Great family time! Definitely go when it’s not busy. The place fills up fast and then it’s just too packed to move. Ornaments are items you can find almost anywhere, but they have a great selection all in one place. The trees are a little pricey, but you get what you pay for. The wreaths are gorgeous! The food is nothing special, but the fudge and the popcorn… Yum! It’s definitely a holiday destination and we will be back — every year!

My husband and I have been trying different Christmas tree farm for the last 5 years, and we finally found the perfect one! There are SO MANY TREES. And several types of trees depending on what you want. They keep them well manicured and offer rides to and from the different areas. They also drive your tree back to the main lot which is super helpful! Great place for everyone! Dogs and kids included!

We got there at 10 when they opened but around noon got really busy.
People really nice and helpful. Very pet friendly and there are dogs that wander property looking for belly rubs.

Williams Tree Farm brings the true Christmas spirit to the season. Located West of Rockton, IL, this business goes back generations and is the backdrop to a well deserved annual tradition or one that’s in the making.
Acres of evergreens off the country road give note that you’re about to encounter a high-​spirited place full of joy, food, animals, whimsy, memories, and Christmas trees. The main log-​like building welcomes all to a warm fireplace, the smell of pine, and glistening lights draped on dozens of trees. I’m one that likes adventure and prefers to cut my own evergreen. But for those that prefer to shop among the best in show, the tree barn is full of trees that are priced to sell and recently harvested. Not your style and like to rough it? Take a sleigh ride out to the field and find yourself a baller of a tree that will make Clark Griswold choke with envy. And, did I mention the ride is free? Yeah dog.
Speaking of dogs, which you’ll see them chasing the horses, and four legged animals, the tree farm houses a load of animals from reindeer, a camel, emu, wallaby, goats, donkey, ducks, etc. Unlike other places you can see and feed all of the animals for free. Lots of opportunity for photo ops, selfies, proposals, and moments that will make you think back on what an old fashioned Christmas is all about.
Grab some hot chocolate or hot cider after you’ve scored the perfect fir and huddle up to a table with family and friends in the café or browse the gift shop. What I like the most is there isn’t a rush. It’s the perfect place to appreciate family, friends, and the reason for the season.

The overall appeal of Williams’s Tree Farm has nothing short of a remote cabin ambiance. Out of towners and locals all cherish a tree farm that offers families a place to form family memories. Upon arriving to the farm there is typically a bit of hustle and bustle around the main cabin. Don’t let this frighten you. There is a small shanty around back which provides maps and saws; you can either walk in the direction of the tree you’re looking for or jump on one of the horse drawn sleds. Once you are out in the pines looking for a tree suddenly the crowds disappear and you find yourself in a winter wonderland. After finding a tree you drag it to a nearby tail and an ATV or the horse drawn sled will pick you up. There is no better tree farm that can produce life long memories for you and your family. It’s worth the drive.

Williams Tree Farm is quite charming, but yet quite annoying at the same time. The main building is built like a log cabin with a giant 2-​sided stone fireplace when you first enter the building. They have a gift shop inside that sells overlypriced Christmas items/​décor. They also have a little concession stand that sells popcorn, coffee, and hot chocolate among other things.
Go toward the back of the building and you enter this gigantic room filled with trees, and wreaths. Now you can buy a pre-​cut tree here for about $ 1 more per foot. And they do have quite a selection, probably 200+ trees here and the place smells devine! But I was looking for a Balsam Fir… not super common in the Midwest, but certainly not rare. I spoke to a couple employees and inquired about them. They told me that they didn’t have any pre-​cut, and that I would have to go cut one down. That was fine with me…
Here is the charming part of the story… to get to said tree, I was given a map and showed where the Balsam Firs were supposed to be. Then I chose a handsaw, and jumped on a horse drawn wagon and was led about a mile into the forrest. When I got to the area I was sent to, I seen some Fir trees… but no Balsam. I searched and searched but to no avail. After about 30 mins of searching, we gave up and headed back to the main building…
Now the annoying part… upon getting back we speak to some more employees who say that we should come back tommorrow… until one suggests we speak to one of the owners… DUH!!! why didn’t they suggest that earlier? I speak to the owner and she says that where they sent us, there arent any Balsam Firs there, we have to go about a mile away on the other side of the road off property to find them and have to come back tommorrow… I was more than annoyed by then. We just left without any purchase and found a nice tree farm in Roscoe that sold us a Balsam Fir that same night.
Ad one other really annoying thing about this whole place, is the same thing people keep saying is great about it… all the dogs running a muck!!! They were everywhere. I don’t need to go shopping and have a dog jumping up on me and licking me and getting in my space. No thanks. Not my cup of tea at all.

Since our traditional Christmas tree farm closed down in 2009, my family and I decided to try out this place last year.
The first thing we noticed was the sheer amount of dogs on the premises. THEY WERE EVERYWHERE. And this is a fantastic thing! I must have seen at least a dozen and a half dogs while I was there. None of them were on leashes, and all of them were extremely gentle and friendly. Most of them were Goldens, but there was definitely a Bernese Mountain dog and a few mutts running around, too. A couple had stationed themselves in the cafeteria where we entered and were silently begging at the tables.
We took a few minutes to look around at the hall, which was decorated with rustic little trinkets, pine paneling, and the like. I was amazed at how spacious the place is – even though it was extremely crowded, there was still room to move around. The staff working at the ornament/​decoration shop and at the food stalls were very friendly, and overall, I just had a great feeling about the farm.
Outside, my family and I floundered in the snow until we came across a small booth. The lady inside directed us to wait for a trolley, which would take us up the hill to the Blue Spruce section. My dad does not wait for trolleys. He was determined to do this the manly way. This means we walked along a ridge for a few hundred feet and then decided to stop and cut down the best tree we could find there.
We ended up finding a really lovely tree, which wasn’t difficult considering how good the selection was. It was fairly tall and rather full, not at all lopsided – the kind of tree that fake trees are modeled after. After cutting it down, I helped lug it back to the trail to await the tag-​man, who would come in a few minutes to tag and haul our tree back to clearing where they’d shake and wrap the tree in plastic. I was impressed with how quickly this was done, and again, quite pleased with the cheery attitudes of the staff.
This year, I’m looking forward to bringing my dog along for the ride!

This place is pretty awesome. It’s virtues are almost too many to list, I can imagine if I were a kid I’d practically faint with the excitement this place could generate. A Santa handing out candy canes, fresh fudge, a sleigh-​ride with horses, a playground, Emus, a Christmas shop, other cool stuff and the opportunity to pick your own tree from a 350 acre lot and cut it down yourself. Frankly I’m 30 and was pretty excited myself.
They have a variety of different trees (Scotch Pine — Spruce etc) with a variety of price ranges. If you go for the basic Scotch Pine and pick one under 9ft then you’ll only pay $ 29 (plus $ 1.75 for shaking and bailing) which is frankly fantastic value. You get to borrow a decent bow saw, wander out amongst the many trees, pick one at your leisure and cut it down — drag it to the side of the road and someone will swing by on a snowmobile and take it back for you to shake and bail it before you load it into your car.
Really good friendly fun and really good value.

Absolutely fantastic experience. We’ve been cutting down a Christmas tree ever since our children were born and have been to many places. If you have a dog or at least like dogs this is the place. They breed Golden Retrievers here and there are always a handful roaming the grounds. Our Golden loves it.
See Santa, buy a wreath, cut down a tree. They have it all here. They also have a zip line that the girls did about a hundred times. It’s not a bad ride from Chicago and it just doesn’t get any better than this.
