them in the Yellow Pages and before the move they were friendly and responsive. The move cost us $ 11,000. They promised every item would be bubble-​wrapped and then covered with moving blankets… this turned out NOT to be the case at all. They also said they would reassemble anything they took apart (beds etc) but didn’t.
Once we were in our new house it took them almost 2 weeks to deliver our boxes to us! They hired 2 local people totally unknown to them from a manpower type of service to unload the truck. The 2 guys were terrible and damaged walls, furniture and woodwork in our brand new house.
They broke and lost a large number of items including a ceramic egg grill, glassware, 2 boxes of dishes, my grandmothers hope chest and some woodworking tools. We owned (notice the past tense) a Big Green Egg (ceramic charcoal grill), which was extremely heavy as well as fragile. I specifically asked the movers if it was feasible to move this item without breaking it. Because if not I was going to leave it behind for the new owners of our old house. Well guess what arrived in pieces… right…the Big Green Egg.
Steve Casey (the owner) saw the damage and told us to just make a list and send it to him and he would take care of it.
As you’ve probably guessed, the «taking care of it» part never happened. I’ve called 6 or 8 times and nobody is ever able to accept my call and they never return my calls.
Finally I hear back that they will compensate me $ 0.60/pound for damage. WTF? How do you figure out how many pounds a hole in a wall is? How much does a hole in upholstery weigh?
When I finally sent them a bill for about $ 750, they delayed and delayed about a month and many calls before sending me a check for $ 380. What?!
There is no way I can say anything positive at all about my experience with Casey Movers. My only hope is to save someone else from making the same mistake I did.

If only I could add a photo I’d show you all the ridiculous, threatening letter I just received from Casey Movers.
But since I can’t I’ll paraphrase for you…“Please be advised that if your review remains online after November 21, 2012, Casey Movers will be filing a libel suit against you in which you must travel to Hingham District Court in Hingham, MA, as a defendant.“
Casey Movers’ audacity and naïveté is completely baffling. Maybe they don’t have access to a dictionary, where it clearly states that libel Is «publishing a FALSE statement.»
And it’s obvious to me that they don’t know the first thing about customer service, or Internet marketing, for that matter. Because if they did they would’ve done the right thing in the first place and compensated my parents for the items they damaged. If I were them I would’ve bent over backwards to make sure that not only were my customers happy, but also that they were so happy with my service that they’d recommend me to all their friends back in New England. I wouldve even apologized for using subcontractors with no moving expertise. But no, that’s not what happened. Instead, they did the complete opposite as you can see in my prior review.
And now, they’re using money that could’ve been used to compensate my parents, to sue me instead. They’ll most definitely be spending more money to do that than what it would’ve cost them if they could’ve just done the right thing in the first place.
Does this make sense to anyone???
And maybe a little homework should’ve been done prior to threatening me with a SLAPP lawsuit (
). It clearly states that many state anti-​SLAPP laws (including MA) H.R. 4364 would allow the defendant of a SLAPP to have the suit quickly dismissed and to recover fees and costs.

One star is too generous for this sketchy moving operation! They moved my belongings from Somerville to NY and used the oldest scam in the book! In Somerville they gave me a reasonable estimate of the total cost and lo and behold, when they showed up in NY the price was double!!! They also hold your belongings hostage until the bill is paid! Adding insult to injury, after paying them with a check, they decided to charge my credit card anyway $ 400 more than we agreed upon! Needless to say, stay far far away from these thieves!

If I could give ZERO stars, I would!
I would not recommend this company to anyone who cares about their personal belongings. I hired what I thought was a professional and reputable company to move my household goods out of my house and into a storage facility, and not only did the quote they gave me come nowhere near the final bill, but then come to find out, of all the items they moved, more came back to me damaged than not damaged (kitchen table and chairs, hope chest, desk, an entire leather set, another leather sofa, numerous dressers and many broken boxes with destroyed contents inside — you get the picture!). Knowing that, you would figure that they would stand behind the service given that Steve Casey (apparent owner of this company) even states on his website «Call me on it» if something is to go wrong, is unreachable and refuses to take my calls when I want to speak to him about my displeasure with the services I received.
The office was very unhelpful, unresponsive and as agreed with the previous review posted — rude! I even felt like they were blaming me for something they did! I had to do all of the follow-​up calling to get answers on how they would compensate me for items they damaged and/​or ruined, and many of the calls and emails that I sent went either unreturned or unanswered.
When I did finally speak to someone in the front office, they also asked me if any of the crew attempted to swindle a payment deal with me so more money would land in the hands of the moving crew, to which I stated no, but the office continued to tell me that they had recent issues of that. If that’s not a clear sign of the type of staff they have, I don’t know what is!
Fair warning to the average consumer — DO NOT USE THEM!
