This was formerly a 4⁄5 for me, but someone new is running the ovens. «I love it when a restaurant closes for the winter» — No One Ever

New owners as of 10−1−15. Pizza is nowhere near the same. Wasn’t bad but nothing special. Will miss the old. Won’t go back.

We had ice cream here tonight and loved it. Super friendly service, didn’t mind explaining about 10 different flavors to me and giving us each 2 tastes, they let me do 2 flavors in a small size cup, which made me happy as I was able to get«Muddy Bean Boots»(vanilla, caramel swirl, brownie bites, some kind of crunchy things scattered in it) and«Salty Sweet Pretzel»(chocolate, salted caramel swirl, chocolate covered pretzel pieces) in a single small serving. Loved them both, Salty Sweet Pretzel was one of the best ice creams I’ve ever had. And I’ve had a LOT of ice cream. Definitely worth a stop!

Great pizza, delicious pizza and a really friendly staff. My wife and I were in 7÷24÷15 at around 7pm and the staff was really great. The place was pretty busy but we didn’t have to wait long for our pizza. Will visit again!

One of my favorite lunch spots on Main St in Rockland. The food is great and I enjoy their twists on sandwiches and pizza. The atmosphere is quaint, but on a busy summer day it can be very hard to find a place to sit. This does not take away from my experience though, and sometimes I’ve found myself visiting once a week! One piece of advice I have for the restaurant would be to toast sandwiches for a little longer, because the bread tends to be over buttered and soggy.

Pizza made with pre-made crust and tough as cardboard. Tomato sauce tastes like pasta sauce. $ 25 for a large with a few extra toppings. Is this the best pizza in Rockland? No.

This is a really cute shop. They have ice cream and regular food/pizza. This review is only for the ice cream. My daughters had a chocolate cone and a strawberry cone. Both gobbled them down with gusto. The service was very friendly. They have a «mini staircase» for small children to stand on and see the menu. A very nice touch.

This establishment is always a unique experience! Their pizza is to die for! But their sandwiches are delicious too. And the ice cream is good, though sometimes priced a little high for the amount served. Part of the magic of this place would be the giant chalkboard wall for drawing on and the adorable window seats. Often it’s hard to find a seat on busy days but well worth the wait!

This place was pretty nice. I liked the atmosphere and the ample selection of ice creams. They also have thin crust pizzas, which other customers seemed to be enjoying. My wife and I each got a double scope of ice cream in a homemade waffle cone and our total was about $ 12.30. The staff was very helpful and was even able to give us a cup of water for our dog.

Amazing! Best glutenoids tee pizza I’ve ever had in my 11 years of being a celiac. I mean, the Best! My boyfriends normal pizza was out of this world,(now in his top 2).the sauce was the best either of us had ever had. Our crusts were delish. The chef had so many helpful tidbits of information for me of gluten free foods in the area. She really outdid herself all across the board! Thorndike Creamery offered gf pizza, gf ice cream cones, gf sandwich bread. We both can’t wait to make it back up! Mellow atmosphere, knowledgable & friendly staff.

Nice setting– great music and gluten free pizza! An added bonus for being one of the only restaurants open on Main Street on Dec 26! The chicken, pineapple and olive pizza was a tasty experiment :)

We had never had Gifford’s before, heard it was good, and set out to find some. Thorndike Creamery serves Gifford’s so we were in luck. Five pints of ice cream later we can say that it’s creamy and delicious with some awesome flavors like Campfire S’mores, Dark Chocolate Chocolate Chip, and Maine Black Bear.

We stopped in here 3 times over our 2 week visit to the area. They have MANY flavors of Gifford’s Ice Cream, which is delicious! One evening, we had pizza here. We tend to be picky about our pizza, but this was amazing! We took the leftovers home, & they were even better the 2nd time! The staff is very friendly and will pretty much do any combo of pizza ingredients or ice cream flavors that you want! Our son loved doodling on the huge chalkboard while we waited for our pizza. This has the feel of an old soda fountain. We loved it!!!

Friendly service, great lemonade, reasonable prices. My mushroom soup was a little on the so-so side, but I got a half a sandwich and a cup of soup and it was a LOT of food for me. It also came with a bag of chips, so all in all, it was decent.

And pizza! Went for lunch with kids. Great slices… spinach mushroom something and sausage with pepper. Very good. Tough seating but was worth it.

This was the first«eating stop» on the magical mystery trip that became less and less a mystery. I had a yummy grilled cheese with Morse’s pickle and chips on side. The waitress was ultra cool, but she was trying to get us to buy these photographs she was selling — some sort of postcards they had at the counter. I felt badly that we didn’t buy any. This is a great little stop that has two cozy corners where you can sit, eat, and people watch through the window.

After a rather harrowing day on the road(love winter in Maine!), I found myself in Rockland with serious hunger pangs. I parked my car in the municipal lot and Thorndike Creamery was the first eatery I came upon. I was greeted by the two cheerful girls who were working there and they quickly took my order of a Chicken Cheese Steak. It was out in a flash and was extremely satisfying. Warm and cheese-y and wonderful. I guess ice cream is the main attraction here during the summer, but their subs are well worth a visit. Also, it seems to me that things have changed since the last review. I noticed that they have switched from serving Round Top Ice Cream to Giffords(which is just as tasty).

While passing through Downtown Rockland, I stopped into the Thorndike Creamery for ice cream on a warm Monday evening. 30 flavors of Round Top Ice Cream are offered here including cones, cups, sundaes, frappes, floats, & ice cream sodas. The ice cream prices are fair: kiddie cone($ 1.85), small cone($ 2.05), medium cone($ 2.60), and large cone($ 3.80). Besides ice cream, they also serve pizza, calzones, sandwiches, soup, loaded baked potatoes, and cold drinks. The place was bustling with tourists lined up in front of the counter waiting to order, so it took about 5 minutes for me to order. I had a small ginger ice cream cone, which was on the sweet side with small chunks of ginger, soft texture, a pretty good and refreshing ice cream cone. For the kids, they can doodle on the large black chalkboard.
