We are an authentic Hong Kong style bakery, serving a variety of breads and buns baked daily. We’re focused on bringing you baked goods that are made fresh from original Chinese recipes and loved by people everywhere. Some of our most popular items are the Sponge Cake (海綿蛋糕) and our classic Pork Floss Cake (肉鬆蛋糕). Another favorite is our Cantonese Style Wonton Noodle Soup (叉燒雲吞麵) served with Roast Pork.

Our fresh fruit smoothies and bubble teas are also great for any time of day. Whether you’re in need of some caffeine or just craving a sweet dessert after lunch, our Hong Kong Milk Tea is always the perfect pick-​me-​up!

When you’re here, you can count on friendly faces and an attentive staff that will always be more than happy to introduce you to our vast selection of pastries and recommend you their favorites. Business Owner

Michael came upon the bakery business by luck, as he likes to say, and has been working in the industry for many years now. He realized that there were many bakeries in America but not very many that offered authentic Asian baked goods, so he sought out to create his very own. This was the humble beginnings of Asian Bakery Café and has since grown to be a favorite in the neighborhood, where the regulars know Michael by his welcoming «hello» and the scent of fresh baked bread fills the air.

Michael enjoys serving the community through Asian Bakery Café where authenticity is the driving force of his business. He truly hopes that you receive a positive experience each time you walk through the doors and will return to Asian Bakery Café when you’re in need of a simple snack and a relaxing place to hangout with friends and family!

Decently priced. However, I felt like their baked items were a bit lacking. I have tried their roast pork buns (boa) and while the lady said the ingredients were natural without the food coloring, the filling of the pork was very skimpy. I was a bit shocked to see how lil they put in there…
Baked items were kinda tasteless. The egg tart was good, but i prefer the crust of Bob’s bakery egg tarts better. My MIL prefers this bakery though, so maybe it’s just taste preference.

Love this place! Definitely one of my favorite little cafes in the area. They have an awesome selection of baked goods and bubble tea. The hot food they serve looks good but I haven’t tried it yet. Their taro filled pastries are soooo yummy.

I ordered the Singapore rice noodle it was good and hit the spot. The portion was a good size and filled me up. The chicken and the shrimp could use a little more taste. Those were a little bland. I give this dish three stars.
I ordered two egg tarts and they were amazing. Nice and warm. I give the egg tarts five stars.
Overall 4 stars in my book.

I’m from HK and i can tell this place is authentic hk style!
The bakery goods reminds me of the breakfast I used to have in HK! Yuenyeung was really good, sweetness is just right!

Went here today for their smoothies. We got a Mango Smoothie with Bubbles. I asked the owner if they used real fruit or powder for their Mango Smoothie and he was proud to say that they only use real fruit for their smoothies unlike other places. He said that he doesn’t feel good serving Smoothies with powder because it loses its integrity as Smoothies should be made with real fruits (and veggies). I also asked him about teas and what’s really good on the menu for teas so he suggested the Hong Kong Milk Tea. He was really excited about it that he even offered us a taste even after I shyly refused. It tasted really good! Been looking for a place with great Bubble Teas and Smoothies after YoCake relocated to CA and this is the number one spot on my list! Oh and the Mango Smoothie was definitely made of real mangoes and you have to trust me on that since I know my mangoes very well– the Philippine mangoes still are the best ones though ;) hehe
But anyway, you should try it for yourself!

This review to be honest isn’t about the food it’s about the the VERY lackluster customer service I just received in this establishment.
To start with I walked in and waited at least 5 minutes to be waited on mind you I was the ONLY person in the store. The lady behind the counter basically ignored me until I had to ask for service. So I asked for a smoothie and decided to check-​in on Unilocal and I noticed an offer for a free dessert so I decided to redeem my offer. Well as I was showing her she was trying to tell me that I couldn’t use it then I had to show her that it was a legit offer that has not been redeemed, she then honored my request.
While I was at the counter I decided to purchase a sticky rice wrap and I looked up and she was gone… walked away without saying thank you, goodbye have a nice day or anything. I guess I’m a gluten for punishment so I decided to purchase the wrap anyway. She took my money gave me my change and just walked away with my food sitting on the counter. I said excuse me may I have a bag? She responded by telling me «Bag $.05» so I gave her a dime and told her to keep the change… she turned around and walked away. During this transaction I asked her a couple of times how was she doing and I finally got a short snappy «good»!
Wow I’m sorry but I didn’t piss on your cornflakes this morning. I live in the Baltimore metro area but sometimes I make it a point to venture down to this area because of the phenomenal food AND service I’ve received in the establishments in the area in the past (sometimes almost ass kiss-​ish) and that’s why I’m very surprised at the very short and cold treatment I received this morning.
Will I return? Probably at least one more time because I believe in being fair and not judging a place off of one visit anymore… we shall see next time.

Been a while since I found a place with a milk tea that resembles HK style. This place comes pretty close, even with my picky order of little ice and less sweet. The tea taste is on point.
Family ordered the wonton noodles and beef and wonton noodles. The portions are generous and service fast.
I’d skip the regular coffee. It tasted like it’s been sitting there all afternoon and burnt.

This is one of the better (if not the best) Cantonese style bakery cafes in the Rockville area. From beautiful egg tarts and baked roast pork buns to a surprising menu of savory classics like brisket wonton noodle soups (definitely get that), this place gets it all done right.

My favorite bakery got rid of their coconut buns and I asked around where I could get something similar. Relatives suggested Asian Bakery Café. I came in on an afternoon and they were sold out – she did let me know that I could call ahead to reserve some. A few days later, I come in the morning, and the coconut buns were not there as well. I should have taken her advice.
I remember when they first opened, they offered sandwiches, but they don’t anymore. They did, however, expand their menu options. I might have to try it sometime. I will pass on the bubble milk tea, though. The milk tea is not very good.
When you check in on Unilocal,you get a free, warm egg tart!

Really disliked this place. Asked for plain green tea and got green tea with milk. Said i had asked for no milk — «no milk? But. but… How can you make bubble tea without milk?» The person at the counter had no idea how green tea could come without milk. Despite the fact that I clearly see people have ordered tea drinks without milk from this café based on old Unilocal pics.
Probably 15 – 20 gulps and this extremely subpar drink was gone. No tea flavor, could only taste the artificial milky powder taste. A rip-​off for the $ 3.50ish price tag, plus bad customer service.
Egg tart was good, and other pastries looked good, but don’t expect good bubble tea or competent waitresses here.

A nice place for breakfast. The coconut bun is super delicious.
Price is good too, buy five get one free, and get a free egg tart if you check in here.
The only thing i will not give 5 star is that, the bubble tea is not very good. I’ve ordered many times but it seems like they never cook the bubble enough so it is not soft， sometimes I cannot chew it.

Check-​in here and get a free egg tart! What a delight. It’s the little things. Not sure how long the deal will last, so get it while you can. Their egg tarts have an excellent flaky crust and sweet, custard center.
Also, try their wide selection of buns. Get your buns hun. My fav is the Hong Kong-​style cream bun sprinkled with shredded coconut.
They also have quick and tasty dishes here if you want something more filling. It’s Chinese café food without all the extra grease. Thank the heavens. Beef chow fun and Singapore noodles are highly recommended. Fresh, bouncy noodles and the right amount of sauce and spice.

We were in the area and decided to drop by Asian Bakery Café.
The bakery is spacious, with plenty of seating inside. Everything is displayed neatly. Employees were sweet and helpful. We tried a few things: BBQ Pork Buns, Homemade Bread, Sponge Cakes, and Pork Rice Crepes. They were all delicious. Could there have been a little bit more pork filling in the buns? Yes, but it was still very good. The bun itself was fluffy and flavorful. The Sponge Cakes were my favorite. It was so fresh, pillowy soft, and flavorful.
I will be back to try more things the next time I’m in Rockville.

Heard that they sold a certain steamed bun from a friend. Stopped by one afternoon and was not greeted or acknowledged. Had to approach a worker who was abrupt and unfriendly and told us that it rakes time to make and steam these buns and we’d have to come back later.
Decided to buy a few things to try anyways. Egg tarts were very bland and not creamy and the crust was very dry. The char siu buns were mostly bun with only a few chunks of meat… the custard bun was not very custardy — the egg seemed like a mushy scramble.
Maybe one day I’ll stop by again to see if they have these steamed buns but hoping there’s more meat inside and that I won’t run into ms. Unfriendly!

I really, really wanted to like this place — my husband and I have really been missing Chinese bakery since we left Chicago last summer. But all three items I purchased — mini egg custard tarts, bbq pork (char siu) rice crepes and a steamed sticky rice with sweet bean paste wrapped in a leaf — were mediocre at best. The savory pork rice crepes and the sweet bean-​filled sticky rice were both so flavorless it was hard to tell which was which. The egg custard tart was super-​eggy, more like a scrambled egg than a custard, and the crust was not as flaky as I’d hoped.
I’ll try it again the next time I’m in the neighborhood — hopefully I’ll find that it was just an off day.

I am a huge fan of the delicious baos and pastries here! The buns are enormous, and the cha siu bao (roasted honey pork) tastes authentic and delicious. A favorite of mine is the pineapple honey pork, which is like a traditional cha siu bao in a sweeter pineapple bun. SO good!
They also have warm dan tart (egg custard tarts), and if you check in on Unilocal,you can get one fo’ freeee! Their bubble milk tea isn’t bad either, although I do think that Jumbo Jumbo takes the cake on that front. This place is definitely a must-​stop every time I’m in Rockville!

I only came here for the bakery items but what we got was really tasty! The cream inside the cream buns was sweet but not overbearing. The pineapple bao was light and fluffy. Their prices are really good (everything is like $ 1.50) and it’s Buy 5, Get 1 Free! Plus there is a Unilocal check in offer for a free dan-​tart (egg tart) which was awesome and warm. So this place definitely hit the spot for what I went there for!

The dan-​tat (egg tarts) are kept warm and are pretty good. They’re definitely my favorite thing there so far… and I don’t have to wait to get them at dim sum. I was intrigued what the Mexican chocolate bun was but it’s just a chocolate bun… good nonetheless. The sponge cake is good but not spectacular. It doesn’t have that creamy/​silky texture that I’m used to the sponge cakes having from the bakeries in NYC. The baked char siu bao are ok but need some work. I don’t ever order steamed char siu bao from anywhere since no one can live up to my grandmother’s. The shredded coconut buns are pretty good.
The people there are nice. My sister had a snafu with her receipt (they overcharged her) and they fixed it the next time she was there a week later.
I definitely want to try more of the menu items in the future.

This place is kind of hit or miss. It bothers me the times I’ve gone to the Café and they do not have any bubble tea… WHAT?
This is bad… The best looking buns are the ones with pork… I always reach for them and then am like… wait… Ha ha ha
I expect their other buns to taste better, but I’ve had better experiences at Shilla bakery.
