Mirage Nails & Waxing

Made an appointment for a gel manicure on Saturday. They took me right away. They have a great color selection. V did a great job! She took her time and was very meticulous. I will definitely be going back to see her.

I used to go to Cindy Nails, but decided to try Mirage one day after work. I love how attentive the staff are to your nails, and don’t mind doing an extra coat or spending extra time getting your nails in perfect shape. At Cindy’s I felt like the manicurists were in a race with each other to see how fast they could crank out a manicure, which led to subpar manicures. The prices here are reasonable, I never need an appointment, the color selection is good, and the place is super CLEAN!

I work nearby and I’ve been making my way to the establishments at Pike & Rose. After becoming increasingly frustrated with my other nail and waxing spots, I decided to try Mirage since it’s nearby and P&R offers 2 hours free parking. My coworker stopped in here to have her eyebrows waxed a few months ago and said for $ 10, they did a great job. Well, I finally decided to check for myself. I walked in the Friday before Valentine’s Day to get a manicure and have my eyebrows waxed.
I pulled up a design from Pinterest with a heart and my manicurist was great and got right to work. She did a great job. Besy did my eyebrows with great care and attention to detail. Let me tell you, my eyebrows are special. I’ve tried a couple different shapes for my brows and I’ve been growing them out from my last experience with «thinner» brows. Well, Vesy was very careful to examine my brows and determine the best course of action to clean and shape them up. She did such a great job that I came back and she was able to do it again, lol. No small feat, so I think this is my new spot for my brows. Thanks, Besy! I’ll be back for sure. :)

I used to go to Cindy Nails, but have started coming here. I never make an appointment and am usually seen right away. The color selection is good and they have a very extensive gel color selection as well. Pricing is great ($ 37 gel manicure, $ 14 regular manicure, $ 27 pedicure or $ 39 mani/​pedi combo). I never feel rushed, the techs take their time and do a good job. Pedicures usually last a month+ and gel manicures last 3 weeks+.
You can pay for the service with a credit/​debit card, but have to tip in cash. Also they have a few pedicure options for an additional cost. The place is clean, everyone is very nice and the atmosphere is relaxed.

Came in for a pedicure without an appointment, fully expecting to wait. The person at the front desk assured me I could be seen and placed me in a spa chair with warm foot bath right away. Needless to say 45 minutes passed before someone actually touched my feet/​began my pedicure! By this time I my feet had been sitting in cold water for 30 minutes. Had they said, «There would be a 45 minute wait» i would have understood since I had no appointment. I would have either come back in 45 minutes or looked for another place to get a pedicure done. I feel placing me in the water was done on purpose to lessen the chances of me leaving. After the pedicure was completed and having spent 2 hours in the same chair, the tech then insisted that my eye brows needed to be done. I was highly irritated by the nerve of her to suggest another service considering I had just sat in cold water for 45 minutes and having already been there for 2 hours! Enough of my time had been wasted. I haven’t been back since!

In order to keep my excellent tech Anh who moved here last year I changed spas. Although the price for gel manicure increased Anh is worth it. In reading other reviews I am concerned about negative comments. Today I witnessed all spa chairs and stations being cleaned and sanitized from top to bottom as they are after every service. Also people of color are always welcome and part of the regular customers. All work hard to be sure you are satisfied and speaking ones native language is easier at times. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is I am hoping for a reward card, program or discount of some type as I have previously experienced. Plus a complimentary mani or pedi on ones birthday.

I thought this place was ok. I didnt get a rash on my feet or any infections from unclean basins or utensils. My pedicure was ok. Not the best but not the worst. The place appeared to be clean and the staff relatively friendly. This location is new so everything looked up to date and not run down. I would really like to witness the pedi-​basin being cleaned before dunking my tootsies in… they run the water so fast they don;t give you a chance. I don’t like to presume anything but theses nail salons care more about the money than customer safety. I also, think it’s professional not to carry on conversations in vietnamese in front of customers. We know that you talk about us!

I have been here a few times and up until now I thought it was an ok place. However, I made an appointment at 1pm for my boyfriend and my friend to all get pedicures and manicures. I made an appointment with a particular person so I was seen right away. However, when we got there, there was another woman who said she had an appointment at 1pm. The only problem she wasn’t in the book. But that didn’t matter because she was seen first while my boyfriend and friend waited almost an hour. Not only did they have to wait but they were repeatedly ignored while others customers were greeted and helped. I don’t usually make assumptions about why this happened but it was VERY clear to me that assumptions were made about us. Just to point out we are people of color and the people being helped were all white. Coincidence, maybe but it didn’t feel like it. I have never been more disrespected in my life. No one deserves to be treated that way. If you are white you’re welcome if not expect to wait and be ignored!

I came to Mirage for a manicure and pedicure and overall enjoyed the experience. I was excited to see a pretty new salon in our neighborhood– I previously went to Cindys Nails but I think it’s gone way downhill. It is a clean salon with new amenities and a nice big selection of new polish colors. The lady who did my pedicure spent a decent amount of time and used some device to remove the dead skin from my feet leaving them nice and smooth. That was definitely a perk as other salons I’ve been to don’t include that in a standard pedicure. A different lady did my manicure and did a nice job, as well. She tried to pressure me into getting a gel manicure which was a tad annoying, but no big deal. The regular mani was great and it lasted about a week without chipping (longer than average for me).
I took away one star because they don’t accept tip by credit card, which most upscale nail salons do. I told them it was my first time there and I did not bring cash, but they couldn’t make an exception and pointed to the bank down the street, which I really didn’t have time to do. I think they should at least keep an ATM in the salon for customer convenience if they require cash tips. Regardless, I will come back here for my nails and be prepared with cash!

Never had a worse experience getting acrylic nails done. The lady who did my nails was sweet but obviously didn’t know what she was doing. It seemed that she was skipping some steps, and hurting me during the process. (Seriously! I’ve never felt pain getting my nails done!)
Then one nail literally slides off my finger the next day. I got it fixed for free only for the nails to all come off within a week. No, they didn’t redo my entire set for me (like they should have since the first woman obviously did it wrong). They didn’t want to lose that kind of money I bet.

I’ve never felt the need to write a Unilocal review before, but my experience at Mirage Nails at Pike and Rose last weekend was so upsetting I want to make sure nobody else experiences it. To be clear, I have no problem going to the «cheap places» to get waxes done and have pretty basic standards when it comes to this stuff. I know you get what you pay for. I originally wanted a manicure, pedicure, and Brazilian wax. First up, the wax. The woman who waxed me was very pleasant, but clearly hadn’t done many waxes. As someone who has gotten many of them before, I immediately knew something was wrong when she didn’t clean or dry the skin at all and did not check the temperature of the wax before contact with my skin. It was way too hot. On top of that, the wax left super sticky residue which got all over my legs, stomach, hands, and shirt. She refused to clean any of it off until the end. It took her OVER AN HOUR to finish the wax — and she left hair behind.
Her technique was sloppy, rough and extremely painful, almost bringing me to tears — and I have a high tolerance for pain. To clean me up she slathered me in baby oil which got all over my shirt, and then took a wet dirty rag to «soothe my skin.» Your skin and pores are very susceptible to infection following a hot wax so using a wet rag to roughly clean me up was unacceptable and, frankly, dangerous. She left the room to talk to another customer and left the door OPEN with me still disrobed on the table.
At that point all I wanted to do was leave — forget the mani-​pedi. When it came time to pay instead of the advertised price of $ 45 they tried to charge me extra because it was my «first time.» Not sure if they thought it was my first time ever getting a wax (it wasn’t) or if it was my first time at their salon, but neither is a justifiable reason to charge someone extra. I was so disappointed because otherwise the salon looks very cute and clean and their prices looked reasonable, but overall, my experience at Mirage was awful and I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.

I was thrilled to have my favorite nail salon open a new shop at Pike and Rose, and that Kim had moved to that location. I have been going to Mirage for 2 years. This location is clean and bright and relaxing. Kim gives me consistently beautiful and long-​lasting pedicures and gel manicures. The gel often lasts 3 weeks.
Their prices remain reasonable. I always feel pampered. I have been to nail salons around the world and still think Mirage is the best for value and quality.

I’ve been a regular Mirage nails customer since 2009 mostly for Solar Pink and White nails, but also for pedicures and wax hair removal services. Overall, I am a very satisfied customer! And their prices are competitive and reasonable. Make sure you leave satisfied because, if you’re not, they will fix any problem, and if you need a nail repair or polish removal, etc. in between appointments, they will accommodate you. Nails look beautiful and their work is durable and long lasting. With an appointment, figure on at least an hour for a basic manicure, but more like an hour and a half per service for a pedicure or nail services beyond a basic manicure (which is what I usually have done). Hair removal is done more quickly. Like most salons, they take impromptu walk ins and you can take your chances, but if you need lengthy services after work or on a weekend, they’re usually crowded, so during those times I recommend you book an appointment because you will need to wait otherwise without one.

So my favorite salon Mirage has finally opened their third location in the new Pike & Rose shopping center. Clean, modern, and best of all they do a meticulous job. See my before and after photos.
