Shady Grove Pharmacy

Here’s the kind of service I received from this pharmacy today. I called to find out if they offer compounding services because my elderly mother was in need of a compounded prescription FOR HER CAT. Mom would have a hard time picking up a prescription at the compounding pharmacy in the town where she lives. If Mom couldn’t get the prescription delivered from her local pharmacy, I was planning on having it filled close to my home and then overnight it to my mom.
Hence my call to Shady Grove Pharmacy, to inquire if this was something they could do.
I spoke with Sheila who was (I have to capitalize here) SO WARM AND HELPFUL, and when she learned where I lived (Germantown) she told me that another pharmacy (Village Pharmacy) was closer, and she would call the pharmacist there personally to alert him to my needs. She also suggested that they might mail the prescription directly to my mother.
I ask you, when was the last time any of us had that kind of experience with a pharmacy? With any retail establishment?
As it turned out, we did not need the services of either of these fine pharmacies because my mother was able to make arrangements closer to home, but I was so impressed at how helpful and kind Sheila was, I came online to share my experience with others. I’m not even a customer (yet) but I feel like I got the red carpet treatment. These lovely people will have my business from now on. I hope after reading this, you will agree that they deserve your business, too.

Awesome place! Locally owned! They are always friendly and helpful. I wish I could get my medication from them all the time but my insurance won’t allow it. Plus, they remember me, the hubby, kids, and even my MIL.

Sheila and Geoff have done an excellent job with Shady Grove Pharmacy! This pharmacy is the perfect combination of back-​in-​the-​day mom & pop shop familiarity AND up-​to-​date efficiency and technology. The entire staff is warm and personal. My kids love to go there and beg to stop by to say hello when we are in the area.
I have been filling prescriptions with them for over a year and from my first experience to every single one in between they have always made it a great experience. On more than one occasion they have gone the extra mile by sorting out insurance issues for us, rush ordering medications, and/​or contacting Dr.‘s for correct dosages. I wouldn’t get my prescriptions filled any where else!

Still the best pharmacy in the area. I moved down to Silver Spring and still kept coming here. Best service, willing to work with me when I need it, and always friendly. They even recognize me when I call.
I should also say… I have complicated medical needs. They have really helped me navigate some of the craziness of my health insurance company as well.

I believe like most of us, in general I would rather support a local small business than a corporate behemoth. Of course, that decision typically comes along with some tradeoff — convenience, price, service, selection, etc…
Well, not here. I first visited to have a prescription filled on short notice by a doctor in the same building, and they could not have been more understanding or accommodating. By my next visit, I was greeted by name. And during the couple years since, I’ve come to expect that the mundane task of prescription refills inevitably will include a few minutes of lively conversation within a professional but casual atmosphere.
Can’t ask for much more than that.

Shelia, Mary, Geoff and the rest of the staff at Shady Grove Pharmacy are simply the absolute BEST EVER!!! I am very customer service oriented. The staff at SGP are also concerned about giving the best possible service they can. I used to work down the street from the store but have since changed jobs. Now I drive way out of the way just to come here. They are fast, friendly and quite frankly just plain fun to hang out with! I’d stop by even if I didn’t have a RX to pick up!!! Also, I get serious, very painful migraines. I know I can call them and have them bring me meds when I run out and cannot physically move. I discovered the big chains are absolutely HORRENDOUS after experiencing the great staff and service I get at Shady Grove Pharmacy!!!

Awesome pharmacy. Super fast and friendly. A breath of fresh air after using cvs and having to deal with rude people and long waits. There is a couple that run it. I wish i lived closer. I would make this my regular spot.

I read the the glowing reviews about this pharmacy and decided to use it to fill my two new prescriptions last week. I don’t have prescription insurance so I have to pay cash and the two prescriptions I had filled there were $ 25.00 and $ 30.00 more expensive than the big-​chain pharmacy I normally use in Gaithersburg. Moreover, I interact more with the pharmacists at the other pharmacy than I did at Shady Grove pharmacy. I am all for capitalism and making money but not when the «mark-​ups» are so much greater than what the ‘big-​chain pharmacies’ charge– that they claim to be better than. IMO find a pharmacy with more competitive prices.

Can’t say enough good things about Shady Grove Pharmacy. Professional, personal, and understanding services. Much, much better service than box and grocery store pharmacies. On several occasions the pharmacist has gone out of her way to track down hard to find medication for us. Support local, independent, excellent businesses like SGF.
